What’s in My HandBag – Summer 2018

Ladies, it has been a hot minute since the last time I did a ‘What In My Makeup Bag’ post. In the spirit of summer, I decided that now would be a great time to take a peek into my daily kit – and bring you along with me.

‘Yes To Cucumber’ Facial Wipes

Facial wipes are an essential in my makeup bag – they’re a great way to refresh my skin after a long day, fix makeup mistakes on the go and gently remove the dirt and grime that accumulates after a day out. In the summertime, I prefer facial wipes that are cooling and soothing to my skin – and these ones by Yes To, enriched with cucumber and aloe extract, are excellent at doing just that.

Benefit Cosmetics BADgal Bang! Mascara

Whether I am wearing a full face of makeup or going au naturel, I never leave the house without a volumizing mascara – and this is currently one of my favourites. All you need is a couple of swipes to have you looking like you’re wearing a full set of falsies. It doesn’t clump, transfer or smudge during the day, so that makes this mascara perfect for the summer weather as well.

Bioderma Photoderm MAX SPF 50 Tinted Moisturiser

Another product I never leave the house without is a good moisturiser with a high dose of SPF. The best part about this one by Bioderma is that along with being SPF 50, it is also tinted, which means that it evens out your complexion, brightens up your skin and reduces the appearance of blemishes. It’s perfect for warm days when you don’t feel like sporting heavy foundation – one application of this, a couple of coats of mascara and you’re good to go.

Clairins Lip Balm

Many people forget to nourish their lips and give them the TLC that they need, but your lips need moisture too – not only in the summer but all year round. Clarins does great tinted lip balms that not only give your lips the moisture they crave but also, a slight hint of colour as well. These balms are perfect for no makeup days, quick trips to run errands around town or some post-beach colour. I can’t get enough!

Accessorize London Travelcard Holder

If you tend to lose your cards a lot, like me, I have a solution for you. I picked up this sweet pouch from Accessorize, because I love the London print, which pays homage to one of my favourite cities in the world. Plus, it’s a great way to make sure that I have all my cards in one places and its compact enough to carry even in small bags.

Grazia

For those long tube rides or in-between-meeting breaks, we all need some fashion inspiration to keep going! Grazia is my go-to magazine for the latest trends, the best fashion inspiration, and the most entertainment. I always have a copy with me. You never know when you need it!

Sunglasses

Another essential that goes with me everywhere – my sunglasses! Whether you’re trying to cover up a hangover, dark circles under your eyes or simply trying to shield your eyes from the sun, sunglasses are an excellent, multi-purpose product to have with you. Plus, it’s a little-known fact that they actually help your skin as well! If you drive without sunglasses, you tend to squint more, which means you’ll develop lines around your eyes much faster. That isn’t a good look, so I always have a pair of sunnies in my bag and my car.

What’s In My Makeup Bag? #OnaDayOut #Vacation

This post goes out to all the lovely ladies who stay out long. Working full-time or travelling out for a whole day entails staying away from home for many, many hours and that naturally takes a toll on one’s appearance. I know that looking good despite having a long, tiring day is no less than a challenge. Your only friend in this battle is some trusty products and easy access to a mirror.makeup-bag
So, let me show what I always carry in my makeup bag on days I’m going to be out for long. These products are tried, tested and totally loved by me. They have become essentials in my vanity and an integral part of my beauty haul whenever I go out shopping or on vacation. I always try to intentionally carry less makeup products when I am out and about to keep space in my bag for more shopping and knick knacks ;-), so here is the list for you.

  1. MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation – I love this foundation for its mattifying effect and long staying power. I can wear it for hours without worrying about oiliness or too many touch-ups. I never have to reapply it more than once in a day. And though the coverage is medium, it is ideal for wearing to office.
  2. Benefit Magic Ink Liquid Eyeliner – This eyeliner is by-far one of the most fuss-free liners I have ever come across. The thin stiff wand assures you one-swipe application which is really helpful if you’re in a hurry. It doesn’t budge from my lids for several hours despite my oily skin and sweating. All boxes checked!
  3. Clarins Be Long Mascara Travel Size Pack – Another great product that is hard to fault. This mascara has a brilliant wand that helps get to even the tiniest lashes. It naturally curls them and gives them volume too. Though it takes a little time to dry completely, once set, it doesn’t bleed and stays on for long.
  4. MAC Cosmetics Dazzleglass Creme (Baby Sparks) – A simple, light-pink gloss which has shiny crystals in it. The light, neutral shade is perfect for formal occasions, which is why I carry it to office. The staying power is good for a gloss – about 3-5 hours – but I do need touch-ups with this. It’s a little bit sticky but I since it keeps my lips hydrated, I won’t complain.
  5. Folding Compact Comb and Mirror– Carrying a full-sized brush around isn’t a practical idea. This foldable compact comb is perfect for it fits into the smallest of bags. I obviously can’t do wonders for my hair with it but if I need to fix a few strays or just brush through my locks, it does the job.
  6. Joy Travel/Coin Purse – This is a handy little purse that I can stuff a lot of knick knacks into. A lot times, I just throw in all this makeup into it. But sometimes I keep it filled with coins and change or business cards.

So this is what all I carry about in my “Day Out” Makeup bag. What are your must-have products for such days? Feel free to share!

PS: I am just back from a lovely vacation to Devon, and there will be lots of exciting and interesting posts coming your way soon!

My Make-up Bag This Month – April 2016

April is a bag of mixed weathers this year in UK with warm in the first half and the cold again, and the stuff in all our makeup bags naturally undergoes a change. And that’s exactly how it should be. The products you use should be suited to the weather outside and the changes are particularly demanding on our skin. So here’s a peek into my makeup bag and all the goodies I’ve been enjoying this month.

Makeup-bag-April2016

  1. MAC Cosmetics Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation – This powder foundation is ideal for summer season. It has a mattifying effect, prevents oiliness and shine, and does not give a cakey appearance. I use it over my sunscreen on days when I don’t need too much coverage or otherwise team it with an SPF-rich liquid foundation.
  1. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Lycra Flex Mascara – What is life without a little bit of drama? And off late, I’ve enjoyed sporting dramatic eye makeup by using this “oversized volume mascara”. What I love about it is that all you need is one swipe and your lashes become thick and voluptuous, without becoming stiff or brittle.
  1. Clarins 50+ SPF Sunscreen For Face Wrinkle Control Cream – This is a wonderful product that offers a combo of sun protection and anti-ageing benefits. It has a high SPF rating yet doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. I’m very particular about keeping my skin sun-safe and this happens to be one of the best sunscreens I’ve used.
  1. L’Occitane “Lavande de Haute-Provence” Hand Cream – This is a lightly moisturising hand cream with a heavenly smell that is so soothing to the senses. I use it in the summer season for it is light on the skin, absorbs quickly and does not have a thick or buttery consistency which is best suited for winter-care.
  1. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer (Garnet) – This is a recent purchase and has been working quite well for me. This lip lacquer is marketed as a gloss, but trust me, it can be easily substituted for lipstick too. It is highly pigmented, stays on for a 2 – 3 hours without touch-ups and has a hydrating, creamy formula. And this Garnet shade is beautiful – works for both day and night looks!
  1. Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes – Keeping wet wipes handy is a good idea during summer season. I use these ones by Simple for they are suitable for sensitive skin, thus having no harsh chemicals, strong perfume or alcohol base. On usage, these wipes do not dry out the skin, nor do they make it oily. A must-have for those sweaty mornings and sultry nights.
  1. A folding compact comb to keep hairs in check all day 🙂

So this is what I’ve been lugging around my makeup bag these days. What about you? Do share

My Make-up Bag this Month – March 2016

Here is another post in the series of What’s in my Make-up bag these days.
I missed the one for Feb as I was travelling and pre occupied with all the London Fashion Week Posts. I hope you enjoyed those, in case you missed those here is link to all the current posts for London Fashion Week AW 2016.

Makeup-Bag-March-2016

So coming back to this month’s make-up bag contents, as You can I am carrying a bright now pink Dior Clutch which is one of my prized possessions these days *wink* *wink*

Now the main contents of the bag, honestly these products are some of my favourite for long long time.

  1. Urban Decay Naked Blush Pallete – Whats not to like, I get a bronzer, blusher and highlighter all in one, and if you have read my review post of this product you will know I never use it without my Urban Decay Brush
  2. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Laquer – HD Garnet- Great Colour to quickly add brightness to face any time of the day, long staying power and since it’s like a matt gloss it also keeps my lips nourished, and as the name suggests it has lovely High Def finish.
  3. Clarins Wonder Perfect Mascara – I got one their miniatures and since its tiny I can easily carry it and save space as well. Great for a quick pick me up for my eyes and face!
  4. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector – Great to make sure my lips are nourished and not chapped through the day, with time I have realised once should never ever go without making sure that their lips are soft and supple and I love the sweet taste as well, very rare to find in lip balms but I love it.
  5. Mac Prep + Prime Powder – One of the best translucent pressed powder from MAC controls shines and excess oil and makes your make up look flawless whatever the time of day
  6. Benefit Magic Ink Mascara – Hands down – My favourite mascara and I promise to review this ASAP, but I have been using this particular one since 2011 and I cant even remember how many bottles I have bought, love the colour, coverage and also the brush applicator which is my favourite part.

Hope you all love reading these posts from me and do comment below if you have any make-up or beauty questions and I promise to answer them personally.

My Makeup Bag this month – January 2016

Hi All,

Here is the 3rd post in the series What’s In My Makeup Bag!

While writing these posts, it always surprises me how my makeup routine and preferences change over time and season. December was all about fun, frolic and glitter but this month, I’m more into subtle perfection, or as some might call it, the “no makeup flawless finish”. And to pull that off, I have been stashing these products in my makeup bag:

Makeup-Bag-Jan2016

  1. Benefit Eyeshadow – It’s a great brown color which is extremely convenient to use as an all-alone single eyeshadow; perfect for the days when you’re in a rush. One of my old favourites of mine.
  1. Benefit Magic Ink Eyeliner – One of my all time favourites, this eye liner stands true to its name! It’s an intense black shade and I have been using it for almost 4 years now. I digress, but this one is my go-to product when it comes to applying eye liner quickly and effortlessly. I also find the brush to be very good for it gives a lot more control to go as thin or as strong as I want.
  1. Mac Prep+Prime Powder – This pressed powder is quick to use and gives a nice, matte finish so I can use it over moisturiser or foundation to blot away the shine. I use it mid-day sometimes to control excess oil and freshen my face.
  1. Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser – January is always a bit of fast runner, maybe because one is trying to catch up on chores after the December holidays. So I keep this tinted moisturizer handy for those days when I’m in a rush, running late or simply not in the mood to get ready.
  1. Clarins Lip Perfector Lip Balm – I have recently started using this lip balm and to put it in a nutshell, it smells good, tastes sweet and has a sheer shine to it. I love it for it’s also very moisturising. The one I bought is a little light for my lips though, so next time I will try a different colour.
  1. Mascara – One of the two products you will always find in my bag, it helps achieve that “no makeup” look and also opens up the eyes; great for when you need just a subtle hint of glamour.

My Make-up Bag this month – December 2015

Another post in the series What’s in My Makeup Bag!

The month is December and there’s loads to do; work, parties, shopping and more. So, what I’ve been carrying in my bag lately is all those products that help me transform my comfy office-look to a night-time-party-look in a jiffy.  And since the festive season leaves little time for grooming, I also always stock some goodies that ensure I don’t look tired or hung over from the last night’s celebrations.

Makeup-Bag-December-2015

Here is a sneak peek into what my most important go-to products are in Dec 2015:

  1. Benefit Girl Meets Pearl – My favourite highlighter for the winter months, one needs to be slightly careful with it . It makes you look like a light bulb if used too much, so I prefer to just dab a tiny bit on my face and blend it in with a blusher brush. It also helps to add a bit of colour or tan to the face which is perfect for such months when we are all so pale! Win Win.
  1. Loreal Paris 201 Rose Symphony – A very pinky kind of lip gloss with great staying power, this can be used both for day wear and night-time parties too. I chose this shade for I like to keep my lip colors bright especially in the winter months.
  1. Origins Eye Cream GinZing – Another one of those staple products that can be used to hide the side effects of last night’s party, this cream contains compounds which helps awaken the eyes and make them look bright & shining.
  1. Real Technicques Blush Brush – I always carry at least one brush in my bag and this one is an absolute must-keep for me. It helps to apply blush or highlighter in a way that brings a healthy flush to the face and blend products well with the base makeup.
  1. Shimmer for Highlighting – A small pot of this shimmer comes in handy for dusting the neck, shoulder, arms or temples, it to highlights features to bring some oomph to the makeup.
  1. Midnight Blue Glitter Eyeshadow – I use this eyeshadow for bringing the jazz to my night-time party look. It is such a small pot to carry which is much better than having a whole eyeshadow palette stashed in. Not that I don’t love those, but these days I am all about being minimalist with my bag and the makeup that I carry.
  1. Loccitaine Lavender Hand Cream – This is truly a necessity in the winter months since my hands need some serious TLC in such chilly weather. So this nice, soothing hand cream and its pleasant fragrance feel like a saviour during my midday dry-hand-crisis.

Top 5 Must Have Items for Your Festive Makeup Kit

In the time leading up to the festive season this year, we must all prepare to look our best – that’s the most exciting bit of the whole festive frenzy, isn’t it?! To have you all looking your best, I have collated some of the makeup & beauty products that should be staples in your cupboard or vanity during this time of the year. Here’s my take on the best products that will help you get all dolled-up in no time!

Also, here is a snippet of the items I have in my festive makeup kit

1-Festive Makeup Kit

  1. Natural Looking Foundation – I personally like to wear less makeup on the skin. I fell it is better to look natural rather than heavily covered in potions and lotions. Foundation should be used to enhance some features and hide imperfections, and not layer the face thickly, giving you the “pancaked look”. Go for a foundation which gives light to medium coverage and doesn’t hide your skin completely. My own favourite is Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation.
  2. Bright Lip Colours – The trend this year is bright lip colours, and I love the pop it adds to one’s appearance. Try and wear colours which match or complement your attire. My personal favourite lip colours these days include fiery reds and tangy oranges. I would recommend pink shades for day time functions, though.
  1. Highlighter – A good quality highlighter should be your go-to product for getting that dewy finish that most celebrities are sporting these days. Use the highlighter on the high planes of the face and if you don’t want to spend oodles of money on one, you could even use a light eye shadow for the same effect.
  2. Eyeliner – Eyeliner is the one single product in eye makeup that I wouldn’t recommend forgoing at any cost. This festive season, rock your outfit by complementing it with properly lined eyes; that is sure to make a huge difference to how you look. You could use a fine black liner or experiment with navy blue or metallic colours. You could also use bold, deep shades to create a sultry, smokey-eyed look.
  3. Primer – Most of the times at festive events, we end up staying out late which obviously takes a toll on our makeup-laden skin. But no one wants to look run down by the end of the night and the best way to prevent that is by using a primer underneath your makeup to make it last longer. Primer acts like a base and moisturises the skin, minimising the pores so as to prep it for makeup application. Think of primer as similar to that used by artists on their canvas before starting their masterpieces’ – you will then never forget to start with it!

If you have any questions or comments regarding what’s been mentioned above, feel free to send me a note or drop a line below. I’ll be glad to know how you are going to be doing your makeup this festive season.
