#VacationShoppingGoals – My Holiday Wishlist

The holiday season is upon us and that calls for some shopping! I’m the kind of person who hunts for excuses to go out and explore the world of buyable things. And vacations are a pretty solid reason, so I’m quite excited around this time every year.

Mostly, I already have a wishlist prepared before the shopping spree begins. It helps me keep track of exactly what I want/need so I don’t get too carried away. It’s actually a great way to prevent too many impulse purchases and exceed my budget. So here’s what I want to treat myself to these vacations. Have a look for inspiration for your own Holiday Wishlists.

Blue Reflectors – Everywhere I look these days, I spot someone wearing a pair of reflectors. And since it’s sunny enough for one’s sunglasses to be put to good use, I think I need to buy a new pair asap. I have a feeling it’s going to be blue reflectors! They’ll look great with casual outfits.
POM POM Sandals – The boho-diva in me is quite active these days and I need to get my hands on some pom pom sandals. You know, the kind that have little fur/wool/rubber pom poms on them? They come in both ethnic and western styles and I need to decide which I’d prefer. Some help, please?
Printed Shoes – I was going through my shoe-closet when I realized that it is full of mostly classic styles and colours. I want to stock up on more striking, bold footwear as well, especially for semi-formal wear. So I might pick up something from Jones Shoe Collection – they have a good collection of floral pumps!
Wheeled Carry On Case – If one is travelling, there’s nothing more convenient than a wheeled carry on case. I have a few of course, but now I want something new. Perhaps in some pretty colour like pink or red. Don’t you just love it when people have interesting, colourful luggage?
A Floppy Hat – Beach bags and hats are a match made in heaven. And I just realized that my mind is obsessed with the idea of a beach vacation! Whether I go on one or not is another thing, but a floppy hat will surely wind its way into my closet. Maybe I’ll get a lacy vintage hat – oh, that sounds so good!

These are the things I really want to buy for the holidays and not on the holidays.

The Fashion Weeks of the world have wrapped up, and left us with many trends to be excited about. Some trends are never-before-seen, brand-spanking new, and others are old trends that have been reinterpreted in a fresh way. Without further ado, here are the five fashion trends to watch out for in twenty-sixteen!

Stripes

You might be thinking, “But stripes have been around forever!” and you certainly aren’t wrong, but 2016 will see the resurgence of this classic geometric print in a completely new avatar. This year, stripes are going to be larger than ever before – I’m talking super-sized stripes in bright, bold colours like sunset orange, fire-engine red and parrot green. Whether you rock these stripes vertically, horizontally or somewhere in between, remember that simple is always stylish.

Floral Prints

Again, this trend has been around for a few years, but has undergone many facelifts along the way. Previously restricted to feminine items like skirts,dresses and ruffle tops, floral trends will make their foray onto more gender-neutral silhouettes like trousers, structured blazers et al. Unlike the delicate floral motifs of the past, floral prints in 2016 will be brighter, bolder and bigger than ever before. Make a statement; make it loud!

Culottes

When culottes first showed up on the stage of fashion, they were met with mixed reactions from most people. I also appreciate the fact that I can break out my favourite leather jacket without burning up inside and that the cool weather suits my skin really well. Mix In Some Quirky Print

Most people tend to reach for dark colours like navy, grey, black and maroon in the winter. This season, vow to try something different! Eclectic prints are one of the easiest ways to make a dreary winter day more fun and spice up your ensemble. You can still retain the sombre colour palette for the rest of your outfit, but incorporating a unique abstract print into your look will break the monotony and elevate your outfit.

Jump On The Cape Bandwagon

It goes without saying that a cosy winter coat is an essential for the season, but this year, switch things up by opting for a classy cape instead. Lust List – Valentines Shopping Inspiration

Here is a Lust List for all of you to feast your eyes on. I made this yesterday when I was planning my next stopping trip. Yes, I do that. You see, I love shopping and I love lists, so sometime I do a little bit of research and form a list of the things that I am seeking and why. It’s quite a nice way to shop I guess, keeps me organized at least.

So here’s what’s on my current Lust List for Valentine’s Day.

Peep Toe Grey Boots – Love the grey and the styling of these boots. Let’s see if I finally go in for the same style or something slightly different. But I am sure I am getting a pair of such grey beauties. They work really well for the Spring Weather. The heel might be a tad bit too high for me though.

Too Faced Melted Lip Colours – I last tried one of the Too Faced Melted Lip Colours almost 2 years ago but never ended up buying it. Maybe because I haven’t been able to find a counter where I can swatch the colours and see. The one I did try was a great colour and despite being in liquid form, gave a lovely matte finish.

Knuckle Finger Rings – One of the latest fashion trends I am getting hooked to! You can choose from chunky ones to tiny ones depending on what suits your outfit or personality. It’s hard to go wrong with these.

Radley Handbag – We all love handbags. I am actually yet to come across a fashion savvy person who doesn’t love them. After all, this one accessory plays a key role in how the whole outfit comes together. And since I am a big fan of the Radley pale pink handbag range that came out this season, this just had to feature on my Lust List!

Floral Headband – Well, it’s going to be Valentine’s season very soon and I am quite the romantic soul. Dying to try one of these headbands soon, maybe at a summer wedding! *wink* *wink*

5 Tips for Applying False Eyelashes like a Pro

If there has been one major change to my makeup and beauty routine this year, it has been the addition of false lashes to my must-have items. Once I had tried them and experienced the magic first-hand, I was sold for life. Having said that, false lashes can be really tricky to apply, especially if you are a newbie or if you have an unsteady hand. Over the course of the year, I have experimented with many hacks and tricks to find the perfect way to apply falsies. Ladies, I present to you: 5 tips for applying false eyelashes like a pro!

1. There are so many different styles of false eyelashes available in the market that choosing the right pair can be really difficult! As a rule of thumb, if you want a cute, baby doll look, opt for eyelashes that are longer in the middle. If you want a sultry and sexy look, choose falsies that are longer towards the outer end of your eye.

2. Cut the eyelash strips into halves or thirds for easier and effective application. Before you apply them to your lids, wrap the lash around a thin makeup brush for some extra curl. When you are applying the individual pieces of the eyelash strip, make sure that the glue is very sticky before you pop them on. Waiting for the glue to get the right amount of sticky is absolutely critical!

3. For a more natural look, try individual lashes instead of strips. While they might take a tiny bit longer to apply, they are actually easier to apply than the strips and you can customize your look to suit the occasion. You can use a few individual lashes for a subtle look or build up the drama on the outer edge of your lid by using more. I would recommend using tweezers to apply these babies.

4. An oily base makes it really hard for the eyelash glue to work, so blot off any extra oil on your lids before you start to apply your lashes. If you plan on reusing your lashes, the last thing you want to do is remove your eye makeup with an oil-based remover – no, no, no!

5. Find the right position to apply your falsies. Like most ladies, I started by trying to apply eyelashes in front of my bathroom mirror, which was just a no-go. Through much practice, I realise that the best way to get the perfect application is lay a mirror on a flat surface (like a table) and plant your elbows on either side of it. Then, you can look down into the mirror and you will see exactly where you need to apply your falsies. Trust me!

Above all, have fun with false lashes and play around with different styles until you find what works for you. If you find them too bothersome to where everyday, you could even consider getting eyelash extensions. I just got mine and I am absolutely in love with them!
