It’s the ultimate curse of womanhood. Forget periods and childbirth, the constant battle we have with our handbags to keep them neat and ordered is genuinely painful. Listen up, ladies, for all is not lost! There are some amazing inventions/hacks that’ll leave you crying ‘WHY HAVE I NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS BEFORE?!’ and here they are.
1. Handbag Organiser Insert
Yes, these exists, and they’re amazing. Not only will they keep your handbag forever organised so you’ll know where everything is at all times, they have uber-satisfying pockets and slots, AND they make changing your handbag easier than ever. Now you might actually get some use out of that huge collection you never touch. (If you don’t want to splash out on an actual organiser insert, even thought they’re super-cheap, why not use an old clutch to make your own?)
2. Sandwich Bag Rubbish Bin
How often do you just pop an insignificant piece of rubbish in your bag, that you promise yourself you’ll take out later? All the time? Yep. Solve the problem of old sweet wrappers etc. with a DIY handbag rubbish bin just using any old sandwich bag. Then, at the end of the day/week/month/whatever takes your fancy, you can just pop it in the actual bin, no questions asked.
3. Make Up Pencil Case
Fed up of rooting through the bottom of your bag to find your BB cream or eyebrow pencil? If your make up bag, like mine, is far too big to carry around with you at all times, just pop your essentials in a small pencil case. For me, these essentials are as few and simple as BB cream, mascara, eyebrow pencil, chubby stick and lip balm.
4. Medicine Pencil Case
Do the same thing with your medicine. I’m anaemic, so always have a supply of iron tablets (and green tea tablets to counter the unwelcome side-effects of iron) with me at all times. A cute little pencil case can carry tissues, your contraceptive pill, and any medication you may need to keep on you.
5. Key Chain
Every time I get to my door, I have to fully unload my handbag to find my keys (which are in a massive bunch, by the way, so you would think they’d be easy to find). Invest in a key chain that attaches your keys to your bag handle, meaning you never have to empty the contents of your bag on the pavement again. I would personally recommend a leather key chain, since they’re classy and won’t be ruined by the day-to-day activity that seems to take place inside the handbag.
