Beach Beauty Essentials

Summer breeze, the sun, sand and the sea all call for a beach day.

With the weather getting better, you can’t stay indoors and the beach is a perfect getaway. But packing for the beach can be tricky. Also, the sun and sea don’t get along with skin and hair very well. Sun burns, tans, frizzy unruly hair and many other issues can ruin your vacation and that’s the last thing you want. Be a beach beauty with these must have beauty products in your beach bag.

Here is a snap of the products I packed into my bag for my last beach holiday.
Take a leaf from my book of advice and don’t forget to take these must have products with you.

Be a beach beauty with these must have beauty products in your beach bag:

  1. Sunscreen: Wearing sunscreen every day is an unwritten rule in the book of skin care so the beach is no exception. You may use SPF 20 – 30 for regular use but for beach holiday go for a sunscreen with UV A/B protection with SPF 50 or more which is water resistant.
  1. Tinted moisturizer with SPF: If you are not in the mood for applying a foundation and want to go for a minimalistic makeup routine then go for a light non-greasy formula when picking a tinted moisturizer. It helps even out the skin tone and keeps your face hydrated and also protects you when stepping out.
  1. Primer with SPF: For a long lasting picture perfect make up invest in a light weight primer with SPF for skin protection. The primer will give you an even base for your makeup and also help cover any redness because of sun exposure easily.
  1. Powder based foundation: Cream based or liquid foundation can give you an oily finish or a melted look. Powder based foundations are great during the summer to achieve a sweat proof makeup look.
  1. Lip balm: The last thing you want is dry and chapped lips. It’s important to moisturize your lips even during the summer. I prefer using a lip balm with SPF, especially if I’m stepping out in the sun. Also, your lipstick or gloss looks way better on hydrated lips.
  1. Blue eyeliner: Ditch the black eyeliner on your beach holiday. Summers are all about vibrant colors. Let your makeup reflect that summer vibe with colored eyeliners.
  1. Sea salt hairspray: The sun exposure, dips in the salty ocean and chlorine filled pools can take a toll on your hair. To add to that you often end up using styling tools to avoid frizzy hair because of the humidity. Switch your styling tools and products for a sea salt spray and flaunt those beachy waves effortlessly.
  1. Body Mist: A body mist is light and perfect for the beach. You can carry a small bottle in your beach bag for a refreshing spray whenever you are feeling sticky or sweaty. Get a floral or zesty fragrance for the summer.
  2. Conditioner: With all the sea salt and humidity in the air, a good conditioner is a must to make sure your locks well cared for no matter what and I have chosen the Redken Volumising conditioner to make sure my hairs are not flat.
  3. Hat, Sunglasses & Book & Magazines – These are some of the accessories that are a must in your beach bag to give you right protection from the sun and also some entertainment when you are sun bathing on the beach.

Summer Skincare Tips

Warm weather is upon us  and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m dreaming about beaches, mojitos, summertime sunsets and stylish swimwear…but I’m also thinking about skincare and hydration, and you should be too! The strong rays of the sun can really suck the life out of your skin, and I believe that it’s always best to prevent the damage rather than fix it afterwards. Ladies, here are my top ten skincare and haircare tips for the summertime:

Summer-Skincare

  1. You have heard it before and I will say it again: there is no replacement for drinking water. Yes, it is absolutely essential all year round, but it is especially important in the summer, when the heat sucks the hydration out of your skin. Remember, eight glasses a day keeps the skin doctor away.
  2. Like water, sunscreen should be part of your skincare routine throughout the year, but when the sun is out, sunscreen is non-negotiable. Wear it before you apply the rest of your makeup and save yourself some nasty burn (or worse!)
  3. For extra skin protection, switch to makeup that contains SPF. Most products will mention their SPF content, if any, on the label, but ask your sales representative for help if you’re not sure!
  4. Treat your skin to some cooling facemasks. Ingredients like cucumber and yogurt are very soothing on heated skin, while lemon and lime are great de-tanning agents.
  5. Never leave your home without moisturising your face and body, to replenish the hydration that they’ve lost to the warm air. If you are prone to oily skin, use a light, oil-free moisturiser to prevent unwanted shininess.
  6. As far as possible, use oil-free formulations when it comes to makeup. These products are less likely to clog your pores when you sweat.
  7. When it comes to your lips, use a lip balm that contains SPF. You can wear it on its own or apply it below lipstick or lip gloss for protection.
  8. Invest in a hydrating mist for your skin, or make your own by simply putting some water and a drop of essential oil into a spray bottle. Spritz this onto your face every few hours to revitalize your skin and prevent it from drying out.
  9. We’ve spoken about your skin, but what about your tresses? Again, use products that have SPF wherever possible, and never step outside without applying a protective leave-in conditioner to guard your hair.
  10. Always carry a hat to cover your hair from the harmful rays of the sun. If they’re not your cup of tea, use a cute headscarf instead!

Summer Beauty & Makeup Tips

Summer beauty

Hello, summer! By now, most of you are well aware of the fact that I am a complete summer baby. Nothing makes me happier than dipping my toes into warm white sands and taking in the glorious sunrays (after applying sunscreen, of course!)

Unfortunately, summer isn’t always white bikinis and poolside cocktails – it can be panda eyes and runny makeup if you do not take care to alter your makeup routine in preparation for the heat. When it comes to summer beauty, remember that your mantra should always be “less is more.” With those three words in mind, read on to discover five summer beauty tips that will have you looking fabulous all season long.

Never Leave The House Without Sunscreen

So, this tip really is not restricted to the summertime because you should be doing it every single day. If you aren’t, it is a good time to start! Many women downplay the importance of sunscreen until their skin has already started aging and by then, it is too late. Always apply sunscreen before you begin applying the rest of your makeup and not only to your face but to every body part that is exposed. An SPF of 30 or more is essential!

Replace Foundation With Tinted Moisturizer

To be honest, I am not an avid user of foundation at all, but I stay especially far away from it during the summer. The combination of sweat with a heavy foundation will do nothing but clog your pores and make your skin feel icky. This summer, replace your foundation with tinted moisturizer, which will give you the ultimate sun-kissed glow sans the detrimental aftereffects.

Matte Lips Are The Only Lips For Summer

Ladies, do not get me wrong when I say that matte lipstick is the way to go this summer! I absolutely dig glossy lip products as much as the next girl, but I find that such formulations are more likely to smudge and/or fade away than their matte counterparts. The latter tend to have a really long staying power, which is exactly what I look for in a lip product. This summer, I am all about neutral hues like pale pink and beige.

Waterproof Eye Makeup Is Non-Negotiable

There are no two ways about it – if you are going to wear eye makeup during the summertime, every single product that you use must be waterproof. Even if you are not planning to take a dip in the ocean, it is important to note that waterproof makeup is also sweat proof. When I’m hitting the beach, I don’t take any chances – I skip the eyeliner and let my lashes do all the talking by applying a few coats of waterproof mascara.

Cream Blush Is Better Than Any Other

As a rule of thumb, try to keep your summer makeup look as sheer as possible so that it stays put on your face from morning till night. I love using a hint of blush on my cheeks for a lovely flushed look, but powdered formulas just don’t work when the temperature rises. Instead, I opt for a smooth creamy blush that blends into my skin naturally.
