Delicious Diet Foods – So Shape Making Dreams Come True!

I like to believe that I am maintaining a healthy lifestyle, but then fall off the fitness bandwagon sometimes. In fact, I often get queries from friends, family, and followers regarding the secret to my fitness. The answer is simple – I try to eat the right kind of food and add enough physical activity to my daily routine.

The next question I’m then asked is what it is that I’m eating. Well, let me introduce you to a healthy-eating option I recently discovered. A French Smart Meal brand called So Shape provides a range of easy-to-prep food options that are perfect for people like me who are always on-the-go.

So Shape has a simple food philosophy. Their meals are carefully created to optimize nutrient value and minimize calorie intake. The proposed method for getting the best out of So Shape is replacing your regular diet with 2 So Shape Smart Meals and one open, healthy lunch.

What I like about the So Shape way of eating is that it is sustainable. The main reason for this is that their meals are as delicious as they are healthy. Most attempts at dieting typically fail because you begin craving other tasty foods, all too soon. With So Shape Smart Meals, your cravings are taken care of because their preparations themselves are so tasty. Also, since they are nutrient-rich, you feel healthy, energetic, and satiated for longer.

I have tried their pancake mix and flavoured shakes so far. They were filling, delicious, and super-easy to make. The best part is, you have a whopping 22 options of Smart Meals to choose from. These include a wide variety of shakes, frappes, soups, and pasta, which allows you much flexibility regarding planning your meals. With So Shape Smart Meals, the likelihood of getting bored with eating the same bland food is very low.

Another thing to note about So Shape Smart Meals is that they have vegan and some gluten-free options as well. This feature gets them an extra thumbs-up from me because it can get very difficult to find vegan/gluten-free meals that do not require too much prepping.

If you’re wondering about the price-point, all meals are priced between £2.5-£3, which makes them affordable meal-replacement options. Apart from the Smart Meals, So Shape also has Smart Foods which are inherently healthy snacks you can have in-between meals. I think these Smart Foods are also a brilliant idea because unhealthy snacking is a habit that many people are guilty of.

So, if you are looking to transform your diet into nutrient-rich, low-calorie intake, and that too, in the least time/effort consuming way, So Shape Smart Meals can be your food angel. Have a go at it, and let me know if you enjoyed them as much as I did!

Mykonos Food Scene – Restaurant Recommendations

If you are planning to travel to Mykonos then look no further as this post will help you with some of the best and unique restaurants in Mykonos on your travels.

Food has and would always be a major deciding factor while zeroing down on a travel destination. For many of us, there is no better way to experience a place than exploring various places to eat. While I cannot stop gushing about the quirky places to eat, there were a couple of them that stood out and are must try:

Kuzina: The beach facing restaurant in the Mykonos Ammos hotel is not only known for the beautiful Aegean Sea views but lip smacking food, especially the sushi (the sushi chef is a master at making yummy sushi). The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner date complete with Greek soft music, drinks, and friendly staff. If you are staying at the Ammos hotel, you can even go ahead and try their big breakfast spreads and lunch menus.

Sic, coffee bar: This brand-new coffee shop is located at the heart of the island called the town square. The café located amidst the white washed architecture is perfect to stop for a caffeine shot and small nibbles. The café, being newly constructed is a refreshing welcome for all of us wanting to take a break from walking around the town.

Sunset Bar: Always dreamt of sitting back with a glass of a cool cocktail and watching the sun go down in the horizon? Well, it need not be a dream anymore, because the Sunset bar, located in little Venice is perfect to sit back, relax with a refreshing drink and watch the sunset. You can also get a great view of the town itself, so all in all a great place to chill and unwind after a hard day. Just make sure, you get there in time to watch the sun set.

Veranda Bar: Again, a lovely bar in Little Venice, perfectly situated to watch the sunset and windmills. It is best to take the water edge seats to have good views of the windmill and sunset. Not to mention, their refreshing range of cocktails especially ‘the third windmill’ is a must try. If in doubt about the choice of cocktails, simply ask one of their friendly staff members to help you out.

Vinos: A cozy little place located in the heart of the Mykonos town is a great outdoor place to unwind for a drink and yummy food. They have an extensive selection of Greek wines that pair up wonderfully well with the freshly prepared foods like salads, cheese, and curated meats. If you are too confused about the wines, simply ask one of the ever so friendly staff members for a recommendation. So, sit back and have a guaranteed lovely evening.

D’Angelo Mykonos: There is always an Italian restaurant gem in every city and Mykonos is not an exception. The Italian style bistro is situated en route to the Windmills and is a pleasant outdoor restaurant. They have a wide range of authentic pizzas and pasta, with a wide array of options to satisfy even a vegetarian like me. The wine and food are clear winners here. This is one place we would not mind returning to.

While the list of places to eat are never ending and we need multiple trips to Mykonos to cover them all, but overall the island has surprised us with multiple options to choose from, thereby satisfying every mood and palate. But most importantly the ambience, pretty views, and friendliness of the staff added a cherry to the cake.

Summer Coolers that are both Delicious and Healthy!

Summer Coolers

The heat outside can have you craving for a delicious, cool drink but perhaps the thought of calories involved stops you. Or maybe you are not counting calories but simply prefer to consume more healthy treats.

Either way, the typical store bought iced teas, coffee mixes and juice powders are not the best option – go in for summers coolers that are healthy and delicious, so you can enjoy them absolutely guilt-free.

Here are some recipes you could try:

  1. Strawberry Lemonade – Take 3-4 strawberries and chop off their leaf-bearing end. Squeeze the juice of one whole lemon and put in the blender with the chopped strawberries. Add a couple of mint leaves (or more if you like the flavour), a cup of water and 3-4 ice cubes. Blend till a beverage of even consistency is produced. Pour into a glass and add a slice of lemon. Voila! You have a tangy, refreshing drink which only contains about 40 calories.
  2. Sweet Honey Tea – Boil a cup of water and add a tea bag of regular or green tea, but only once water is off the stove or the tea shall be bitter. Let the tea bag infuse for about 1-2 minutes, depending on how intense you want the tea flavour to be. Add a tablespoon of honey and some crushed mint leaves, and mix will. Pour the hot drink into a tall glass and top with chilled water and ice. A nutrient-rich cooler carrying only around 60 calories is not yours to enjoy!
  3. Watermelon-Basil Juice – This recipe serves 4, so adjust proportions according to your needs. Take about 4 cups of watermelon chunks (seeds included if you like the crunch) and place over a thin-mesh sieve, sitting in a large bowl. Add 10-16 basil leaves and use a metal ladle to press the watermelon so the juice collects in the bowl below. Extract as much juice as possible and add a pinch of black salt and ¼ teaspoon white vinegar to it. Now mix in 4 cups of chilled water, stir well and serve this lovely under-50-calories drink.
  4. Fruity Green Tea – Prepare some green tea and chill in the refrigerator. Combine ½ cup of orange and ½ cup of pomegranate juice with 1/3rd cup of this chilled green tea. Freshly squeezed juices are preferred though packaged ones will do as well (go for the ones with low sugar and no added preservatives in the latter case). Add one teaspoon of lemon juice to the above and mix well. Your approximately 110-calorie summer cooler is ready!
  5. Homemade Ginger Ale – Add a cup of water, 1 tablespoon sugar and two small pieces (1.5 cm diameter, 0.5 cm thickness each, roughly) of ginger to a sauce pan. Bring water to a boil over medium heat and then let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes. Strain the water and let it cool; there would be only about ½ a cup or lesser amount left. Pour chilled water into a class and top with soda. Add a slice of lime and sip on this yummy home-brew which has less than 80 calories!

These summer coolers are absolutely yummy. You can adjust the proportion of ingredients to suit your palette wherever necessary. Beat the heat with these and it’ll be a summer you’ll remember fondly!
