If you are not sure in what type of outfits should you invest in, then here are 5 types of dresses for every wardrobe.

dresses for every wardrobe

If there is one piece of clothing that’s feminine and looks effortlessly chic & graceful, it’s a dress. Investing in some nice dresses is the best decision women can make for their wardrobe, because no matter where you have to be or what mood you are in, there is a perfect dress for every occasion. Find more fashion blogs here.

Dresses are my favourite, as they are so versatile & easy to carry and I can dress them up or down effortlessly. For someone like me who is always in a rush, dresses always come in handy. Whenever I am struggling to put together a last-minute look, my search somehow always ends on a dress. I also love my denim and skirts, but nothing beats the femininity of a dress.

There are a lot of women out there who want to wear dresses, but are not sure what type of dresses to invest in. Well, this blog is all about that. I’ll be telling you the 5 types of dresses that one must have in their wardrobe and how to style them. So, let’s get into it.

Types of dresses you need in your wardrobe

  1. Mini Dresses

Mini dresses have been ruling the fashion world for a long time. They are fun & flirty, and that’s what I like the most about them. They can be worn for a fancy brunch or a date night with bae, all one has to remember is picking the right dress. During day time, go for dresses that are flowy & playful and for the evenings turn up the sass in fancy, bodycon dresses.

For a casual look, wear a mini dress as is or layer it up with a shrug or cardigan and complete the look with nice wedge heels or boots. Style a mini dress with a pair of pumps or stilettos and a statement clutch for a more eye-catching look.

  1. Midi Dresses

Midi dresses have to be one of my favourite. They are classy, modest and perfect for someone who is not comfortable in showing too much skin. Midi dresses have the right amount of casual & formal appeal to them and they look good on any body type, which makes them a big hit in the fashion world.

One can pair a midi dress with classic, pointed toe pumps and a handbag for a formal & dressy look, whereas for a casual look, grab a comfortable pair of flats, a sling bag & a hat and make heads turn.

  1. Maxi Dresses

Whenever I hear the term maxi dress, I start thinking of a beach vacation and all I see is me running in the sand wearing a flowy maxi dress. They are super comfy, stylish and effortless, which makes them a number one choice for a day by the pool or a beach vacay, just be sure to pick a dress with breathable fabric.

Pair a maxi dress with strappy sandals, long-hanging light jewellery and a cute straw hat and nail that holiday look. One can also pair their maxi dress with tan boots and bohemian jewellery for that boho-goddess vibes.

  1. Shirt Dresses

Whenever I am feeling lazy and don’t want to put in a lot of efforts, a shirt dress always comes to my rescue. I love shirt dresses as they are so chic & easy-to-wear and can be styled in so many ways. They are playful & yet make you look put together and the best thing about shirt dresses is that no matter how I choose to style them, the final look is always stunning.

I usually like to style my shirt dresses with a denim jacket & sneakers for a casual look. It can be styled with a belt to accentuate the waist or with a solid blazer and pumps for a more polished & put together look.

  1. Occasion Dresses

I bet most of us have some high-end dresses in our closet that are reserved for extra special occasions, like weddings, parties, etc. These are those sequinned, embroidered, lace, & tulle dresses that we can’t wear on a daily basis, but whenever we do they look so elegant and give us all the princess feels we want. I believe investing in good occasion dresses is a decision a woman can never regret.

When it comes to styling occasion dresses, less is always more, so don’t go overboard. Go for simple and minimal jewellery like studded earring and necklace, carry a classy clutch and complete the look with chic stiletto heels.

Dresses are evergreen and these are some of the types I think every woman must have in her wardrobe. While buying a dress, always remember that no matter what type you go for, make sure it’s comfortable, as comfort is the most important thing when it comes to fashion.

Taking Office Wear into Off Duty Style

When it comes to style, I’m a big believer in fluidity: transitioning daytime makeup into night-time glam, styling up a casual t-shirt with a sequin jacket for a night out on the town, repurposing beachwear in the city with some carefully selected accessories – you get the idea. And while we’ve all spent a lot of time thinking about how to dress up certain casual items in our wardrobes, I’m sure most of us have not thought quite as much about how we might dress down our work wear to make it more fun and fashionable for the weekend. But it’s time to start thinking about it, pronto, because it will open up a new world of possibilities in your wardrobe. Trust me.

The most important thing to remember is that this style is all about balance. To make your work wear more stylish and less serious, you need to balance it out with elements that are carefree, casual and even bohemian.

That’s what I kept in mind as I started to style this cute rabbit print shirt. In order to brighten up the look and take it from corporate to colourful, I decided to pair the shirt with a pair of cobalt blue cropped pants. Not only did these pants match the print while brightening up the look; the cropped style took the fuss out of wearing a shirt, instantly giving the look a carefree vibe. Next, I threw on a bohemian coin necklace over the shirt, to add some more fun to the ensemble. This simple addition took my entire outfit far, far away from the office space and into a more relaxed, weekend-ready zone.

The final additions were a pair of sunglasses (I never leave the house without them!) and a pair of strappy heels – but you could just as easily pair this with white sneakers if you wanted a super casual outfit. And with that, I was ready to rock my corporate shirt out and about over the weekend, in a look that was carefree and chic, yet put-together.

If you keep the idea of balance in mind, you can pretty much take any piece of office wear you own, and style it for an after-hours or weekend look. If you wanted to style your regular black trousers, you could easily dress them down by pairing them with a simple white t-shirt and sneakers, or a tank top, leather jacket and boots for a more edgy outfit. You can dress down corporate work dresses by throwing on more bohemian jewellery, switching up your hairstyle (for example, from a chignon to a messy bun) or even throwing on a cooler jacket (leather, denim, bomber…the possibilities are endless!)

The trick is to open your mind to experimenting, to mixing and matching, and to understanding that clothing items don’t have to be worn in only one way – you can wear them however you please! By starting to reuse your formal clothes over the weekend, you will not only get more wear out of them but also expand your off-duty wardrobe greatly. And as every fashion lover knows, it doesn’t get better than that.

Holiday Lookbook – Your Holiday Outfit Guide

If you have been following my blog then you must have noticed this summer has been all about beaches for me. I love a beach destination for the summers. It’s a great way to relax, rejuvenate and get some tan during your summer break. From all my travels this summer I have come up with a list of outfits which are perfect for a beach vacation. So read on and slay the beach look with these must-have outfits:

Tunic: Summer wear is what comes to mind when I think of tunics. They are one of the most comfortable outfits for summer. What makes tunics a go-to outfit for me is that it is so versatile and flatters every body type. You can style it as a dress, as a short kurti over palazzo pants or shorts and even with trousers for work wear. You can even wear it as a beach cover up and get some tan while reading a romantic novel by the ocean.

Off-Shoulder Outfit: Off-shoulder tops are popular on the runway as well as on the streets. Off-shoulder tops are flirty, feminine and look great with shorts as well as a midi skirt. You can pair it with statement accessories to jazz it up for a dinner date or wear it with ripped shorts for a day on the beach. Go for a lacy top with intricate designs to keep it feminine and fun. For a chic look team a flowy top with high-waist shorts, slip on shoes and fun accessories.

Cold Shoulder Top: Another popular trend this spring summer is the cold shoulder trend. If you aren’t comfortable baring your shoulders in an off-shoulder top then this is the trend for you. It’s quirky, fun and very chic. You can opt for a cold shoulder top with bell sleeves or ruffled sleeves to add more drama to your outfit. Don’t just restrict this trend to a top you can also wear a dress with cold shoulder sleeves for a beachy look.

Maxi Dress: I love wearing maxi dresses. This breezy style is one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. I can wear it as a cover-up over a bikini or team it with an embellished belt for a night out. I prefer going for printed maxi dresses in vibrant shades.

Long Shirt or Shirt Dress: Is a fuss free outfit in your beach vacation wardrobe. You can wear a long shirt or a shirt dress for a day at the beach, a casual affair or even date. I prefer shirts in linen material as it helps the skin breathe and keeps me cool in the rising temperatures. You can pair a long shirt with a pair of skinny jeans or shorts and slip on sandals or wear it as it is with a belt for a fitted look.

Sleeveless Jackets: Cover ups are essential for a beach holiday. Since it would be too hot for jackets I suggest a sleeveless jacket in net or crochet material to slip on over your crop top or bikini top and shorts. You can also opt for long sleeveless jackets in chiffon in colorful floral prints as a beach cover up.

Apart from these outfits don’t forget to pack a few swimsuits, sunscreen, shades and a hat on your beach vacay. What are your beach holiday outfits? Let me know in the comments below.

Outfit Post: Shirt Dress

As the weather warms up and summer makes its presence felt, I find myself looking for transitional pieces that simultaneously exude an easy-breezy laidback vibe, while allowing me to look sophisticated and put-together. One such piece is the shirt dress – a flowing yet tailored silhouette that allows me to enjoy the best of both worlds. The beauty of the shirt dress lies in its versatility – you can dress it up or down, wear it during the day or at night, and make it look ultra casual or super smart.
shirt-dressshirt-dress-outfit-2Recently, I styled a gorgeous, blue striped linen shirt dress from Zara for a day out in the city. The shirt dress exuded an effortlessly stylish and relaxed vibe, so I paired it with a chain-strap crossbody bag for some extra pizzazz. I finished off the look with pair of statement shoes, a cute fedora hat and some beautiful minimalistic jewellery by One by One Jewellery. This ensemble is absolutely perfect for daytime adventures or brunch with your girlfriends!shirt-dress-outfit-3Having said that, you could easily wear the shirt dress in the evening by cinching it with a smart belt to add more shape and finishing the look off with bolder statement jewellery and some sexy heels. Remember, the shorter the hemline, the smaller the heel! If you want a more modest look or it’s simply cold outside, you could even throw on a pair of sheer leggings below a classic shirt dress. Finish it off with a trusty leather jacket and you’re good to go.shirt-dress-outfit-5 shirt-dress-outfit-6

And by ‘loose,’ I don’t mean ill fitted, but one that allows for freedom of movement. There are plenty of styles, silhouettes and shades available, so look around for something that fits your own personal sense of style. Have fun playing around with different accessories and complimentary pieces that can amp up your look, and make this trend your own!

How to Style a Shirt Dress – Outfit Post

Shirt Dress is a great versatile outfit that you can wear in summer with leggings and boots, and in summers you can pair the same dress with a blazer or light cover up and statement shoes to form a completely new outfit or look.Wolf-and-Whistle-look-of-the-day
Today I am styling a lovely new dress from Wolf & Whistle SS16 collection.

Wolf & Whistle is a lovely brand from the UK that offers the perfect blend ofcreativity, utility and quality in every garment. Their pieces are effortlessly elegant and undoubtedly timeless – this gorgeous turquoise Bow Front Shirt.

Wolf-and-Whistle-outfit-dress

Dress that I styled is a testament to this fact.Though the dress is made from a blend of polyester and elastane, it has a lovely, luxurious, satin-like feel and finish. It falls beautifully as well, accentuating the femininity of a woman’s body. When it comes to fashion, I am all about the fit, and this dress scores high in that department. As if that wasn’t enough, the colour is absolutely stunning – it is bright, energetic and full of depth. If you are trying to move away from black, white and grey, this is a great colour to start with.

Wolf-and-Whistle-outfit-dress-5

I wore this lovely dress to work one day, and received many complements. I paired the dress with peep toe, block heel boots – my favourite kind of footwear to sport with knee length dresses. I find that they pull the entire look together in a sophisticated and polished manner, in a way that other footwear styles cannot replicate.

French-Connection-Peep-Toe-Shoes

For some extra oomph, I like to sport this dress with a structured blazer. The brown one that features in the photographs is my current favourite. This dress is also one of my favourite pieces to wear for a daytime coffee date with my friends, but it can be worn after hours as well. It is sleek and chic, making it a great transition piece that you can easily wear from day to night with a few changes in styling.

Wolf-and-Whistle-outfit-dress-3

If I were to sport this dress after sunset, I would pair it with some statement earrings, glamorous pencil heels and a classy clutch.

Zara-Crossbody-bag

The best part about this dress is the bow, which is a strong statement in its own right, so you don’t need to throw on a bold necklace to enhance the look. In fact, that might be overkill, but I reckon that this dress would look lovely with a tattoo necklace. Though I have currently worn a illusion chain with black beads.

When it comes to styling your hair with this dress, you can go both ways – leaving it loose and down, or putting it into a bun for a more formal look. I am always on the hunt for versatile, classic pieces and this dress is the perfect example of a garment that fits the bill.

Finding the Perfect Summer Dress for You

dressesLadies, it’s summer dress time. We all have our favourite two or three summer dresses, that until recently have spent far too many months lurking at the backs of our wardrobes. Break them out, by all means, but just in case you’re looking to treat yourself with a new summer frock, then here’s our guide to the latest and greatest styles to get you inspired for summer.

Japanese

Japanese is so totally in right now. Whether it’s kimonos, Japanese-style flower print or traditional Japanese silhouettes, it’s all hot to trot. Embrace your inner Orient this season with something a little different.

Shirt

Shirt dresses are every girl’s dream. Easy to wear, easy to accessorise, and ultimately the very best of casual summer wear. They are well and truly back with a vengeance this season, so buy it, belt it and work it!

Tunic

Tunics are perfect for that effortless just-threw-it-on look. Whether you’re at the beach, by the pool, swanning around town or just pottering at home, tunics are every girls dream when it comes to looking effortlessly chic.

Shift
There’s absolutely no denying that shift dresses are downright fabulous. Alas, though, certain figures just don’t work with them. If you do have a straight up and down figure, though, then go for it. Shifts are classic and timeless, but have made a real statement and have a high street presence this season.

Denim
The 90s are back, and so is denim. Denim everything. Denim dresses do, of course, come in all shapes and sizes, so there’s absolutely no excuse not to add a statement denim dress to your wardrobe this year.
