Ingredients:

2 tablespoons fresh coconut milk
1 egg

Method:

In a bowl combine two tablespoons fresh coconut milk and one beaten egg and make a slurry
Apply it on the hair carefully starting from roots to the tips and leave it on for an hour

Repeat the process weekly for desired effects

ALOE VERA & LEMON SHAMPOO

Aloe vera is known as a magic ingredient for both hair and skin. It not only moisturizes the scalp but also helps in balancing the pH levels, thereby promoting hair growth. Lemon, known for its acidic properties fights dandruff and keeps the scalp clean and infection free. When combined together, aloe vera and lemon make the best herbal shampoo for hair loss and dandruff.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Method:

In a bowl, combine both the ingredients and make a thick to runny consistency paste
Wet your hair and gently apply the mixture to the roots and slowly reaching to the tip
Tie your hair into a pony and cover with a cloth and keep it on for 30-35 minutes
Thereafter, wash the hair with cold water and repeat the process twice a week for desired results

NEEM & AMLA SHAMPOO

Neem leaves are known to be antiseptic and enriched with anti-bacterial properties that help in resolving the problem of hair fall and dandruff. It is also known to promote hair growth, stimulate blood flow in th scalp and get rid of lice. Amla or Indian gooseberry, on the other hand, nourishes the hair and provide them with natural shine and thickness. It is rich in vitamin C and hence strengthens the root, preventing hair fall and build collagen. It also prevents premature hair graying.

Ingredients:

10-12 leaves of neem
Water
Pulp of 2 amla or gooseberry

Method:

In a vessel boil 10-12 neem leaves for 5-10 minutes
Once the leaves have boiled and become squishy, add the puree of amla to it and mix well
Now, apply this mixture on wet hair and keep it on for 45-50 minutes
Wash with cold water and repeat the process at least twice a week to get rid of hair fall and other scalp related problems over a period of time

YOGURT & HONEY SHAMPOO

Now what problem can the perfect combination of yogurt and honey not solve? Yogurt is a natural conditioner and contains vitamin B5 and proteins that strengthen hair roots. It helps clean the scalp and remove dead cells from the surface. Honey has anti-bacterial properties and moisturizes the hair roots. Thus, stimulating growth of strong and moisturized hair. Trust us when we say, this is the best mild shampoo for hair loss and other scalp and hair related conditions.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon fresh yogurt
1 teaspoon honey

Method:

In a bowl mix one tablespoon fresh yogurt and a teaspoon of honey and make a paste
Wet the hair and apply the mixture
Keep it on for 15-20 minutes and wash off with cold water
Apply it weekly to naturally condition hair

FENUGREEK, YOGURT & HONEY SHAMPOO

One of the major causes of hair fall is dandruff. If you are experiencing too much hair fall, try to tackle the underlying problem of dandruff with the help of this amazing homemade shampoo. Fenugreek is known to restore damaged hair roots and follicles. Yogurt and honey condition hair by moisturizing the scalp. Thereby, giving you healthy and strong hair.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup fenugreek seeds soaked overnight
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon fresh yogurt

Method:

Soak fenugreek seeds in 1 cup water overnight
In a mixer, grind overnight soaked fenugreek seeds into a paste
To the paste add one tablespoon honey and the same amount of fresh yogurt
Apply the paste on wet hair and keep it on for 30-45 minutes
Wash with cold water and repeat this best herbal shampoo for hair loss and dandruff, at least once a week.

ONION & ROSEWATER SHAMPOO

Onion is known for its anti-bacterial properties and helps overcome scalp infections. Thus, the hair roots are strengthened and hair fall eventually stops. Onion also improves blood circulation which is good for hair health. Rose water hydrates the scalp and makes it soft and supple to stimulate the growth of soft and beautiful hair.

Ingredients:

Juice of an onion
1 tablespoon rose water

Method:

In a bowl, grate a medium sized onion and squeeze its juice
Add a tablespoon of rose water and apply the mixture on wet scalp
Keep it on for 30-35 minutes and wrap a towel around the head
Wash it off with cold water and repeat this homemade shampoo for hair loss weekly for desired results

Our clothes make a statement but our choice of costume for Halloween tells a story because there is no horror, if there’s no imagination involved. So dont forget to involve your imagination in bringing out our your unique halloween look, because this is the time when you can actually go around and play with your make up. You can create a list of horrifying looks. You can also use a subtle smokey makeup look to play around Halloween.

Not just playing with makeup, autumn leaves, pumpkin carvings and lanterns, spooky music, fake spiders set the scene on fire symbolizing the Halloween.

One of the most popular and traditional symbols used in Halloween decoration is the Halloween Pumpkin Lanterns. Make it scarier by adding autumn leaves. Another thing that make it more fun is Trick or Treat custom for children during Halloween when they get a chance to travel from house to house asking for a treat, using the phrase Trick or Treat.

For my Halloween Look, I used this black dress. There are details with lace which are magnifying the beauty and adding oomph to my look. You can wear a different colour or you can play and select something colourful from your wardrobe. As I have always said, our accessories spice up our look. Basically, accessories are making everything better. But, Halloween requires something spicier. So, I’m carrying a broom and wearing a witches hat to complete my Halloween look. The hat and broom are special symbols that add up and complete the look of a witch. Because in the stories, that’s how wicked witches used to be. This becomes an important accessory when you’re trying to portray yourself as a special character.

You can use different types of accessories like wigs, masks, different types of hats and shoes, gloves, glasses and many more items that can help you create a spooky look adding a fun element to your outfit. Go ahead and also play around with the eyeshadow, mascara. Beach Beauty Essentials

Summer breeze, the sun, sand and the sea all call for a beach day.

With the weather getting better, you can’t stay indoors and the beach is a perfect getaway. But packing for the beach can be tricky. Also, the sun and sea don’t get along with skin and hair very well. Sun burns, tans, frizzy unruly hair and many other issues can ruin your vacation and that’s the last thing you want. Be a beach beauty with these must have beauty products in your beach bag.

Sunscreen: Wearing sunscreen every day is an unwritten rule in the book of skin care so the beach is no exception. You may use SPF 20 – 30 for regular use but for beach holiday go for a sunscreen with UV A/B protection with SPF 50 or more which is water resistant.

Tinted moisturizer with SPF: If you are not in the mood for applying a foundation and want to go for a minimalistic makeup routine then go for a light non-greasy formula when picking a tinted moisturizer. It helps even out the skin tone and keeps your face hydrated and also protects you when stepping out.

Primer with SPF: For a long lasting picture perfect make up invest in a light weight primer with SPF for skin protection. The primer will give you an even base for your makeup and also help cover any redness because of sun exposure easily.

Powder based foundation: Cream based or liquid foundation can give you an oily finish or a melted look. Powder based foundations are great during the summer to achieve a sweat proof makeup look.

Lip balm: The last thing you want is dry and chapped lips. It’s important to moisturize your lips even during the summer. I prefer using a lip balm with SPF, especially if I’m stepping out in the sun. Also, your lipstick or gloss looks way better on hydrated lips.

Blue eyeliner: Ditch the black eyeliner on your beach holiday. Summers are all about vibrant colors. Let your makeup reflect that summer vibe with colored eyeliners.

Sea salt hairspray: The sun exposure, dips in the salty ocean and chlorine filled pools can take a toll on your hair. To add to that you often end up using styling tools to avoid frizzy hair because of the humidity. Switch your styling tools and products for a sea salt spray and flaunt those beachy waves effortlessly.

Body Mist: A body mist is light and perfect for the beach. You can carry a small bottle in your beach bag for a refreshing spray whenever you are feeling sticky or sweaty. Get a floral or zesty fragrance for the summer.
Conditioner: With all the sea salt and humidity in the air, a good conditioner is a must to make sure your locks well cared for no matter what and I have chosen the Redken Volumising conditioner to make sure my hairs are not flat.

Festival Makeup – Bohemian Summer Look

It is often said that leave a little sparkle wherever you go. Glitter is one of my favorite when I want to add some oomph to my outfit. It’s never a dull moment when you have some glitter on. A good way to incorporate this trend is my sporting glitter makeup. A little bit of sparkle goes a long way and makes sure people give you a second glance. A lot of times sporting glittery makeup can be a little too intimidating and scary. Also, a lot of people do tend to go a bit overboard with it. The key to dramatic glitter eyes is moderation. So if you want perfect party eyes… then glitter is the way to go!

Here’s how you can wear glitter with ease and steal the show.

I created the glitter makeup look for the Godiva Festival. The Godiva Festival is a three-day free music festival which offers great music, entertainment, international food and drinks, children’s fun fair and more. It’s an all in one event which is celebrated in the city’s War Memorial Park. They have 5 stages, 4 tents and two fields filled with fun activities for everyone.

The festival outfit look has a very boho vibe to it. You generally see people sporting fringes, psychedelic prints, hats, boho jewelry.

Instead of going for the obvious flower crowns and chunky bracelets go for something unexpected and add some glitter makeup to your outfit. I’ve created a very versatile and comfortable festival look.

I paired a red summer dress with some lace detailing with my glitter eye makeup. I matched my makeup with the tiny glitter bag with all my essentials. The dress is quite simple. So, I jazzed it up with my makeup and accessories.

I wanted to keep my jewelry to a minimum because who wants to take care of it while you are having so much fun. So I wrapped my necklace as a bracelet for a funky style and used a neck tattoo instead of jewelry for a more fashionably comfortable look.

There are various ways in which you can pair your outfit with a glittery look. You can even sport a short dress or a long gown and add some color with a contrasting outfit. But when you are trying the glitter look to make sure you match it with your outfit. Avoid looking like a shiny disco ball by complementing it with some sober pieces in your look. Keep your outfit simple so that it can bring out the elegant look and make your makeup look charming. So don’t be afraid to sparkle a little, because she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten.

I am currently obsessed with this glitter makeup look and am planning to create one more look soon. But this time I want to experiment with some colors so I am looking at shades of mauve. Are you excited about this look?

Summers are the perfect time to travel and being a travel addict that I am, I make it a point to travel as often as I can. It helps me relax and rejuvenate myself and one of my favorite travel spots is a beach. It’s one of the best escapes from the city life.

One of the sacred things on a beach holiday is your sunscreen. It’s the one thing you cannot avoid. Take care of your skin when sunbathing for perfect tan lines.
Sunrays and UV rays are harmful. Sunscreen by itself isn’t just enough to protect you. Carry a big floppy hat to cover yourself from the sun and look stylish at the same time. It’s also helpful if you are having a bad hair day because of the humidity.

VLCC Beauty Product Haul Review

A girl can never have enough of beauty products, which does come close to the quintessential pairs of shoes she can own. When you have a plethora of such pretty products from VLCC, your joy knows no bounds. VLCC is one of the pioneers in the beauty and wellness sector, focussing keenly on the needs of the Indian skin and body, which other foreign brands may not really focus on.

Their focus on incorporating the age-old wisdom of Ayurveda into a modern woman’s needs is really worth a mention. I had the privilege of using a range of their products and here is my take on some of their key products-:

Diamond Facial Kit for skin polishing and purification: Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and even your skin’s! As the name suggests, the facial kit actually has diamond bhasma or dust which according to Ayurveda is actually very beneficial to the skin in terms of removing the dullness and tiredness. The kit mainly contains 6 components of a proper skin care regime; a cleanser cum toner, scrub, lotion, gel and a face mask which all need to be used as per directions. All of them are infused with olive oil and jojoba oil to leave your skin soft and supple, but if you have an oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin you may want to avoid this facial to avoid breakouts. I was very pleasantly surprised with precise directions for use and the mild dewy fragrance just left me relaxed. At the end of the facial, there was an instant glow and evened skin tone thanks to the specks of diamond. However, the effect does not last for more than one or two days, thus one needs to consistently use this kit to avail the long term benefits of a toned and glowing skin.

Daily Protect Sunscreen Cream: Sunscreen is more than just a cosmetic; it is a dire need for anyone and everyone who steps out in the sun, to prevent skin damage. This came at a perfect time when the summer heat is building up. With a good SPF 25, the cream is very light, fragrance-free and non-greasy on the skin and did not leave any streaks of white marks that sunscreen creams usually do. It has the goodness of olive oil, papaya extracts to prevent wrinkles and tomato extracts to ensure tightness of the skin. But, one needs to apply this at least 20 minutes before stepping out and re-application is necessary to avail the benefits. So, keep this in mind ladies.

VLCC Lovable Lips: Chapped lips are something that we all deal with throughout the year irrespective of the season. While most of the lip balms contain paraffin wax or mineral oil, this actually contains natural ingredients such as thick shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and almond oil, hence it is priced slightly higher than other lip balms. Though in summers, this may tend to bleed from your lips if you apply too much. The easy application stick and handiness makes it worth holding on to.

Gold polishing scrub: While the benefits of gold adorning your body as ornaments is nothing new, gold dust as a scrub seems to be even more exciting. Egyptian Queens like Cleopatra used gold masks to keep their skin young and polished. Closer to home, Ayurveda recommends real gold dust in skin care products like moisturisers, cleansers etc to improve youthfulness and increased oxygenation to the skin. From the moment you squeeze out a little scrub on your palms, one can make out the light metallic gold and also turmeric fragrance, which is an excellent anti-bacterial. A small quantity in the size of a coin is enough to get a good scrub for your face. Unlike other fruit or plant based scrubs, this is not very abrasive, yet effective in remove the dead skin, white heads and dirt. The only little thing with this is that it tends to make your skin dry after use, so those with already dry flaky skin should avoid this.

VLCC cacti and litchi Gentle Hydrating face wash: I never knew that litchi and cacti are actually good cleansers for your skin, up and until now. Though it claims to work best for normal to dry skin, I even used it on my oily skin and after a few uses, my skin did not react adversely or break out. It is definitely mild even in terms of its fragrance. So, definitely worth using on a daily basis and quite worth the price.

I am quite impressed with the range of products that VLCC currently has and I am sure there is more to come. It is definitely a blessing for those who are conscious about their skin and yet want to avoid burning holes in their pockets. These products are mostly skin friendly and do what they claim. So, do not hesitate to try them and be consistent with using them.

When it comes to the best in beauty and healthcare products, Superdrug is a name to reckon with. It has retail stores across the UK to cater to clientage all over the country. Recently, Superdrug opened their new store in Rugby. I was there to have a look and picked some amazing products.

I’ll talk about Superdrug range first.

Maybelline Eye Concealer is a product that does a great job at concealing dark circles and flaws around the eye area.

Maybelline Illuminating Stick works well to add dimension as well as enhance features for perfect highlights. It is easy to apply and boosts the skin glow.

Flawless Finish Brush Set is a great makeup brush set which can fit any budget, with a comparable quality from other bigger brands.

There was an offer on Maybelline products and I got a cute bag with them.
There was some more stuff I couldn’t resist.

Makeup Revolution Highlighting and Contour Palette is a complete contouring and highlighting solution. It offers a wonderful range of colour powders for sculpting and contouring, along with highlighters for illumination.

I completed my collection with Studio Eye Shadow Crayons . And I finished up the goodie-bag with my favorite hand cream from Flatter and a hair brush.
