Holiday Lookbook – Your Holiday Outfit Guide

If you have been following my blog then you must have noticed this summer has been all about beaches for me. I love a beach destination for the summers. It’s a great way to relax, rejuvenate and get some tan during your summer break. From all my travels this summer I have come up with a list of outfits which are perfect for a beach vacation. So read on and slay the beach look with these must-have outfits:

Tunic: Summer wear is what comes to mind when I think of tunics. They are one of the most comfortable outfits for summer. What makes tunics a go-to outfit for me is that it is so versatile and flatters every body type. You can style it as a dress, as a short kurti over palazzo pants or shorts and even with trousers for work wear. You can even wear it as a beach cover up and get some tan while reading a romantic novel by the ocean.

Off-Shoulder Outfit: Off-shoulder tops are popular on the runway as well as on the streets. Off-shoulder tops are flirty, feminine and look great with shorts as well as a midi skirt. You can pair it with statement accessories to jazz it up for a dinner date or wear it with ripped shorts for a day on the beach. Go for a lacy top with intricate designs to keep it feminine and fun. For a chic look team a flowy top with high-waist shorts, slip on shoes and fun accessories.

Staple White Top: White is a great color for summer. I like carrying a few short tops or kurtas with me on a beach vacation. You can go for a contemporary look by pairing a white chikan work top with a pair of denim or cotton pants when sight-seeing.

Cold Shoulder Top: Another popular trend this spring summer is the cold shoulder trend. If you aren’t comfortable baring your shoulders in an off-shoulder top then this is the trend for you. It’s quirky, fun and very chic. You can opt for a cold shoulder top with bell sleeves or ruffled sleeves to add more drama to your outfit. Don’t just restrict this trend to a top you can also wear a dress with cold shoulder sleeves for a beachy look.

Maxi Dress: I love wearing maxi dresses. This breezy style is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. I can wear it as a cover-up over a bikini or team it with an embellished belt for a night out. I prefer going for printed maxi dresses in vibrant shades.

Long Shirt or Shirt Dress: Is a fuss free outfit in your beach vacation wardrobe. You can wear a long shirt or a shirt dress for a day at the beach, a casual affair or even date. I prefer shirts in linen material as it helps the skin breathe and keeps me cool in the rising temperatures. You can pair a long shirt with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts and slip on sandals or wear it as it is with a belt for a fitted look.

Sleeveless Jackets: Cover ups are essential for a beach holiday. Since it would be too hot for jackets I suggest a sleeveless jacket in net or crochet material to slip on over your crop top or bikini top and shorts. You can also opt for long sleeveless jackets in chiffon in colorful floral prints as a beach cover up.

Stoke Fleming and Blackpool Sands Beach – South Devon Series Part 1

Travelling, it leaves you speechless and turns you into a storyteller. Here’s my story of my travelling expedition to Devon, located in South England. Devon also known as Devonshire is a county of England and is gifted with both cliffs and sandy shores on it coasts. A coastal part of the country, known for its beaches, green farms, seaside resorts, ports and fishing towns. For me it is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city,.
Dartmouth (1) One of the places I visited during my stay in Devon was the Stoke Fleming and Blackpool sand beach. Stoke Fleming is a small village in South Devon and Blackpool Sands is a private beach with Venus Café. The beach is surrounded by pines and evergreens. It is one of the most beautiful beaches in Devon. The only downside for me personally was that it is pebbly beach and not a sandy one but has lovely turquoise blue sea.The water is clean and clear and superb if you love swimming. During the summers the beach is cleaned regularly.
Dartmouth (2)The beach has various activities like rafting, wet suits, kayaking and stand up paddle boards for hire. You can also enjoy a range of delicious cuisine at Venus café. The  Café offers locally produced and organic food which is delicious and also has a beach shop where one can buy beach games and goods. The beach is also equipped with refreshing shower facilities, toilets and disabled facilities.
Dartmouth (3)The beach also hosts several summer events and the cafe is open in the evenings for dinner for July & August, making it a perfect summer getaway. Overall Stoke Fleming and Blackpool Sands beach has something for everyone.  It is definitely a must visit if you are in Devon.
Dartmouth (6)Now talking about my outfit. I wore a dark pink dress with a floral head band. I was aiming for a very bohemian and beachy look. Bright colored dresses are perfect for a day out in the sun. One of the most important things that you should wear when going to the beach is sunscreen. Also sandals and slippers are a great option for the beach. I tried to keep my makeup minimal and let my outfit do the talking. PS:- forgot to click pictures during the day, got so busy enjoying the sun and water games

Later in the evening, I went to Radius 7 Restaurant for dinner and wore an off shoulder lace top with a white Capri. It was a semi casual look which is appropriate for most occasions and places. I also kept my accessories to bare minimum. Off shoulder tops and cold shoulder are in this season. Also this semi-casual look is perfect for a dinner date.

Spring is Here – Vacation Outfit Inspiration

Spring is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year, when flowers bloom, gentle warmth embraces you and finally we all kiss the chilly winters goodbye. Those lovely coats and boots get pushed to the back of your wardrobe and your summery outfits come right out.

Personally, I love the winter months too. I wait for Autumn to arrive each year so I can wrap myself in a comfy coat and put on my cozy boots. But now that spring has arrived, I find myself gearing up to whip up my summer outfits, which if you follow my instagram account, are bright, beautiful and highly colourful.

So here’s my first OOTD for Spring 2016. And it’s from one of my favourite brands – Monsoon, which according to me, has the best spring and summer outfits. The dress I’m wearing is from their latest beach collection, and is a great pick for a peaceful stroll by the beach – ah, I’m dreaming of vacations already!

Equally causal and chic are my ghunaroo-embellished sandals. They are from Monsoon as well and what I love about them is that the ghungaroos add a unique, stylish touch, but make no noise that would draw too much attention while you walk, I like their nude colour which makes it so easy to pair them with all the bright coloured summer or spring outfits.

The accessories that you see –the necklace, the bracelet and the rings – are from Accessorize which is a sister brand to Monsoon. I have to say, their holiday accessories are quite lovely, and I tend to pick up a lot of stuff from Accessorize on every visit.

Be a Beach Beauty

Beach-HolidaysHere is a step by step guide to get you ready for the golden sandy beaches with confidence.

  • Sun Safe – Whether you go for cream or oil, its essential to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sun rays not only damage and age the skin but can also lead to skin cancer. Before you head out make sure you use a good sunscreen. Make sure you reapply your sun cream or oil regularly, especially after the dip in the water.
  • Nail It – Pretty Hues or Bold Bright nails look best on the beach. Before applying polish give yourself a manicure to make sure your nails are in a tip-top shape. Don’t forget your feet either, a nice pedicure and a beautiful pair of flip flops or open toed sandals in the evening will make you stand out in the crowd.
  • Protect Your Locks – Your skin isn’t the only thing that can get seriously damaged in the sun, your hair can too. All that sea salt, chlorine and sun can play havoc with your hair and turn your glossy locks into an unruly frizzy haystack. You either use a nice SPF protection for your hair or repair remedy to add back the lost moisture and repair any damage done throughout the day.
  • Smooth Skin – Pre Holiday, get your skin glowing by buffing and exfoliating. You can use a body scrub or use a body brush.
  • Minimum Makeup – Heavy makeup on the beach is a complete no-no, but if you can’t dare to bare, a slick of waterproof mascara with a sweep of subtle lipstick will keep you looking fresh faced and gorgeous. In the evening some bronzer and metallic shimmering eye shadow will enhance your tan and give you a healthy glow.
