Summer Trends to Try this Season

Summers are here and they are all about colours, prints, light and breathable fabrics. Here are summer trends to try this season.

Summers are here and I can feel the warmth in the air. I am so excited to finally be able to enjoy warm days, bask in the sunshine, and wear cute summer clothes. Summers are all about colours, prints, light and breathable fabrics. We get very limited nice summer days in the UK, so I am always looking forward to summer fashion trends that I can rock for those days. I like my clothes evergreen, trendy and versatile. No matter what the weather is, I am inclined towards pieces and styles that can be used in various ways. So, here are summer trends to try this season. Find more fashion blogs here.

  1. Crop tops

No summer wardrobe is complete without crop tops. They are chic, stylish and are perfect for chill summer days. No matter if they are paired with jeans or skirts, they look good and there are many fun styles to choose from. I like wearing my crop tops with high waisted jeans or shorts. For someone who wants to wear a crop top but is not comfortable with showing too much skin, layering it with a thin overshirt is a good styling option.

  1. Wide leg trousers

The 80s wide leg trousers made a comeback sometime back and they are here to stay. I love their silhouette & how structured they are. Their retro and vintage vibes takes things to another level. They are comfy and are ideal for both casual outings and formal affairs. One can style them with a solid or graphic t-shirt for a relaxed, laid back look and with a nice feminine blouse/shirt for a more elegant & fancy look.

  1. Puff Sleeves

I am a big fan of puff sleeves, as they are enough to add a style statement to a boring outfit. They are dramatic, romantic and scream feminine. Whether it’s a puff sleeves dress or a top, it can be styled effortlessly as the sleeves are the star of the show. They instantly grab attention and make heads turn. When it comes to puff sleeves, structure and shape is everything so go for fabric that does justice to the trend.

  1. Pastel Colours

Summers are a time to flaunt colourful outfits and pretty pastel hues are the trend of the season. Pastel colours are subtle but are bright enough to standout and catch the eye. Having pastel colours in the wardrobe is a must as they add a pop of colour without being too much in the face and look classy. Pastel colours can be easily styled with neutral colours, prints, denim, deeper colours and even other pastel tones.

  1. Oversized Overshirts

Oversized overshirts have been around for quite some time now and I find them so practical and easy to carry. On the lazy days when picking an outfit is a struggle, they come in handy. I personally love checkered overshirts, as they are a good addition to a basic look. They can be worn over basic leggings, shorts, dresses or over swimsuits. One can also steal a shirt from their partner’s wardrobe and turn it into an oversized overshirt.

  1. Tiered Dresses

Tiered, flowy dresses are a staple for summers and I think every woman in the world embraces them. They are romantic, flirty and incredibly versatile. I like mini tiered dresses as they look super cute & casual, but one can go for midi or maxi depending on what length they prefer. They can be paired with sneakers or strappy sandals and can be easily dressed up or down just by playing around with the accessories.

  1. Square-Toe sandals

The 90s Square-Toe sandals have been ruling the fashion world since their comeback and can be seen almost everywhere. These geometric shaped sandals come in many different styles and look high-fashion & effortlessly chic. They are comfortable to wear and go perfectly with everything, be it dresses, trousers, or jeans. For a casual look choose flat slide ons and for a fancy look go for block or pencil heels.

So, these are some summer trends that I am looking forward to try. Hope you liked the blog. Let me know your favourite trend out of these. Stay tuned for more such blogs.

How to Create Your Own Stunning Summer Look

Summertime and vacationing are a match made in heaven. This divine combination is may be responsible for our overstuffed wardrobes. Let’s be honest – how many times do we buy clothes, shoes, or accessories thinking, “this will look so good on a beach vacation” or “hey, this outfit will really help beat the heat”? Countless, I’m sure.

But the art to smart shopping and intelligent fashion is having a ready-to-go capsule wardrobe which comprises of essentials that can create multiple looks. You basically curate a set of clothes and accessories that are versatile, stylish, and oh-so-comfy. I have a holiday capsule wardrobe for summer vacationing, most of it comprising clothes and accessories by Hush, which is a lovely brand for summer-wear. Here’s what you’ll find in my capsule wardrobe:

An Embroidered Relax-Fit Top

Loosely-fitted frilly tops are quite in vogue these days. They are particularly suited for summertime vacationing since they do not stick to the body. Also, the long sleeves prevent tanning. You can team such tops with jeans, shorts, and even skirts, which make them a wonderful addition to your holiday capsule wardrobe.

 A Floral Midi

Florals are a spring-summer staple and combined with the flowy goodness of well-fitting midis, they make for the perfect holiday outfit. Casual yet distinctive, floral midis are a comfy outfit when traveling. You can accessorize such an outfit with a large straw hat and big boho hat. I often wear midis to the beach since I can easily wear a swimsuit beneath them.

A Shirt Dress

Shirt dresses are effortlessly chic. I typically pair a shirt dress with sneakers and a belt which add a youthful dimension to the outfit. If you are wary to go down the androgynous path, you can accessorize with long earrings, bracelets and neckpieces. Additionally, go in for dresses in bright colours, to ensure the final effect is cool and summery.

A Pair of Funky Trainers

I simply love funky footwear and nothing looks better than a pair of sneakers with interesting detailing. They are a great choice for summer vacations since you can walk in them all day long, without getting tired. I would recommend getting a pair in a neutral shade that is sure to complement multiple outfits, including evening-wear.

Printed Culottes

Culottes have become oft-worn office attire but in my opinion, they are equally well-suited for casual wear. In fact, I would probably carry a pair of culottes on vacations over jeans since they are more comfortable, and also quite edgy. Printed culottes look even better in matching sets, and a great option for lounging in the hotel or a coffee-shop when vacationing.

A Basket-Style Bag

Hobo bags have been a popular choice for summertime vacationing. But if you want something edgier, more distinctive, a basket-style bag would be an ideal choice. They are roomy, sturdy, and easy to clean. Be it on the beach, the hills, a cab, or a bus, a basket-style bag would be both an asset as a carry-all, and fashion statement as an accessory.

Holiday Lookbook – Your Holiday Outfit Guide

If you have been following my blog then you must have noticed this summer has been all about beaches for me. I love a beach destination for the summers. It’s a great way to relax, rejuvenate and get some tan during your summer break. From all my travels this summer I have come up with a list of outfits which are perfect for a beach vacation. So read on and slay the beach look with these must-have outfits:

Tunic: Summer wear is what comes to mind when I think of tunics. They are one of the most comfortable outfits for summer. What makes tunics a go-to outfit for me is that it is so versatile and flatters every body type. You can style it as a dress, as a short kurti over palazzo pants or shorts and even with trousers for work wear. You can even wear it as a beach cover up and get some tan while reading a romantic novel by the ocean.

Off-Shoulder Outfit: Off-shoulder tops are popular on the runway as well as on the streets. Off-shoulder tops are flirty, feminine and look great with shorts as well as a midi skirt. You can pair it with statement accessories to jazz it up for a dinner date or wear it with ripped shorts for a day on the beach. Go for a lacy top with intricate designs to keep it feminine and fun. For a chic look team a flowy top with high-waist shorts, slip on shoes and fun accessories.

Staple White Top: White is a great color for summer. I like carrying a few short tops or kurtas with me on a beach vacation. You can go for a contemporary look by pairing a white chikan work top with a pair of denim or cotton pants when sight-seeing.

Cold Shoulder Top: Another popular trend this spring summer is the cold shoulder trend. If you aren’t comfortable baring your shoulders in an off-shoulder top then this is the trend for you. It’s quirky, fun and very chic. You can opt for a cold shoulder top with bell sleeves or ruffled sleeves to add more drama to your outfit. Don’t just restrict this trend to a top you can also wear a dress with cold shoulder sleeves for a beachy look.

Maxi Dress: I love wearing maxi dresses. This breezy style is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. I can wear it as a cover-up over a bikini or team it with an embellished belt for a night out. I prefer going for printed maxi dresses in vibrant shades.

Long Shirt or Shirt Dress: Is a fuss free outfit in your beach vacation wardrobe. You can wear a long shirt or a shirt dress for a day at the beach, a casual affair or even date. I prefer shirts in linen material as it helps the skin breathe and keeps me cool in the rising temperatures. You can pair a long shirt with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts and slip on sandals or wear it as it is with a belt for a fitted look.

Sleeveless Jackets: Cover ups are essential for a beach holiday. Since it would be too hot for jackets I suggest a sleeveless jacket in net or crochet material to slip on over your crop top or bikini top and shorts. You can also opt for long sleeveless jackets in chiffon in colorful floral prints as a beach cover up.

Apart from these outfits don’t forget to pack a few swimsuits, sunscreen, shades and a hat on your beach vacay. What are your beach holiday outfits? Let me know in the comments below.

Your Must Have Holiday Outfit

Shorts are a staple when it comes to summer. Whether your style is casual or glamorous shorts are meant for everyone. When it comes to pairing shorts with other pieces in your wardrobe, you can go for a basic tee, crop top, silk blouse, a spaghetti top with sequins, short blouse and the list goes on.

But there are some classic combinations that you can never go wrong with. I am talking about one of my all time favourite combos, the denim shorts and a white shirt. It’s a cool, casual and classy outfit. A must have in your wardrobe. It’s a versatile combination which you can sport any time of the year, any season.

There are so many ways you can team up this outfit. For a laidback look pair distressed short and a baggy shirt with rolled up sleeves, bunched up bracelets and a tote bag with flip flops or slip on shoes. For a chic look, pair a crew neck blouse with acid washed shorts and designer sneakers. You can even play around with your accessories to create different looks. Pair a sleeveless shirt and denim shorts with your sarong or a lightweight printed long jacket for a bohemian beach look. There are millions of ways to style this classic combo.

What’s more, it helps you pack light and keep your travel luggage weight in check, when you are just dashing away for a quick getaway.

Since this is a holiday essential, I packed a pair of my favourite shorts and a white blouse for my trip this summer. A white blouse is less formal than a shirt. It’s breezier and lightweight which makes it a comfortable option for the summers. I love the thread work on this white shirt and pairing it with my dark blue washed denim shorts made it look so cool and yet casual at the same time.

I have paired the combo with grey sneakers. When travelling, I prefer wearing shoes and flats as I enjoy walking and exploring a new city. I kept my look very basic and casual and went for minimal accessories, backpack and low bun to style my outfit. This is more of comfortable clothing or look I prefer when travelling. If I want to dress up, I can always add a boho necklace to this outfit and style my hair in beachy waves with some hair accessories and a statement bag.

Off Shoulder Trend and Tassel Love – Outfit Look

From tops to jumpsuits the off-shoulder trend is everywhere and clearly here to stay. So if you haven’t already invested in a few off-shoulder pieces then catch on because this style doesn’t seem to going out of fashion anytime soon. Since the time we first saw it on the runway, the basic off-shoulder top has gone from the regular solid to stripes, cold shoulder to cut out, and asymmetrical to embellish. It’s not stopping there because the off-shoulder trend seems to be getting more stylish by the day.

Off-shoulder tops are perfect for summer and look good on everyone. They are preppy, boho and fun. You can wear a striped off-shoulder coordinated set on a holiday or a warm summer day or pair an embroidered off-shoulder blouse with striped pants for work. For a casual Sunday or a day on the

For a casual Sunday or a day on the beach, you can sport a printed off-shoulder dress with a hat and flip flops or a lacy off-shoulder blouse and ripped short. The choices are endless with this versatile trend. It’s so easy and effortless to pair trend with different outfits in your wardrobe. No wonder this bohemian style is one of the hottest this season. You can even play with accessories when sporting the off-shoulder trend. You can keep it simple and elegant with a statement necklace or edgy with a lacy choker.

I recently got an Off-shoulder top with colourful tassel detailing. The colourful tassels add a bit of flirty and fun flare to the entire outfit and paired the top with a pair of ripped cropped denim. The best part of the off-shoulder trend is the unique neckline. You can keep the outfit simple by just baring your neck and shoulder as is for a sleek and elegant look or add a necklace for a stylish look. But remember one thing, when wearing an off-shoulder top, Keep the neckline of the top or dress clean and don’t go for accessories which go beyond the neckline.

You can also pair the outfit with bold statement earrings if you aren’t a fan of neck pieces. Trendy sunglasses and a hat are also a good addition to the outfit if you are wearing it on a sunny day. I paired my off-shoulder top with a short but chunky silver necklace, bracelets and a colorful bag which matches the tassel detailing. I love to flaunt my neckline when sporting this top because the detailing is so lovely, so I went for a side swept braid. Also when stepping out in the sun I make sure I always have my shades on. I believe shades are essential to a summer wardrobe. So there you go; my stylish yet casual off-shoulder trend. You can also style this top with shorts, culottes or a trouser based on the occasion.

Outfit Post: Holiday Wardrobe

It’s the season to travel. But before you leave for your perfect holiday you need to pack. Packing for a holiday is tiresome. You never know what kind of clothes you would need. So you end up packing those backup outfits which you know you would never wear…because just in case. Then you end up paying extra for baggage or groan about how don’t have enough space for all the cool things you shopped on your holiday because of the excess outfits.
To save you all from this misery, I’ve decoded the holiday wardrobe for you, in case you are clueless about what to pack.

1. Off-Shoulder Ruffled Top: From sunbathing to sightseeing an off shoulder top is one of my favourite picks this season. Tuck it in with your pleated maxi skirt or let it out with your ripped denim shorts. Off-shoulder tops are extremely versatile. I like the ruffled off-shoulder tops as they are flattering for my body shape and look ultra cute.

2. Flattering Bikini: A bikini is the one thing you can’t afford to forget. Whether you are going to a beach or a country side, you are going to need this one. Most places have a pool and after a chilly winter where you can’t dream of diving into a pool, that’s all you feel like doing once its spring. Go for a bikini which flatters your body type. I really like a ruffled and high-waisted bikini. You can go for a coordinated set or mix and match based on what you’re comfortable with.

3. The long Jacket: A sarong or a beach wrap is a must if you are going to the beach. But this year leave the basics and go for a long jacket or a kimono style jacket. They are extremely versatile. You can wear them to the beach with your bikini or even on a day out in town with a pair of shorts and a crop top or a maxi skirt. Jackets with tassels are in this season. Go for a jacket which is lightweight and has fun prints.

4. Crop Top: Crop tops have been in trend for some time now and don’t seem to be going out of style for anytime soon. Ditch the usual crop top for something more elegant this season. Go for a lacy crop top with intricate designs. They are feminine, flirty and fun. They make you look chic when teamed with high-waist shorts, slip on shoes and fun accessories.

5. Two piece outfit: I love two piece outfits. They look cute plus can be paired with other items in your closet if you don’t want to wear coordinated sets. Two piece sets are great as you can mix and match them with the other pieces in your wardrobe and don’t have to carry different outfits. They are perfect when you want to travel light. You can go for a skirt and off shoulder set if your style is more feminine or shorts and crop top set if you like to keep it more casual. Plus you can also team the shorts or skirt with other basic pieces in your wardrobe.

6. Pleated Maxi Skirt: A pleated maxi skirt is another key piece in your wardrobe. Team it with a dressed up crop top for a dinner date or a boho blouse for a day at the beach. There are so many ways you can wear a pleated maxi skirt. Plus it’s extremely versatile as you can easily transform your outfit from beach to date night with the right accessories.

7. Evening Dress: This is a must have in your holiday wardrobe. An evening dress is for those romantic dinner dates you plan to go for with your partner or the cute stranger you met at the beach. Pack that classic outfit in your wardrobe that you can trust will look great for any occasion. A classic LBD or a high-low dress which can be dressed up or down based on the occasion is something you need in your bag.

Apart from the outfits be sure to carry some basic accessories like a hat, sunglasses, 3-4 pairs of earrings in different colours, comfy sandals and shoes and lots of sunscreen.

Strawberry Picking – Summer Fun Activity for All

Pick Your Own Fruits – PYOF or PYOS – pick your own strawberry is a very popular British summer activity for families and kids. You go to farms who are open and welcome visitors for this activity and can pick your own fruit and vegetables fresh from the field. These usually include strawberries, raspberry, and so in summer that is in the mainly in the month of July and other fruits like blueberry towards the end of August or September.
Strawberry-picking-uk-1Generally the produce available and other details are listed on the website of various farms. Also, there are several farms in UK that one can visit.

Pick your own fruits holds nostalgic memories for many of us.  Earlier there were thousands of farms in the country but now only a few hundred remain. If you are someone who likes to know where their food comes from and look for seasonal and local produce then pick your own fruits is a perfect summer time activity for you. On a nice sunny day, you can enjoy the fresh crisp air and connect with the nature by picking seasonal delights like strawberries, raspberries, rhubarbs and blueberries in a wide, huge and open field.

It’s a great day out and one a fun and healthy activity for the entire family. We stay so cooped up in the city that a day out refreshes our senses and rejuvenates us all. It’s also a great activity for kids and a fun way to bring them close to the nature. The best part of the entire activity is that you get to take fresh fruits like strawberries back home and make yummy puddings, smoothies, jams and so on with it. Usually the farms provide baskets or containers to pick the produce. There are signposts to spot the crops. And you weigh the produce and are charged per kg for the fruit.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind if you going to a pick your own farm:

  1. When picking strawberries choose firm and fully red berries because strawberries don’t ripen after they have been picked.
  2. Make sure your feet or knees don’t damage the plants near the edge of the row.
  3. You can help the farmers by removing the defected or damaged berries by placing them in the mud. Because if they are rotten then the rot will spread to the other berries quickly as well.
  4. Try to consume berries immediately after they have been picked. If you plan to store them then try to pick them on a cloudy or cool day. Berries picked in the heat become bruised and soft easily.
  5. Place the picked berries in the shade of a tree or in your car to cool them after picking.
  6. You can store berries in the refrigerator for 2-3 days and maintain the freshness.

5 Essentials for your Summer Holiday

summer

My favourite season of the year, summer, is steadily approaching and I hope that all of you are as excited as I am! I would imagine that many of you are planning to get out of town and renergize yourself with a summertime vacation, if only for a few days. Have you ever reached the airport and realised that you forgot the most important thing at home? I have (several times). Ladies, in all your excitement about your big break, do not forget to pack these five essentials which will serve you right throughout your summer holiday.

Trendy Sunglasses
I can never leave the house without a reliable pair of stylish sunglasses and when you are on holiday, you will definitely need a pair to keep the sun out of your eyes. Right now, I absolutely love the “Lennon” style sunglasses and I have been leaning towards purchasing a pair in a glamourous shade of gold. There’s just something about summer and gold that matches perfectly, right?

Comfortable Sandals
Girls, I cannot say this enough: a pair of ultra comfy sandals is one of the most important things that you should travel with. To my mind, flip-flops should only be worn at the beach and stilettos are simply too impractical to wear every day. I suggest that you have a glance at my take on the top five sandal trends for summer and snap up a versatile pair for your upcoming fiesta.

Maxi Dresses
Put simply, I adore maxi dresses and even more so when packing for my summer break. My love for this garment stems from the fact that it is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe; I can throw it over a bikini as a coverup, belt it at the waist for a casual daytime look and even pair it with a statement necklace for a night out. Vibrant shades are the perfect palette for summer; think maxi dresses in sunset orange, parrot green, sunflower yellow and more!

Chic Bag
As you live up summer twenty-fifteen, you will definitely need a cute bag to store all of your belongings and carry on a daily basis. The bucket bag has been the talk of the town for a while now, and I reckon that its shape makes it perfect for holidays. Plus, these bags usually come with long straps that keep the bag out of your way as you are out and about. What more does a girl want? Opt for a bag in a neutral colour so that you do not have to carry more than one.

White Shorts
Summer is for wearing white – ‘nuff said. When it comes to packing for vacations, I have learned that as far as possible, you should stick to pieces that can be worn with everything and on multiple occassions. Like maxi dresses, white shorts are another garment that I never travel without. They can be dressed up or down, styled for the beach or the city and will always look très chic. So, throw in a pair of white shorts – my current favourites are a lovely lace pair – and you are good to go!
