Winter Outfit Styling Tips

There’s something about the winters that makes you fall in love with the season. The hot cocoa, snuggly nights by the fire place, Christmas, the snow and winter wear which makes the season special. But winter fashion can be tricky. You can easily look like a mess or freeze to death if you don’t get your outfit right. Many of us sometime think that winter fashion is boring and you have to replace your cute floral dresses with grey and dull sweaters. But winter fashion can also be interesting with a few tips and tricks. This winter let’s transform your winter wardrobe with these styling tips:
Skinny Jeans: Skinny Jeans are a must have for this season as they are extremely versatile, keep you warm and give a slender look to your outfit. Be it ripped or leather, one can never go wrong with skinny jeans. Team up a pair of skinny jeans with ankle booties and a cashmere sweater for a casual look. Skinny jeans or straight cut pants also look great with oversized coats without making your outfit look bulky. If you prefer wide legged pants then opt for a more structured coat and wedges for a chic look.

Wrap/Scarves: Wraps and Scarves can be your best friend this season. They can make any outfit stylish and fun in minutes. So invest in a variety of colorful and textured wraps and scarves. Also don’t be afraid to experiment with the different styles of wearing a scarf. Make the scarf the hero of the outfit by looping it around a plain black dress and transform your look.

Boots: Boots are a must have this season. Ankle boots are great for daily wear; you can pair them with almost any outfit. Be it a maxi dress and a jacket or turtleneck top and skinny jeans. Over the knee boots are also extremely stylish. Pair them with a printed skirt, a knitted dress or even over your skinny jeans for a trendy look.

Turtlenecks: Turtlenecks are great for winters. They keep you warm and can be worn for office wear as well as casual wear. Tuck in a turtleneck top with your favorite pair of trousers and a well fitted blazer with loafers for a stylish office look. You can also wear it by itself with a pair of jeans and some long necklaces for everyday wear.

Leather Jacket: A leather jacket is a wardrobe essential. Create a biker girl look by teaming it up with a pair of knee length boots, skinny jeans, and a graphic tee. Or pair it over a floral dress for a cool and casual look. You can invest in a basic black jacket or opt for colors like brown, tan, maroon or camel.

Jumpers: Cashmere jumpers are vital for winter. You can dress them up or down easily during the season. They are also extremely versatile, classy and look great with jeans, midi skirts, or dresses. For a formal look wear it with a collared shirt, a pair of trousers and a trench coat. You can also wear them with jeans, a statement bag and peep-toe ankle boots. For windy days you can team it up with a wrap to keep yourself warm.

Hats: Hats are like scarves. They add an element of fun to your outfit instantly. They can transform a boring black sweater to something chic if paired correctly. Team up a beanie with a formal dress, a trench coat and heels for office or pair a fedora with wide legged pants, loafers and a cashmere sweater for relaxed look.

Suede Dresses: Suede, Wool or velvet are the fabrics of the season. Style a suede dress with a cropped jacket, ankle length booties, leg warmers or stockings and a fedora hat for a boho look. You can also invest in suede or velvet skirts in bright hues like red, blue or maroon and create fun looks.

Statement Coat: Add a pop of color to your neutral wardrobe by investing in a statement coat. They can be oversized in vibrant hues like pink, orange or red or be textured and in neutral shades like black and grey. I have created a look with my statement coat by teaming it up with a pastel pink blouse, straight cut jeans and peep-toe boots for a casual look.

Latest Indian Fashion Trends to Keep You Sorted

The Indian Bride needs no introduction; she struts with elegance and vibrancy whilst maintaining poised and dignified. There was never any dearth of creativity and experimentation in the bridal wear department, and with ever-evolving Indian fashion, but it is only getting better! Whether you want to play it low-key or go all out and make a splash, you can find options galore depending on your taste and style. The key to reflecting your inner beauty and joy has always been to stay true to your personal style. You are sure to exude confidence when you’re comfortable with your fashion choices. However, that does not mean that you compromise on staying in trend.

A blend of your personal style and emerging styles is the best way to go! It would be important to note that more than 73% Indian Brides who live abroad prefer to have their Wedding outfit custom- made to their taste (Source- Indian Hanger).

Keeping this in mind, we’ve listed down our tips on what you should look for when picking out your trousseau. The outfits featured in this post are available on IndianHanger.com.

  1. Play with colours: Gold, Beige and hues of Green are the new Reds. Elegant beige and gold Lehengas with ornate gold embroidery is sure to make any bride look divine! Since it is a classic ensemble, it is suitable for any Bride, irrespective of your personal style. Opting for these combinations also makes the piece versatile, as it can be worn at a later date as well.
  2. Fabrics: You can choose from silk, georgette, and even Banarasi silks with zari work to make a statement. Team your gold saree with a pop of colour in your blouse or choli to break the monotony. The highlight of such outfits is
that you can match them with any kind of jewellery; be it polki, antique gold or diamonds to complete the Royal look.
  3. Add a twist to your traditional outfits: Mix and match and play around your wardrobe a little to create a style statement. You can team a traditional lehenga with an embroidered off-shoulder or cold shoulder blouse just like the runway hits by Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. This gives you plenty of room to show off your heirloom polki jewellery or tiered necklaces. Printed or embroidered crop tops in beautiful fabrics such as silk and brocade can be teamed with modern dhoti pants, sarees, high waisted skirts or lehengas to add versatility to your collection.
  4. Indo-western silhouettes: It’s time for Anarkalis and Lehengas to move over, so that we can say Hello to Gowns! Saree gowns and draped gowns are sure shot head-turners during a cocktail or reception party. You can also play around with a one shoulder cut that flares along the hem, anarkali gowns or organza pleats this season. They blend very well with traditional Indian accessories, whilst making a style statement of their own. Just a tip to keep in mind: Make sure that they do not weigh you down as that can be a dampner!
  5. Jacketed in style: Re-usable separates like jackets are quite a hit when teamed with palazzo pants, skirts, lehengas or even a saree. Choose from a heavily embroidered open jacket in dark hues such as brown, navy blue, maroon or black to go along with a simple saree with a gold border. Jackets are the go-to option for a Sangeet, as they are comfortable and will enable you to dance the night away!
  6. Get some velvet: The soft and luxe velvet fabric is a must have for every bride. Watch the intricate zari work/ embroidery come alive in velvet! If you prefer a minimalistic look, you can start by pairing your embellished saree with velvet blouses. If you are going for a heavier look, you can try an all over velvet embroidered lehenga. Believe me, it will make you look drop dead gorgeous!
  7. Accessories: You can always team your outfit with traditional polki, diamonds and gold. But how about adding some chand maang tikkas to look like the Royal Queen that you truly are! Try a chunky bracelet for your reception party and give the bangles a break. The Kamarbandh or the waistband has been a runway hit too. You can choose from plain, narrow, printed or embellished Kamarbandh’s in all shapes and sizes. It can be worn as a belt around your waist or under your blouse to give it that high waisted silhouette.

Style Advice – Let’s Experiment, Let’s be Bold

I am someone who is addicted to black. It’s a colour that I end up picking out all the time. I feel comfortable, confident and chic in black. But over the past few days, I was just going through my wardrobe and realised that I have a lot of black in my wardrobe. Black has a lot of benefits, it makes you look slimmer, and it’s versatile, matches well with other colours, it perfect for any time of the day, you can jazz up the colour easily and more. But however flattering the colour maybe for many people, I believe it’s important to have some colour in your wardrobe and break the monotone of black from our life.

I am not banning you all from black. But there is something such as too much of a good thing. Many times people also term as black as boring or dull, especially when you wear it all the time. Adding colour to your wardrobe can get tricky at times. It is important to know which colour can work for your skin and then play with tones and create lots of new outfits. Colour is one of the elements which can instantly style up your look. But when picking out a colour its best to understand your skin tone to see what suits you the best.

If you have a warm skin tone i.e. you have greenish, yellowish or light brown skin then you should go for warm colours like olive, coral, honey, and beige. If you have a cool skin tone i.e. you have pink, blue or rosy skin then you should go for cool colours like lavender, grey, blue or rose. If you have a neutral skin with pale or grey shades, then you should wear colours like jade, red, white and medium blue. But there are some colours which look great on every skin tone. These include colours like teal, blush pink, dark purple, marsala and pure white.

When incorporating colour in your outfit, it is important to balance it out.

Here,  I wanted my dress to be a statement piece, so I made sure the rest of my outfit was muted. I paired the wine hued dress with strappy black heels and a black bag. I also matched my lipstick to my outfit, rather than opting for a bright colour and keep the rest of my makeup simple with beachy waves.

I believe it’s important for us to experiment more with colours in our wardrobe, especially in corporate world. Sometimes, our work wardrobe is filled with boring neutrals like black, brown or navy blue. When working with people I’ve mostly seen that they have a monotone of one colour or lots of outfits in the same colour. But when we wear bright colours people remember us more than when we were the regular black. Incorporate some colour in your work wear by wearing a brightly coloured jacket with your formal black dress; offset your staple outfit by making the accessories the star by wearing bright-hued heels or a bag, step out in bright bottoms. Colour blocking is a new trend, use this technique by using black and shades of blue.

Your black’s have a special place in your wardrobe but don’t be afraid to experiment with a little colour.

Let’s get bold.

New Year Outfit Inspiration

New Year is all about a new beginning, moving forward, resolutions, dreams and hopes. But New Year also means party, time to celebrate the present and enjoy. I love the holiday season and love to end the year with a bang. I have always been enthusiastic about New Years Eve. Even as a kid, I loved to go to parties or gatherings. So every year I would look forward to my New Year plan with much excitement, I guess it was the shopping that got me most pumped up about the whole day. I would start looking for my outfit almost a month in advance.

Since New Year is something big for me, so is my dressing for the event. It’s such a glamorous event that I need my outfit to show my excitement. So for me sequins, sparkle or glitter in some form is a must. Also, it is apt for New Year since the parties are at night and everyone is dressed to impress.  I prefer wearing bright colours over a usual black dress. You instantly stand out in the crowd with a little pop of colour.

So I guess by now you guys must have realised how excited I get about New Years. But I get even happier when I find the perfect outfit for this day. For years I have worn a dress more a less, so this year I wanted to wear something totally different and break the monotony. After hunting for an outfit for over 10-15 days I choose a lovely sequined top and a high-low skirt from Coast. It’s been a task for me to find this outfit since I’m a very selective person.

It’s a short capped sleeve sequined top in tones of blue and purple which teams up perfectly with the glamorous high-low skirt. Usually, if you purchase a fancy dress for New Year, then you don’t really get enough occasions to wear it again. But this outfit is extremely versatile. The top can be paired with jeans and even with lehenga or saree. I might do a fun post on this later. Just keep an eye out for this 🙂 and the skirt is so pretty that it will make a great addition to my cocktail wardrobe. I am pairing up the pieces with a silver clutch and silver high heels.

But if you are someone who doesn’t like to wear a sequined outfit then you can have some sparkle in your accessories like a clutch or hat. You can also pair a sequined mini skirt with a solid coloured blouse. Sequins can get tricky. To avoid looking like a shiny disco ball make sure that you don’t wear sequins from top to bottom. Let one item in your outfit be the hero.

I’m all set with my New Year outfit, so stay around to get a glimpse of my look and find out where and how I spent my new years eve…it’s a little hush hush for now.

Top 10 Tips – For Your Accessories

Love looking your best, but have no time to keep up with new, fab beauty & fashion mantras? Here’s the Top 10 tips that’ll help you look your best and take care of your outfit style!
accessoriesFor Your Accessories

  • Never go completely bare in terms of accessories, even if you are a minimalist. Add character to your outfit by adding a unique touch with some trinket.
  • Cocktails rings and statement neckpieces are always in vogue. Stock up on a few and whip them out whenever in need of some quick glam.
  • Hair accessories such as clips, beads and chains are wonderful for those days when you don’t want to wear any jewellery.
  • Belts are the most underrated accessory – they can completely transform the look of an outfit. Consider wearing belts with one-piece outfits such as dresses, jumpsuits, etc.
  • When purchasing a clutch or handbag, always go for a size that complements the purpose – compact bags work best for occasion-wear and mid-to-huge sized bags are great for daily use.
  • If you want a particular accessory to stand out, wear it with a black outfit – such apparel naturally foregrounds accessories.
  • When wearing a neckpiece, make sure it complements the neckline of your outfit. For instance, a short chain and pendant wouldn’t look good with a boat-neck top/dress.
  • Rose gold accessories have a young, feminine vibe, so if you want a more delicate look, go for the rose gold ones.
  • Do not over-accessorise, unless you are going for the boho-chic look. Piling on all your bangles, beads, rings and necklaces isn’t a good idea, no matter how simple your outfit is.
  • Keep refreshing your stash of accessories – accessory trends are the simplest and least expensive to keep up with.

For Your Outfit

  • Always dress for the occasion – there is nothing as off-putting as an inappropriately dressed person.
  • Do not wear clothes that are not ironed and thus wrinkly. The fashion police will get you!
  • Go in for styles that flatter your body shape; following fashion trends blindly is simply silly.
  • Make sure you wardrobe has all the staples – an LBD, well-fitted denims, leggings, linen pants, plain-white-tee, boyfriend-shirt and pencil skirt.
  • Wear underclothing that is suitable for the kind of outfit you have on. You should own at least one halter bra, one staples bra and some no-show panties so almost all outfits are taken care of.
  • Try and get used to wearing heels – they give you height, good posture and much confidence.
  • Unless you are purposely going in for an OTT look, match clothing in a balanced way. If your top is printed/embellished/styled, wear a plain bottom. If your bottom-wear is fancy, keep the top simple.
  • As far as possible, try out clothes before buying. Outfits don’t always look the same on people as they do on mannequins.
  • Do not treat leggings as pants!
  • Always wear clothes in colours, shapes and styles that make you happy. Keep in mind, your clothes are a reflection of your personality!

Winter Outfit Inspiration – to get You Season Ready

With the temperatures dropping, it’s time to remove your warm fuzzy winter wear like coats, sweaters, and mufflers.  There are so many textures you can play with and looks you can create by layering up pieces in winter.1-fashionforroyals-20One of the most essential items in every wardrobe is a statement long coat. They are extremely comfortable, warm and stylish. A statement coat can be textured, colorful, or printed. There are also different lengths, cuts and styles available. So you have a lot of options to pick from. Step out of your comfort zone and invest in a non-black coat. They are magnificent and extremely versatile.3-fashionforroyals-23One of the most essential items in every wardrobe is a statement long coat. They are extremely comfortable, warm and stylish. I own a beautiful textured coat in a steel grey colour thanks to Fatface!

Long coats look great in pastel shades, earthy tones like maroon and camel or vibrant hues like pink or red. I added some color in my outfit by pairing the neutral shade coat with a pastel pink top. I wanted a casual everyday look so I didn’t tuck in my top. For a formal look you can even pair the coat with a tucked in blouse. 5-fashionforroyals-26

Since my coat is oversized I paired it with skinny jeans. Peep-toe ankle boots are in this season. On warmers days they are a great option instead of peep-toe pumps. For my look I created soft waves and kept my makeup more natural looking with pink lips to match my outfit. If it is an extremely oversized coat then you can also clasp a belt around your waist to make it more form fitting.

But long coats should not be restricted to skinny jeans and shirt. You can also style a long coat in vibrant colors with a midi dress in black, leg warmers and heels or boots. You can also team up a pencil skirt and a blouse with a long coat. This outfit is great for office, meetings, and formal events. If your outfit is bold and colorful you can match it with a neutral colored long coat to balance out the shades. You can also play a little with your outfit by wearing cropped jeans, shirt and a long coat with block pumps.  You can also layer up the coat with a turtle neck top, ripped jeans and a beanie cap with loafers for a chic look.2-fashionforroyals-22

Menswear as Womenswear – Style Edit

Autumn is the season to try new clothes and mix and match styles with different layers. One of my favorite styles this season is trying some menswear as womenswear in outfits. I love this style because you can create multiple looks without investing a dime in your wardrobe. 😛  Over time such outfits have become a staple in my wardrobe. If you want to experiment with menswear then read on. Here are a few tips on how you can style an outfit from the male wardrobe in your house (be that from your dad’s, brother or partner’s.

1-fashionforroyals-486-fashionforroyals-55

I tried a casual look with my hubby’s office shirt (sorry dear hubby for that, but I haven’t spoiled it ;)). I knotted the shirt around my jeans, so that it doesn’t look oversized and I also rolled the cuff for a casual look. It is a structured outfit, for a more glamorous look you can even pair the outfit with statement heels. I prefer wearing flats whenever possible since they are more comfortable. But that’s just me.3-fashionforroyals-52You can even style this outfit with skinny or crop jeans too, but I have put together this look by going for ripped jeans as I wanted a more casual Friday or a weekend look. If you want you can also button up and tuck in the shirt instead of knotting it up.4-fashionforroyals-53

I am also planning on trying this look with a white shirt or a pair of shorts for a more relaxed look. Sometimes you can steal a jacket: P. You can also have an unbuttoned shirt with a solid colored t-shirt inside.

Here are other ways you can style menswear:

Work Wear: A basic tee or a v-neck tee from your boyfriends wardrobe can be used to style a formal outfit. Tuck in the t-shirt in a pair of skinny jeans or a pencil skirt and team it with a structured blazer and heels. For a more glamorous look you can also add a statement piece of accessory like a necklace or bracelet with a bold lipstick or nail colour.2-fashionforroyals-49

Layer it up: You can also use a shirt as a light jacket on a dress. For a more form fitting look you can add a belt to your outfit. The shirt can help dress down an outfit to create a totally different look.

Dress Shirt: Dress shirts are in this season. Button up a solid colored shirt with a pair of boots or casual shoes. Add a little oomph to your outfit by putting on a belt around the waist or jacket. For autumn you can also team up the shirt with a scarf and a fun hat.5-fashionforroyals-54

Lounge Wear: There is nothing more comfortable than your large size t-shirt for night wear. It is loose, comfortable and looks super cute. Team up a graphic tee with your favorite pjs or shorts for a lazy weekend in bed.9-fashionforroyals-64For all those girls who are single, don’t worry, you can try this style by raiding your dads or brothers cupboards too. But don’t tell them that you got these ideas from me or they might try to kill me …ha ha ha.

Everyone needs a little white dress in their closet. Its versatile, chic and a classic must have for every girl. You can pair it with some bright accessories for a day out in the sun or with metallic accessories and a light jacket for an early dinner with your friends.

A white dress gives you the room to get creative. You can pair it with anything you like a chunky bracelet or just a bold red lipstick.  1-archanasm-50 For instance – You can either pair a skater white dress with a black leather jacket and open toe boots for an edgy look or pair it with tan accessories like a belt and wedges for a casual look. Rock the effortless look at picnic in the park by throwing on a colorful scarf and sandals. If you are not big on accessories like bracelets and earrings then just add a pop of color by carrying a vibrant colored clutch and break the monotony.

For a sporty look you can pair up a white shirt dress with a pair of slip on shoes and a denim jacket and for a classy look you can pair a lacy white dress with strappy white sandals and a bold red lipstick. There are a million ways you can dress up a white dress. I wanted an elegant look so I lightly curled my hair and applied natural makeup and just focused on adding some color to the outfit with a bright lipstick.

3 Ways to Dress up a Wardrobe Staple Striped Dress

A striped dress is a wardrobe staple which is a classic and versatile piece. Stripe is a popular pattern, be it any time of the year. It is something that will never go out of fashion, which makes it a staple and an essential piece in any wardrobe. Even in stripes you have a variety of choices available, from thick horizontal stripes to thin vertical ones. Vertical stripes add height and give a slimming effect whereas, horizontal stripes enhances your bust and waist.
stripe-dress-3You can easily dress up your simple striped dress for almost any occasion. Not sure how to dress up your striped dress?

Read on.

If you are going for a Sunday brunch with your girl friends or just meeting up someone for coffee then a striped dress is a go to item. You can keep it simple by adding a pop of color in your accessories. Carry a bright orange or hot pink clutch and match it with your shoes and VIOLA! You have a fun yet modest outfit.

If you are looking for a more put together look then you can pair the dress with a leather or metallic belt. The belt highlights your waist, making the dress look more feminine. You can add a finishing touch by wearing a pair of peep-toe pumps or wedges.

If you feel that belts are unflattering for your body type then you can also pair a striped dress with a metallic necklace and bracelet along with some strappy sandals.

For a boho look you can pair your dress with peep toe block heels, a cap and a fringed bag or pair it up with a leather jacket and some strappy shoes.stripe-dress-4

You can also experiment by pairing up your stripped dress with other prints and patterns. You can throw on an army printed jacket, lacy vest or a denim jacket. You can even wear a belt or shoes with some animal print on it for an edgy look.

For a little sharp and formal look, you can pair your stripped dress with a blazer and some basic heels.

Now that you know that there are multiple ways in which you can style a striped dress. Check out the 3 ways I dressed up my striped dress:

I picked a black and white combination because it is something you can never be wrong about.

With a scarf: A scarf is a simple way to amp up any look. There are so many types and styles of scarves available for you to experiement. The possibilities are infinite. I added a bit of color to my outfit by throwing on a printed red scarf. I wanted a casual look so I paired up the outfit with black sneakers.stripe-dress-2 With a black velvet choker: Chokers are in trend this season. Make the choker the start of the outfit and go minimal on other accessories. Instead of adding some color to my outfit I went for applying a bright shade of lipstick. Smokey eyes also look great with a choker and a striped dress.stripe-dress-1

With a bag: it is easy, minimalistic and yet stylish. Add a spin to the plain black and white dress with a bright bag like the one I have used.stripe-dress-5

Apart from this, for a casual style you can pair up the dress with sneakers. You can go for a solid shade like black or white or for printed styles. And for more formal look you can pair it up with heels, pumps or peep-toes as well.

The best part about this dress is that it is so versatile. It is something you can wear during any season, be it autumn or winter. For the cooler months you can layer it up with jacket, knitwear and scarves when you want to snuggle. Plus, it gives you protection from the cold weather. During autumn you can wear it as it is or jazz it up with a few accessories in vibrant hues which are in that season. And on rainy days you can pair up your striped dress with your rain boots. Awesome Autumn Vibes – Outfit Inspiration for Exploring

This is a shoutout to all divas who love autumn fashion. Isn’t this just the best time of the year? We are surrounded by rich shades of brown, plum and orange – they are a treat to the eye and staples for this season’s closet. What’s not to love here?fatface-autumn-1 For me, the fascination with Autumn is not limited to the incredible couture culture is offers. It’s also about the wonderful character nature assumes in this while. There’s foliage in different stages of growth, there are these lovely breezes, the skies are clear, evenings get slightly chilly. And I genuinely believe that when your environment is so stimulating, you tend to make the best of fashion choices.fatface-autumn-2So, this outfit post is inspired by the awesome autumn weather and the many outdoor escapes I indulge in around this time. As you can see, I am wearing blue skinny jeans with a black and white striped shirt and sleeveless brown jacket. My entire outfit is from the collection by Fatface which is one of the finest brands creating unique outdoor casuals.fatface-autumn-4The simple jeans and shirt are the perfect complement to the statement fur-lined jacket. I love this hooded beauty for it matches the autumn palette wonderfully – a warm, deep brown shade which mirrors the hues of shed leaves and fallen twigs. Since there is a nip in the air after sunset these days, a sleeve-less jacket is a great way to keep yourself warm, especially if you are out exploring the beauty of nature. Also, it reassures me that it’s not quite winter yet and a just full-sleeves shirt will have me feeling cozy. And of course, layering adds a dash of casual glamour, creating the overall impression of effortless stylishness.fatface-autumn-3Outfit Details:

So ladies, this is my go-to look this season. What about you? What’ll you be spotted in on an evening out this season?

Autumn Style Guide – Coffee date outfit inspiration

Autumn is all about comfort. Snuggly sweaters, warm drinks and pretty colors like yellow, reds, orange and burgundy. It is the season of crisp air and light breeze. It’s a season which makes you fall in love with everything.
What to wear for a date is a dilemma faced by every single girl for ages. It is too flashy, skimpy, casual or formal; nothing seems to be just right. Here’s an outfit post which will help you solve your dilemma of what to wear to a coffee date in autumn. So read on and make a note.
fatface-autumn-1 A coffee date is a safe option for a first date or a date where you want to get to know the person in a casual and comfortable setting. Unlike dancing or going for a movie, a coffee date helps you to really get to know the person and stimulates conversation.

This is a causal situation and hence there is high chance of being under-dressed or over dressed. A simple graphic-tee and jeans would be too casual and a midi skirt with a silk blouse would be a bit too much. If you are confused like the many others on how to nail the coffee date look in autumn then you’ve come to the right place.
This outfit is perfect for an evening date when there is light breeze. It can get a little chilly in the evening in autumn so layering or wrapping up gets essential. But how do you layer your outfits without looking like you wore every possible item in your wardrobe?
fatface-autumn-2Autumn is a season of colors. Add a pop of color in your outfit for a chic look. If you are going for an oversized top or jacket then you can team it up with body hugging skinny jeans.

I paired up my burgundy jeans with a simple grey t-shirt and layered it up with an oversized light cardigan to keep me warm. Burgundy is the color of autumn and I have teamed up burgundy with grey. A wrap jacket is a good way to snuggle and feel cozy when the temperature drops in evening. Use a solid frame bag when the outfit is a bit casual to give your outfit edge. Keep your make up simple as a coffee date is a casual affair. Burgundy lips are also in this fall.
fatface-autumn-3You can layer up a dark tshirt with an oversized knit cardigan. Love the fact that this cardigan has tasselled edges and a beautiful draping in a flecked, stripe-detail yarn, combined . With skinny jeans and the right accessorizes like a cap, and structured bag or high heels you can add the much desired oomph to the outfit without being too over the top.

For an edgy outfit you can also throw on a choker or a statement necklace.  If you love wearing dresses in fall then you can layer it up with a jacket or a scarf. A jacket or a scarf can uplift a simple outfit and make it look elegant. You can also use a cap if you are having a bad hair day and do not want to fuss about your hair.

Summer Styling Tips and Advice

Summer is all about looking hot while staying cool. Fortunately, this year’s looks are very wearable and would work well with a wide range of body types and personalities. Plus, these style suggestions are easy to pull off and they’ll keep you cool as the temperatures rise. The last thing you want is to feel claustrophobic or stuck (literally) to your clothes, so billowy and breezy choices are the way to go. Leave the form-fitting looks for after the sun goes down, along with the high heels, and you’ll avoid common fashion faux pas that summer weather tends to cause. Below are a few of my favourites that should be both cool and flattering.
Summer-Styling-TipsGaga for Gingham
This cute, versatile checked pattern is reminiscent of picnics in the park and other warm weather outings, yet it would also look great incorporated into a daytime work wardrobe. For casual outings, Lyst’s team of stylists suggest choosing dresses in this pattern and accessorise with a cute pair of slip-on style sneakers and rucksack purse. For the office, choose blue gingham trousers and pair with a crisp white-button down for a fresh office look.

Glamorous Glitter
Perfect for going out on those balmy summer nights is the sequin trend that was so popular on the SS 2016 runways. Part of several designers’ resort wear collections, WWD’s editors are huge fans of all things that sparkle. From form-fitting and sequin-embellished tanks that would look great tucked into maxi skirts, to sparkly skinny pants paired with a blazer, this is definitely a wearable trend. Also consider incorporating some glitter into the mix with your accessories. A thin belt, pair of shoes, or headband would all be great ways to easily incorporate some glamorous glitter.

Striking Stripes
Bold and bright are the two key words here when it comes to how the runway shows suggest wearing your stripes this season. I recommend pulling these off by choosing vertical when you want to elongate your body, and horizontal when you want to accentuate an area, like your bust. Have fun with colour and don’t shy away from wide lines—pinstripes need not apply. Whether it’s in the form of a tee to pair with shorts, or a skirt that’s workplace worthy, this is definitely a great summer trend that offers many options.

Sporty Mesh
Mesh that was once popular in the ’90s has made a comeback for spring and summer. This sheer netting is a great choice for wearing with bandeau tops or even as swimsuit coverups. Play with colour by layering a white mesh tank over a solid navy blue tank and pairing with white wide leg trousers for a chic take on the season’s mesh trend.

Romantic Ruffles
Whether it’s the flouncy wave of a hemline or the delicate detail on the sleeve of a tank, ruffles are one of Glamour’s favorite seasonal trends. Flirty and feminine, this embellishment would look great on a chiffon blouse for work, or in the form of a maxi dress that’s perfect for wearing to brunch or a daytime wedding. Don’t forget to accessorise with some of summer’s other trends, like a pair of statement earrings and a mini handbag.

With so many great trends that are both wearable and warm weather friendly, there’s no excuse for not trying a few of these for yourself!

How to Dress Like a Star: Celebrity Fashion on a Budget

If you are a fashion buff like me, you’ve probably lusted after countless outfits on the pages of couture magazines. Even more envy-provoking are the ensembles sported by celebrities – do we ordinary folk ever look that stunning?

Well, you can and you should! It’s all about making smart fashion choices so you look like a million bucks without your clothes having cost quite that much. So let me tell you some simple ways to up your game and dress like a celebrity.

 Embrace Minimalism
shirt-dress-outfit-3Have you ever noticed that the best dressed celebs are often minimalist in their fashion choices? And the reason for this is simple; clean, classic styles are always in vogue and difficult to go wrong with. Minimalism in terms of accessorising, layering and even makeup tends to create a more elegant, sophisticated look. Keep your inner boho-diva in check on days you want to sport a red-carpet appeal.

Concentrate on the FitPanache-Jutti - 5
Rarely would you find any celebrity wearing ill-fitted clothes. Even when the silver-screen prima donnas sport “boyfriend-jeans” or a loose kaftan, the clothes always complement their frame and body structure. When they go to A-list events, their outfits are often tailor-made to fit them perfectly. Now, we can’t customize each dress for a stellar fit, but we can always avoid clothes that don’t fit well. Next time you shop, concentrate more on the fitting rather than the colour, print, etc.

Don’t Forget Hair and Makeup
Lily-and-Rose-Jewellery-5Celebrities are always called out when their hair or makeup is sloppy. Because unkempt hair and badly done makeup is highly noticeable and generally steals all the attention, no matter how lovely the clothes may be. So whenever you dress up, make sure your hair and makeup is on point too. Regardless of what your personal preference is – the “barely-there” look or something more dramatic – make sure it is done tastefully.

 Have An “Air”
wolfandwhistle-spring-bloom-2Another reason why celebs look the way they do is because they carry themselves with immense grace. If you want to look like a star, you’ll have to master that art too. Walk with poise, talk with composure and learn to pose. Developing these “airs” doesn’t mean you can’t have fun though! Just that you need to be a little more conscious of your carriage. After all, everyone’s going to be observing you!

 Be A Sale-Monger
sale-sign-on-line
It cannot be denied that one of the reasons celebrities are our fashion gurus is because they wear the best of the best. We may not be able to afford their kind of couture pieces, but we can surely try. Make sure to pick up a few items during the sale season to wear on special occasions. Sign up for newsletters by individual brands to know of off-season sales too. Basically, you have to be thrifty and smart as a shopper.

And these are just some tips and tricks. You can surely improvise. You probably have your own fashion hacks for looking oh-so-splendid. Care to share? I’d love to know!

Trend Alert: Rucksack bags – Holiday Must Have

So the holiday season is just around the corner and I just love prepping for vacations, Of course I do – it gives me a reason (read excuse) to go shopping! This time around, I picked up a rucksack bag by Harriet Sanders and oh my! Is it a beauty or what? Can’t wait to team it with some trendy holiday outfits and go exploring!Harriet-Sanders-Rucksack-2I’m glad rucksack bags have now become so popular in adult couture. When I was growing up, rucksacks were meant for the prime purpose of carrying books to school. But even as a kid I was very particular about the colour and kind of rucksack I would take to the next school picnic or day trip. And now, many years down the lane, I still find myself thinking about how to style a new rucksack – ahh! Some things never change!
Harriet-Sanders-Rucksack-1Now a rucksack bag is not just a looker. It’s also very useful if you’re going to be spending much time outdoors. It can hold all your essentials but you don’t have to worry about any shoulder aches or discomfort, like you would with other large carryalls; the weight of the bag is evenly distributed across both shoulders and your hands are free to do whatever you want. Rucksacks are thus the perfect accessory for trekking trips and sightseeing sprees.
Harriet-Sanders-Rucksack-3I have to admit though, the practical value of the Harriet Sanders bag is not the only reason I bought it. It also happens to be beautifully designed and seemingly sturdy – I can expect it to last me for several years with ease. And here’s the best part – I chose the design, leather and lining I wanted since all Harriet Sanders bags are customizable in these respects! Yes, you heard it right! Customizable bags!

This is one of the main selling points of this passionate designer’s fast-growing brand. Harriet Sanders’ bags are all made by hand using ethically sourced Italian leather and a uniquely British design sensibility. The emphasis on desirable production practices is commendable and the exclusivity of each production charming. Perhaps this is the reason that Harriet’s creations have won her brand so much recognition and numerous accolades in recent times. She has collaborated with many artists all over the world. She has showcased her collections at prestigious global events too. She has even donated some of her creations to charities! Simply put, she has been winning over fashionistas’ hearts and I too have become a fan of her work.Harriet-Sanders-Rucksack-5Incidentally, her most recent achievement relates to her range of rucksack bags. These were showcased at the Pure London Show in both 2014 and 2015 as part of an exhibition of latest trends in accessories. If you were in any doubt about just how great a fashion statement these bags can be, especially for chic holidayers, this should convince you! And of course, the customization process just adds to the fun! I chose a blue lining on a rust leather base to create a striking rucksack with contrasting hues. Trust me, it looks wonderful!

However to make our black suit a little more fun, pair it with a crisp white shirt or a blouse with bowed collar and a pop of bright lipstick. Spring Summer Trend Alert : Floral Headband Outfit Post

Floral headbands have been making waves in the world of style for some time now. Though this trend was born from the music festival culture and the free-spirited style of those who attend, it has quickly made its way into mainstream street style, sophisticated events and celebrity wardrobes as well! This beautiful accessory can be styled in many different ways; no matter how you wear it, it will instantly add a touch of femininity and freshness to your outfit.

Spring Trend Floral Headband-1 Spring Trend Floral Headband-5 I wanted to create a casual, carefree look, so I decided to play around with this trend myself. And what better time than the start of spring? I styled my floral headband with a gorgeous bohemian maxi dress – the lovely print and strapless style of the dress made it perfect for the ‘bohemian chic’ vibes that I was going for. I absolutely love the free-spirited, flirty feel of this dress, and the colour combination of blue and white screams summertime.

Of course, this look would not have been complete without some accessories to elevate it. I sported a temporary silver tattoo on my hand for some unexpected sparkle. These tattoos are another extremely popular trend, and they’re a great way to add some subtle glamour to an outfit. I love that they allow you to get creative and experiment with body art, sans permanence. Finally, I finished off the ensemble with some minimal jewellery – silver rings for a rustic feel, and an illusion necklace for some barely-there glam.

I have always felt that lightly curled hair works really well with floral headbands, so that’s how I decided to style my tresses. This ‘do is ideal for spring and summertime weddings, when magic is in the air! After all, floral headbands bring a certain dreamy, angelic feel with them. They’re also a must-have for beach vacations and bonfire parties. Floral headbands are a great, fuss-free way to make a spring style statement. I’m obsessed!
