Delicious Diet Foods – So Shape Making Dreams Come True!

I like to believe that I am maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but then fall off the fitness bandwagon sometimes. In fact, I often get queries from friends, family, and followers regarding the secret to my fitness. The answer is simple – I try to eat the right kind of food and add enough physical activity to my daily routine.

The next question I’m then asked is what it is that I’m eating. Well, let me introduce you to a healthy-eating option I recently discovered. A French Smart Meal brand called So Shape provides a range of easy-to-prep food options that are perfect for people like me who are always on-the-go.

So Shape has a simple food philosophy. Their meals are carefully created to optimize nutrient value and minimize calorie intake. The proposed method for getting the best out of So Shape is replacing your regular diet with 2 So Shape Smart Meals and one open, healthy lunch.

What I like about the So Shape way of eating is that it is sustainable. The main reason for this is that their meals are as delicious as they are healthy. Most attempts at dieting typically fail because you begin craving other tasty foods, all too soon. With So Shape Smart Meals, your cravings are taken care of because their preparations themselves are so tasty. Also, since they are nutrient-rich, you feel healthy, energetic, and satiated for longer.

I have tried their pancake mix and flavoured shakes so far. They were filling, delicious, and super-easy to make. The best part is, you have a whopping 22 options of Smart Meals to choose from. These include a wide variety of shakes, frappes, soups, and pasta, which allows you much flexibility regarding planning your meals. With So Shape Smart Meals, the likelihood of getting bored with eating the same bland food is very low.

Another thing to note about So Shape Smart Meals is that they have vegan and some gluten-free options as well. This feature gets them an extra thumbs-up from me because it can get very difficult to find vegan/gluten-free meals that do not require too much prepping.

If you’re wondering about the price-point, all meals are priced between £2.5-£3, which makes them affordable meal-replacement options. Apart from the Smart Meals, So Shape also has Smart Foods which are inherently healthy snacks you can have in-between meals. I think these Smart Foods are also a brilliant idea because unhealthy snacking is a habit that many people are guilty of.

So, if you are looking to transform your diet into nutrient-rich, low-calorie intake, and that too, in the least time/effort consuming way, So Shape Smart Meals can be your food angel. Have a go at it, and let me know if you enjoyed them as much as I did!

A Walk Down English History at Cliveden House

Cliveden House is synonymous with the grandiose history, politics, and scandal that form the fabric of contemporary English sensibilities. Ever since I moved to London, I’ve always wanted to visit this fascinating mansion and explore its grounds at great length. Recently, I was able to indulge in the pleasure of staying at Cliveden House, and the experience was no short of spectacular. It offered an intoxicating blend of luxury, intrigue, drama, and delight, so unique that leaving after our stay was a most reluctant separation. If I were, to be honest, the first point of captivation with Cliveden House is its interesting historic significance. It was first built by the Duke of Buckingham in 1666 and has been burnt and rebuilt twice since then. Over the course of its existence which spans over three centuries and more, it has housed an Earl, two Dukes, three Countesses, a Prince of Wales, and the Viscount Astor. It is then not surprising that Cliveden House has been the backdrop of many historic British chronicles. It was the hub of intellectual exchange when the Cliveden Set met in the early 1900s. It was also the site of lusty scandal when John Profumo, the then Secretary of State for War, stumbled upon 19-year old Christine Keeler, his soon-to-be-lover, in 1961. And today, it is a National-Trust property that attracts thousands of curious visitors and stay-in guests all through the year. Interestingly, even in contemporary times, Cliveden House is not impervious to overtures of the rich, the famous, and the royal; Meghan Markle stayed here on the night before her wedding! That somehow adds to the glamorous mystique of this place, doesn’t it?

Moving beyond its alluring past, the Cliveden House is every bit as exciting in the present as well. As we drove past the Cliveden landscape to reach the main building, I was awestruck by the expanse of real estate it encompasses. The gardens span a whopping 365 acres, while the manor is a large Italianate structure with 47 rooms, including 15 suites. The grounds overlook the majestic Thames, and in their entirety, make a glorious picture of well-maintained splendour. We were staying at the Mountbatten Suite which is a Junior Suite; it was previously a game room which has been converted into lodging now. If you haven’t guessed yet, all the rooms at Cliveden are named after a figure from its past, which makes a living in them, a definitive handshake with history.

But for all its archaic bindings, as a living space, Cliveden House offers you all comfort and luxury imaginable. Our suite was massive and beautifully furnished. The heavy curtains, silken drapes, cushioned sofas, and antique-wood furniture create a sense of cosy decadence that is truly special. I was quite taken in by the ornate wallpaper and artwork that added depth to the rooms. The management has retained some period features such as original fireplaces which is another lovely touch. The bathroom was suitably lush as well, with marble floor, roomy construction, and a fancy, monsoon shower.  A special mention for the comfortable and massive bed and bedding which renders good sleep a natural outcome. Ohh! How I would love to sleep on that bed again!

After checking in and revelling in the magnificence of our room, we decided to enjoy evening drinks in the lounge and tried the Signature Cliveden66 cocktail which honouring the royal tradition and has 24k gold filings in it.

The dinner date was at at the André Garrett Restaurant which promised fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere. Our first sampling was of the house cocktail with champagne & 24-carat gold leaf shavings; quite a start, don’t you think? We moved onto the main course and ordered one portion of semolina and parsley gnocchi, and of Grilled Anjou pigeon. Both preparations were delicious, flavoursome, and light – exactly what I look for in an enjoyable dining experience. We shared our dessert, which tasted as good as it looked, and soon retreated to our room for a good night’s sleep. While we went in for the fine dining option, you also have the option of eating at the more casual Astor Grill and also have the option for a private dining experience, in case you wish to host a private party.

While some of our best moments at Cliveden House were spent enjoying the room or the food, we also spared time to indulge in some relaxing spa treatments. The spa has been reopened with new upgrades and is fabulous. It boasts of seven treatment rooms that wall an indoor pool for lazy swims. The spa area has another outdoor pool, a state-of-the-art Technogym, a fitness studio, and a tennis centre including one indoor and two outdoor tennis courts. There’s a Spa Kitchen that offers healthy wares, like juices and teas.  As far as the spa treatment experience goes, it was supremely relaxing. We booked ourselves for body massage and body wrap treatment and emerged quite refreshed after the sessions. I was very impressed with the quality products used for the treatments. In fact, they have launched a new range of spa products, with the names inspired by two remarkable ladies from Cliveden’s history – Anna Maria and Nancy Astor. I preferred products from the Nancy range more so because of the fragrance preference and would love to use them in my routine.

Though I was occupied with exploring the grounds and enjoying our room during most of our stay, there are other entertainment options as well. You can always take a trip by the river and use the flotilla of Cliveden boats to explore the waters. Also, if you do not want to stay-in at Cliveden House, you can always go in for National-Trust Property tour – it is sure to be quite an enriching experience. In fact, my conclusion is that anyone visiting Cliveden House, no matter how briefly, is likely to fall in love with it on account of its checkered past and overwhelming grandeur.

I’m glad I was able to enjoy a wonderful stay at Cliveden House. I hope to revisit it soon and make new, lovely memories.

Royal Lancaster London – A Regal Abode

Royal Lancaster London a symbol of England’s rich history and benchmark for modern hoteling, stands tall and majestic over Hyde Park. This iconic hotel promises a premium experience in terms of food, lodging, and service. My stay at the Royal Lancaster Hotel was outstanding, and certainly an experience I will not forget.

The first thing that struck me when we reached the hotel was its wonderful location. A stone’s throw away from the Lancaster Gate Tube Station and overlooking Hyde Park, it promises both easy connectivity and great views. In fact, you can expect to see the most breathtaking versions of the London skyline and surrounding greenery from any one of the 411 rooms here.

As we walked through the lobby, peeking around every nook and corner, I noticed that the hotel is, in many ways, a tribute to the royal English tradition. From the rose-bearing hotel crest to the names of the suites, and the mid-century architecture, relics of the past have been fused with contemporary aesthetics. The result, you ask is Regal luxuriance!

While the ambiance and exteriors exemplify lush opulence, the hotel rooms take it up a notch higher. Fresh, scented linen, a comfy king size bed, roomy cupboards and a safe, a sofa, minibar, vanity, walk-in shower – all such conveniences are well-provided for. I loved the woody décor which shone with polished upkeep – a lovely setting! What I enjoyed, even more, was a great view of the London skyline that our room presented; I’ll never forget the feeling of waking up to such a magnificent sight!

The Royal Lancaster London has several lodging options. From the well-furnished Classic Room, to premium suites, there’s something to suit everyone’s interests. For instance, if you’re a nature lover, you can opt in for a Park Suite – these offer the best view of the Hyde Park and some extra luxuries such as a 55 inch Smart TV, in-room coffee machine, separate lounging area, a bathtub and twin sinks in the bathroom, and so much more. The top-of-the-shelf Lancaster Suite offers you an even larger TV, a spectacular view, and even champagne in ice on arrival! You can choose a room that meets your preferences and budget, and no matter your selection, you’re sure to enjoy your time in the lap of decadent luxury.

If you are able to drag yourself outside your room, you’ll find that the hotel has a splendid array of facilities as well. You can work out in their state-of-the-art gym or spend some time indulging in the tradition of Afternoon Tea. We were quite excited to give their Brilliant Afternoon Tea a try and I was very pleased that they were able to customize my cup to a gluten-free variant! The lavish spread of cakes and savouries was one of the best I’ve ever tasted, and worth every calorie. And if you are stressed about gorging on their sumptuous food, you can always relax yourself by signing up for some in-room spa treatments. Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? Surely was!

All in all, our stay at the Royal Lancaster London was rather delightful. The hotel recently completed 50 years, and I would hope it retains its charm and brilliance to reach the next milestone of 100. Kudos to the courteous staff and management for running this historic hotel with admirable excellence.

Celebrating Specials Moments with Glitter and Glam

As I celebrated the 6th Anniversary of FashionForRoyals, I can reflect back and say that over the years I have grown along with my blog, and have met and made many new friends through social media. To celebrate this point, I decided to treat myself with a little gleam and shine – yes, you guessed it – some lovely sterling silver jewellery!

I got myself a ring, a bracelet, and a beautiful neckpiece by Links of London. This British brand has created a niche for itself in the international luxury market, and I’m loving their refreshing take on modern jewellery. Their innovative combination of classic styles and British eccentricities makes them very distinctive. And as you probably know, I’m all about unique, striking designs.

Jewellery Featured:

The pieces I got are from their Splendour collection. I got myself sterling silver jewellery, but you also have the option of rose gold vermeil, 18K gold vermeil, and diamond-studded ornaments to choose from in the collection.

I think these delicate feminine pieces will go well with any summer spring outfit. The delicate yet eye-catchy jewellery compliments any ensemble; perfect for a daytime event.

The four-edged star motif is modish and chic, though surprisingly inspired by the intricate star patterns that adorn cathedrals. Stars are a major trend this season which makes the ring, the bracelet, and the necklace fashion-forward choices to sport right now. What I love about such jewellery is that it complements the ongoing industry trends but has a special charm of its own. Whether stars be trending or not, I expect to wear these lovely pieces all year round.

Even from a purely sartorial perspective, my new acquisitions are quite a smart choice. These pieces are light enough to be worn to work or casual affairs. At the same time, they add instant oomph to any outfit which makes them great dinner-date or party accessories. The versatility of the Splendour collection is one of the key selling points and if you love them jewels too, some Links of London jewellery could be a great addition to your collection!

I think the Splendour collection is a great choice to celebrate key moments in life with glitter and glam. I would highly recommend them as a great gift choice for happy occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, and all kinds of personal and professional successes. That is the exact reason that I decided to commemorate 6 years of the blog with jewellery from the Splendour collection – it seems to be a perfect match for my celebratory mood!

Visit Indico Street Kitchen for their Vibrant Decor & Great Indian Food

I’ve been living in England for many years now, and I am always on the lookout for good Indian restaurants. This is because what I miss most about India is the wide array of delicious foods you can find in every nook and corner there. If you, too, are searching for a restaurant that, one, serves Indian cuisine and two, does a brilliant job of it, do visit the Indico Street Kitchen in Solihull.
I’ve eaten here many times and can’t seem to stop myself from coming back again and again. The preparations are lovely, the ambience fantastic, and this is all that is required to keep me hooked!

The first thing you notice when you enter Indico Street Kitchen is it’s vibrant décor and Bollywood music. The walls are lined with traditional artwork and India movie motifs which make for a quirky, fascinating ambience. Each table and seating area is unique and on less crowded days, you can pick and choose the corner that makes for the best pictures and selfies.

I personally love the colourful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling – they add to the eclectic charm of the décor.

One section has café-style seats as well, in case you prefer to be in more familiar surroundings though. For me, the combination of bright colours, Indian pop songs, and an extremely welcoming staff is very nostalgic. I’m instantly reminded of my home in India, and this fond reminiscence that Indico invokes is truly special.

As far as the food goes, you can expect it to be an aromatic, flavourful, and decadent as preparations from the streets of India are. The menu comprises of various kinds of street foods, tandoor items, and of course, rich curries. As someone who has eaten and enjoyed such food on an almost daily basis for most of my life, it takes just one bite to determine if a dish does justice to the Indian tag.

And Indico is one of the few places where no dish has disappointed me yet! On my last visit, I had a long three-course meal and it was just about perfect. I ordered a Mango Martini with Popadom and Chutney to munch on. For starters, we had Gol Gappa Bombs and Punjabi Samosa Chaat – both dishes were innovative re-workings of traditional Indian snack foods. For the main course, we picked Indian party specials – Dal Makhani and Paneer Makhanwala – with hot, crispy tandoori rotis. The curries were deliciously rich and the crunch from the roti, the perfect combination.

The meal concluded with two popular Indian desserts – Gulab Jamun and Ras Malai – they were every bit as delectable as I wished them to be.

All in all, to me, eating at Indico Street Kitchen is always a pleasant experience. They have different themes they follow on some days and my favourite is the Curry Night hosted on all Mondays. Here you get a free drink or 2+1 on cocktails with every curry. Often there are other promotions going on instead which make the dining experience a little bit less heavy on the pocket.

All this together makes Indico Street Kitchen one of the top places to eat Indian food in all of UK. If you haven’t been here yet, make sure to head to Indico soon; your effort will not be wasted for sure!

Toc Watch New Collection Feature – Ulysses

As a fashion enthusiast, accessorizing well has always been very important to me. And watches rank high on my list of favourite accessories, mostly on account of their unparalleled versatility. Of late, I have been wearing Toc Watches rather often, so here is a peek into this up and coming brand of highly covetable timepieces.

Toc Watch is the brain-child of two friends and entrepreneurs – Will and Max – who decided to capitalize on their creativity and set us this watch company. They began with the groundwork in 2016 and come July 2017, the first Toc Watch – Toc19 – hit the market. I got my first Toc Watch recently, and am absolutely in love with its chic minimalism.

As you can see in the picture, my Toc Watch has a pearl pink dial and deep burgundy strap. This classic stylistics and bold contours make for a striking wrist accessory. I teamed it up with a grey pom-pom sweater and simple blue jeans. The elegant watch is a perfect complement to my casual outfit as well as the distinctly British ambience I’m foregrounding. And this is USP of Toc Watches – they are distinctive without being overtly flashy and a most versatile fashion add-on that matches almost any outfit or occasion.

Toc Watches are characterized by their retro-inspired look and robust mechanics. Their first collection, i.e., the Toc19s, are all hand wound, which adds to their old-world charm. What I personally love the most is that their exterior is extremely sturdy with fine quality leather, sapphire crystal glass, and splash-proof quality. Since I am clumsy sometimes, especially when in a hurry, having a durable watch is quite the saviour. I wear my Toc Watch to work, to casual outings, formal events, and on date nights even. Those are just a few of the pleasures of having a tough but beautiful wrist watch!

After the Toc19, Toc Watch has come up with a second collection called Ulysses. This collection retains the vintage design though with enhanced nuances of modernity. There are more options in terms of dial colours and strap options, and they are available in both hand wound as well as automatic variants. Though the Ulysses collection is a magnificent coalescence of classic and edgy sensibilities, it is uniquely representative of the Toc Watch philosophy that understated class, and inimitable exquisiteness, are the hallmarks of a good watch.

My concluding thought is that watches are a great way to augment the glamour quotient of an outfit. And if you have a Toc Watch to sport, you can rest assured that your watch is going to win you loads of compliments. Mine most certainly did! How about you?

Healthy Food Habits to Start the New Year

2018 is here and it’s time to make sure our resolutions are followed through. There might be a long list to consider, but one thing that everyone wants to make sure is to be healthier and happier in the year to come. When it comes to being healthier, a lot depends on the kind of food you eat and the lifestyle you follow. So if you are looking to revamp your food habits in the next year, here are a few tried and tested tips I would recommend:

Pack variety in your daily diet

The best way to give yourself a kick start in the New Year is to pack variety in your daily diet. Balance your nutrients, with plenty of protein and vitamins, healthy carbs, and minerals in your daily menu. I suggest at least five servings of fresh fruits and veggies in a day, with precedence to high-antioxidant sources such as berries and leafy greens. Look for some colour in your plate as coloured foods are high in anti-oxidants.

Be selective with your fats

Who says that fats are always unhealthy!! Learn to differentiate between “good” fat and “bad” fat so that you can be selective. I have experienced the difference after switching over to the healthier options such as olive oil and coconut oil. Omega-3s are the healthiest form that you can get from sardines, salmon, walnuts and almonds. On the other hand, keep away from processed foods that are high in unhealthy trans-fats.

Start the day with a healthy breakfast

If you have been ditching your breakfast in the last year, it’s time to start having a hearty one now. Believe me, you are not doing any favour to yourself by missing your daily bowl of cereal. A full breakfast keeps you satiated and gives you all the energy you need through the day. At the same time, it prevents hunger pangs, which is great news for weight-watchers.

Go low on sugar and salt

This year, cut down on your sugar and salt intake so that you can curb weight gain and bloating. This healthy habit can also alleviate the risk of chronic health issues such as diabetes and hypertension too. Substitute this with healthier options such as honey, rock salt and spices. Try out healthier recipes with these healthier ingredients and who knows, you may come up with a stellar one!

Be generous with water

And, the best resolution that you can make for a healthier 2018, is to increase your daily water intake to at least 10 glasses. Water is a superb natural detoxifying agent and does wonders for your digestion, skin, hair, and the entire body. Opt for water instead of drinking energy drinks, flavoured juices and sodas. Warm water after meals makes a great way to digest food faster and easier.

Aren’t these food habits simple to adopt? Yes, they are and most amazingly, the changes they can bring are really, really effective. And most importantly, combine them with regular exercise and healthy lifestyle to have a great year 2018.

Digital Detox: How Important It Is To De-addict?

Digital Detox: Why I chose to disconnect with the phone and connect with life?

How hard it is to imagine life without our smartphones, isn’t it? Now that a majority of us are hooked to them, there seems hardly a waking (perhaps, even sleeping) moment that we can keep away. Let’s admit it- we are addicted and there are verified stats that establish this fact. Surveys have reported that an average person checks the phone almost 200 times a day, which comes to once in about every 6.5 minutes! And surprisingly, 1 in 4 people spend more time online than they do asleep.

Digital detox is a term that has been coined to explain the journey that takes people away from their smartphones, back to their real connections. Recently, I read the book “OFF” by Tanya Goodin that inspired me to try a detox on myself. Amazingly, as I decided to unplug for a few hours in a day, it felt like reclaiming my own life. Now that I have experienced the healing effects of digital detox, here are a few tips I have to share for those looking to purge their lives from the deadly smartphone effect:

Start small: Since keeping your smartphone away seems so impossible, I suggest that you try starting small. Ditching the screen for the night at least or having a phone-free weekend, are a few good ideas. Or you can simply try to increase the gap between your “back to phone” moments.

De-clutter your phone: Uninstall all the apps that keep you stuck to your phone. A majority of us are habitual to going back to the phone time and again to check our social media accounts. I cant recommend deleting them as I am blogger myself but following some social media free time and keeping the addictiveness in control is very important

Practice self-discipline: There is a need to practice self-discipline, overcome the temptation and stick to the detox plan. Countries like Japan encourage digital detox by conducting special tours where people are supposed to relinquish their devices before starting a nature walk.

Involve others: Have a detox buddy or get the entire family to take the digital detox plan. This brings people closer, as they can connect with each other rather than be glued to their device screens even when out for dinners or in social gatherings.

Keep them out of sight: The best way is to keep your smartphone out of sight so that it gets out of mind. And you can share an alternative way to get in touch if someone might need to get in touch “just in case”.

Don’t these simple tricks make digital detox sound easier? Believe me, they do make it easier! As we step into the New Year, let’s all make the resolution to try these so that we can disconnect and get connected with life once again.

Drayton Manor Park Day Out

Summers are the best spent outdoors. Enjoying the sunshine, great weather and packing a picnic for a day out in the park are things I thoroughly enjoy. There are a lot of parks in and around UK where you can spend an entire day with your friends and family. I love spending time with my family. A popular hit with my kid is the Drayton Manor Park. The major attraction for him was the Thomas Land which usually runs between March and October. Thomas Land has over 25 attractions like the runaway coaster for the thrill seekers and the Terence’s Driving School for your little car fan. Your little Thomas can spend some time with his other friends Percy, Rosie and more. My son loves the Thomas Tank Engine.

The park has several other fun-filled family attractions for everyone. You can take a flight on Maelstrom and Air Race or get your adrenaline pumping up at the Shockwave roller coaster or make your heart skip a beat at the Apocalypse, a 54m drop tower.

If you are someone you enjoy a slower pace then you can enjoy a stroll in the 15-acre zoo and spend some time with animals like Sumatran Tigers and Meerkats from all around the world. You can even take your child on a magical ride to the Island of Sodor.

Apart from these attractions they even have a range of workshops, events and activities planned for the whole family. Whether you love dinosaurs or are passionate about science. The Drayton Manor Park has attractions which are engaging and enjoyable by all. You can even spend a weekend with your family and get away from the busy city life. The park has a 4 star Drayton Manor Hotel with 150 rooms, 2, bars and restaurants. We went to the park on a bank holiday weekend which was very busy. They were able to accommodate 12000 people on that day. But the best part was the extended hours. We all had a lot of fun. I let out the inner child in me and enjoyed without any inhibitions on several rides. I really recommend the roller coaster and Thomas Train. It’s a great day out in a short distance from Birmingham.

I love to enjoy my day out in comfortable clothing as I have to keep up with my kid. I wore ripped crop jeans and a distressed top. I paired the outfit with a denim jacket. Denim is back with a bang and it’s very comfortable and perfect for summer weathers. I knotted the top on one side for a sporty look. Last but not the least when you know you are going to be walking a lot there is nothing better than sneakers to style your outfit.

Have you ever been to the Drayton Manor Park? What’s your favourite attraction? Let me know in the comments below.

On Ode to Modern Indian Woman – A Perfect Combination of Tradition and Modernity

The journey of the modern Indian woman has been an exemplary one. She has made a phenomenal transition, shedding her conservative avatar and stepping into the shoes of a bread-earner, a financial contributor. At the same time, she is still close to her roots as she understands the significance of being a daughter, a wife, a daughter-in-law and a mother. Truly, she has evolved as an individual and today, she emulates a perfect combination of tradition and modernity.

Yes, there are hindrances that curb her growth as an individual in her own right, but the modern Indian woman has proved her mettle by emerging strongly in the face of every single challenge. She has successfully managed to walk the tightrope and balance the roles of a homemaker and a professional. She has traditional values but her modern frame of mind aligns these values with the current lifestyle. Marriage is perhaps the most challenging phase of her evolution as she has to live up to the new family’s expectations without losing her individuality.  However, she is all set to embrace this challenge and use it as an opportunity to show her true colours.

Marriage should come at the right time

Today, the Indian woman has to be very sure about taking the big leap otherwise she would not do it. For her, marriage has to come only when she is ready for it, not when parents set up a timeline or as they seem to approach the “societal deadline”. The same goes for the choice of a life partner, whether the match is arranged or otherwise. Living with in-laws is no longer a cause for concern as this confident young woman usually looks to sort things out before stepping into the relationship. She would prefer an open discussion with her partner so that there are no misunderstandings once they begin their life together.

She is ready to be different and challenge conventions

The confident Indian diva is ready to think differently and challenge conventions. She is a leader and not a follower. She expects respect and love from her partner and is willing to give it back, but without making any compromises. And the same goes for her workplace. She is totally effortless as she slips into the role of a corporate professional from that of a homemaker. This is the woman who would love to try out a saree with a pair of jeans or take up a job which is quintessentially a part of the “male arena”. This is the woman who does not hesitate to voice out her opinion at home or at her workplace.

She loves being herself in her relationships

Whether it is marriage or work, the modern Indian woman is keen to be who she really is instead of wearing a fake face. To her, being different is about loving her personality and not changing it to make others happy. She is assertive, clear about her aspirations as well as her boundaries. She is not afraid to portray herself as an individual with her own needs as opposed to the notion of being a traditional homemaker who is willing to give up her wishes for others. She values her happiness and independence as much as those of her partner, children, family, and colleagues. Faking happiness is no longer her way of life as she is who she is, a unique individual with her own opinions, values, sensibilities and intelligence.

She loves the Indian culture but does not follow it blindly

Today’s woman is progressive in thinking but still, has a deep-rooted respect for the Indian culture and traditions. Whether it is about adorning “sindoor” or fasting on karwa chauth, she loves following the traditions yet is not staunch while she follows conventions. She holds customs close to her heart but has the flexibility to adapt according to the situation. Both her home and career are important to her and she makes sure that neither of the two is compromised for the other one.

Things are easier for single Indian women but marriage definitely spells change for them. However, the mindset in the country has undergone a significant change as people are opening up to the idea of having a daughter-in-law who would not give up her career post-marriage. The positive change in this direction has to come from the woman as well as her family, and of course, her partner.

Farm Love and English Summer

I love those lazy summer days, walking barefoot on the crisp lawn and laying down in the shade. Summers in the UK are short but when the sun is out I love to make the most of it. Just slather on some sunscreen, pack a picnic, and enjoy the popsicles and ice cream while enjoying the sun. If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I am crazy about farms, parks and greenery. I love nature and enjoy being outdoors when the weather is good. This season I have made it a point to visit some of the most beautiful farms around the UK. I must say I had tons of fun with my family.

Last year I visited Manor Farm Fruits for a Pick Your Own Fruit Picnic. This is a very popular British summer activity for families and kids. Here you visit farms which produce fruits and are open to welcome visitors to let them pick their own fruit and vegetables fresh from the field. These usually include strawberries, raspberry, blackberries and gooseberries. Summer season mainly falls in the month of July and but fruits like blueberry are harvested towards the end of August or September. This farm is close to Birmingham, and I had such a great time last time I was here that I made a point to visit them this summer as well.

Apart from this, they have a small café and a play area for kids. The best part of this activity is that you get to take fresh fruits back home and make yummy puddings, smoothies, and jams with it. Usually, the farms provide baskets or containers to pick the produce. There are signposts to spot the crops. And you weigh the produce and are charged per kg for the fruit. When going to a farm, its best to wear something which is very comfortable. You also tend to get a bit dirty when picking fruits. You can’t enjoy fully if you are too worried about getting dirty. I paired my cropped distressed denim with a striped cold shoulder top and white sneakers. The cold shoulder has been in style for quite a while and I absolutely love this trend. I love how my outfit contrasts with the strawberries I have picked out.

When talking about English Summer the lavender fields are the most popular attraction.

They start blooming from mid-July. I visited the Cotswold Lavender Fields in Broadway England. You can enjoy a lovely sunset overlooking the lavender fields. It’s just like starring in your own Hollywood movie. The minute you step into the lavender fields you are overwhelmed by the fragrance of lavender. I love the fragrance of lavender as it is very soothing and relaxing. The fields are absolutely stunning and are surrounded by rolling hills, trees and clear blue skies. They even have their own café which offers a unique culinary experience.

You can enjoy some Earl Gray Lavender Tea or even some Lavender Chocolate. Apart from a quaint café they also have a lavender oil processing unit. Apart from essential oil, they even have soaps, diffusers, bath salts and more. They have something to tempt everyone.

The last spot on my bucket list this year was the Real Flower Confetti Farm in Worcester. They are open to the public for 10 days in the summer and it’s a little far away from the city but the trip is worth it. The farm has acres of delphiniums and cornflowers bloom. The flowers only bloom for a few short weeks in the month of July. It’s a spectacular experience to wander alongside the chromatic flowers. The sun-kissed flowers, winding paths and walkways are situated along the Brendon Hill.

It’s one of the most Instagramable countryside views you could ask for. You can enjoy a day with your family or go on a romantic date. The sun-drenched farm fills up your heart with the aroma of the flowers. I enjoyed the day wandering and enjoying the sunset while soaking in the colours. You can take pictures and enjoy some delicious tea, coffee and locally made cakes in The Confetti Café. They even sell natural Confetti Flowers which you can take back as a souvenir. All their orders are handpicked and packed for utmost personalization.  The flower blooms are highly dependent on the weather.

So I suggest you check with the farm before planning a trip. When visiting a farm it is best to wear something breezy and comfortable. I recommend wearing appropriate footwear and shades or a hat as there is very little shade in the field. Also, don’t forget to apply a lot of sunscreen for when it’s sunny. I wore a hush summer dress with prints and lace detailing. I paired the subtle dress with a boho necklace from my upcoming line. The necklace adds a bright pop of colour to my outfit and looks fab with the colourful flowers surrounding me. I completed the look with some quirky accessories to match my outfits like a cocktail ring and bracelets. I am so glad that I could visit this place before they closed for the summer.

This summer has been breathtakingly beautiful for me. I had a wonderful experience enjoying in the fields of summer flowers in the beautiful countryside.

My Experience At Bibury

If you have been following me on Instagram, you probably know that I had recently visited Bibury- a charming, typically Cotswold, village just a short drive from Cirencester. It has rightly been labelled as ‘The most beautiful village in England’.

Arlington Row, owned by the National Trust, is the nationally notable architectural conservation area that is depicted on the inside cover of all UK passports. Its cottages are referred to as the most photographed and beautiful ones in the country.

The River Coln flows through Bibury, sandwiched between the main village street and an expanse of a boggy water meadow known as Rack Isle. With Arlington Row forming a beautiful backdrop, it makes one of the most picturesque scenes one can find in the Cotswolds.

Other attractions in Bibury include the Bibury Trout Farm which is one of the oldest and most attractive trout farms in the country, covering almost 15 acres, where you can learn about trout and also catch your own meal; and the amazing village church, St. Mary’s- a Grade 1 listed building with a Saxon gravestone set into the exterior, a superb Norman doorway and some fine medieval windows.

Bibury is a popular Cotswolds’ attraction that has visitors on sunny summer afternoons as well as on cold winter days. There are several places to eat and drink in the village.

If you are visiting Bibury, then you have a couple of options to choose from, for self-catering rental and bed & breakfast accommodation. There are holiday cottages within a walking distance of Bibury and Arlington, but if you’re looking for bed & breakfast accommodation, you should definitely give Judith at Cotteswold House a call. This family-run business has a Gold Award rating by English Tourism. You could also stay at the Swan hotel, which is at a prime location in the city. It is set on the banks of the river Coln, and a walk across the stone bridge will take you to the village of Arlington. The Swan brasserie serves modern European cuisine prepared from fresh local produce, and fine wines.  Other places to choose from include 33 The Square, Tillows Cottage, Hartwell Farm, Hesters Barn, and Cirencester Hotels amongst others.

During my visit, I stopped for lunch at the Bibury Trout Farm. Their fresh and smoked trout is a well-liked delicacy and is best when barbecued.

Apart from the Trout Farm and the Swan Brasserie, you could also visit The Catherine Wheel Pub for a fine choice of beers and wines.

Now talking about what I wore to Bibury, which most of my Instagram followers seem excited about, my outfit of the day incorporated the very trending boho-chic theme, but with an ethnic twist. Since I was travelling, I wanted to be very comfortable but only without compromising on my style quotient. So I chose to pair a flared indigo kurti with jeans and my go-to sneakers. I also threw on a chunky silver necklace for that fun, bohemian vibe. As most of us know, the colour indigo is the season’s new neutral hue that should totally make its way into your wardrobe right now. It can be mixed with other colours or can just be worn by itself. The kurta I have worn is dual-patterned and flared from below the bust. This gives it a fun, feminine look.

And of course, one can never underestimate the power of an accessory and especially a bohemian statement necklace. A necklace immediately amps up your casual look and that’s exactly what it has done to my simple, travel-friendly outfit as well. And lastly, you can never go wrong with a comfy pair of sneakers. It won’t stop you from enjoying yourself, won’t give your feet blisters and certainly won’t bring kill your look.

Mykonos Food Scene – Restaurant Recommendations

If you are planning to travel to Mykonos then look no further as this post will help you with some of the best and unique restaurants in Mykonos on your travels.

Food has and would always be a major deciding factor while zeroing down on a travel destination. For many of us, there is no better way to experience a place than exploring various places to eat. While I cannot stop gushing about the quirky places to eat, there were a couple of them that stood out and are must try:

Kuzina: The beach facing restaurant in the Mykonos Ammos hotel is not only known for the beautiful Aegean Sea views but lip smacking food, especially the sushi (the sushi chef is a master at making yummy sushi). The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner date complete with Greek soft music, drinks, and friendly staff. If you are staying at the Ammos hotel, you can even go ahead and try their big breakfast spreads and lunch menus.

Sic, coffee bar: This brand-new coffee shop is located at the heart of the island called the town square. The café located amidst the white washed architecture is perfect to stop for a caffeine shot and small nibbles. The café, being newly constructed is a refreshing welcome for all of us wanting to take a break from walking around the town.

Sunset Bar: Always dreamt of sitting back with a glass of a cool cocktail and watching the sun go down in the horizon? Well, it need not be a dream anymore, because the Sunset bar, located in little Venice is perfect to sit back, relax with a refreshing drink and watch the sunset. You can also get a great view of the town itself, so all in all a great place to chill and unwind after a hard day. Just make sure, you get there in time to watch the sun set.

Veranda Bar: Again, a lovely bar in Little Venice, perfectly situated to watch the sunset and windmills. It is best to take the water edge seats to have good views of the windmill and sunset. Not to mention, their refreshing range of cocktails especially ‘the third windmill’ is a must try. If in doubt about the choice of cocktails, simply ask one of their friendly staff members to help you out.

Vinos: A cozy little place located in the heart of the Mykonos town is a great outdoor place to unwind for a drink and yummy food. They have an extensive selection of Greek wines that pair up wonderfully well with the freshly prepared foods like salads, cheese, and curated meats. If you are too confused about the wines, simply ask one of the ever so friendly staff members for a recommendation. So, sit back and have a guaranteed lovely evening.

D’Angelo Mykonos: There is always an Italian restaurant gem in every city and Mykonos is not an exception. The Italian style bistro is situated en route to the Windmills and is a pleasant outdoor restaurant. They have a wide range of authentic pizzas and pasta, with a wide array of options to satisfy even a vegetarian like me. The wine and food are clear winners here. This is one place we would not mind returning to.

While the list of places to eat are never ending and we need multiple trips to Mykonos to cover them all, but overall the island has surprised us with multiple options to choose from, thereby satisfying every mood and palate. But most importantly the ambience, pretty views, and friendliness of the staff added a cherry to the cake.

Beach Beauty Essentials

Summer breeze, the sun, sand and the sea all call for a beach day.

With the weather getting better, you can’t stay indoors and the beach is a perfect getaway. But packing for the beach can be tricky. Also, the sun and sea don’t get along with skin and hair very well. Sun burns, tans, frizzy unruly hair and many other issues can ruin your vacation and that’s the last thing you want. Be a beach beauty with these must have beauty products in your beach bag.

Here is a snap of the products I packed into my bag for my last beach holiday.
Take a leaf from my book of advice and don’t forget to take these must have products with you.

Be a beach beauty with these must have beauty products in your beach bag:

  1. Sunscreen: Wearing sunscreen every day is an unwritten rule in the book of skin care so the beach is no exception. You may use SPF 20 – 30 for regular use but for beach holiday go for a sunscreen with UV A/B protection with SPF 50 or more which is water resistant.
  1. Tinted moisturizer with SPF: If you are not in the mood for applying a foundation and want to go for a minimalistic makeup routine then go for a light non-greasy formula when picking a tinted moisturizer. It helps even out the skin tone and keeps your face hydrated and also protects you when stepping out.
  1. Primer with SPF: For a long lasting picture perfect make up invest in a light weight primer with SPF for skin protection. The primer will give you an even base for your makeup and also help cover any redness because of sun exposure easily.
  1. Powder based foundation: Cream based or liquid foundation can give you an oily finish or a melted look. Powder based foundations are great during the summer to achieve a sweat proof makeup look.
  1. Lip balm: The last thing you want is dry and chapped lips. It’s important to moisturize your lips even during the summer. I prefer using a lip balm with SPF, especially if I’m stepping out in the sun. Also, your lipstick or gloss looks way better on hydrated lips.
  1. Blue eyeliner: Ditch the black eyeliner on your beach holiday. Summers are all about vibrant colors. Let your makeup reflect that summer vibe with colored eyeliners.
  1. Sea salt hairspray: The sun exposure, dips in the salty ocean and chlorine filled pools can take a toll on your hair. To add to that you often end up using styling tools to avoid frizzy hair because of the humidity. Switch your styling tools and products for a sea salt spray and flaunt those beachy waves effortlessly.
  1. Body Mist: A body mist is light and perfect for the beach. You can carry a small bottle in your beach bag for a refreshing spray whenever you are feeling sticky or sweaty. Get a floral or zesty fragrance for the summer.
  2. Conditioner: With all the sea salt and humidity in the air, a good conditioner is a must to make sure your locks well cared for no matter what and I have chosen the Redken Volumising conditioner to make sure my hairs are not flat.
  3. Hat, Sunglasses & Book & Magazines – These are some of the accessories that are a must in your beach bag to give you right protection from the sun and also some entertainment when you are sun bathing on the beach.

Are there any products that you never travel without on your beach holiday? Let me know in the comments below.
