Indian Wedding Make Up Trends

One cannot possibly miss a very important aspect in every Indian bride’s list: Make up! With a myriad of wedding themes available, zeroing on a particular theme is tough, not to mention deciding the corresponding ‘look’ is even tougher.

Thus, prospective brides fussing around every minute detail and expecting high standard is not uncommon; aka move over salons and hello professional make up artists. After all, every bride wants to look her stunning best to be able to show off on all the numerous social media sites and photo opportunities. So, what does a bride keep in mind in the current wedding season? Here is our little pick-:

Eye Makeup:
When brides decide their outfit, one of the first questions that pop up in their mind with respect to make up is; what colour eye shadow and lip colour should they be using? The eyes speak a thousand words and Smokey eyes will never fail to impress. But this year we are ditching the blacks and opting for candid colours like metallic greens, gold and pinks. Here is a little tip; throw in some glitter or jewel tones to make a bolder statement. Don’t  forget to get those fake eye lashes out and make them long and doll like. Mickey Contractor, the brand ambassador of MAC cosmetics recommends using fake eye lashes in all your events.

Lips:
Now coming to the next important aspect; your lips! While dark colours are definitely in, but we are recommending berry hues like bright strawberry, black current and even reds. Make those lips plump and pouty with some gloss. Ladies, don’t be shy in trying a maharani pink with your orange lehenga and dark purple pouts with your green lehenga, it is all about contrast and standing out among the crowd.

Face:
After the colours have been taken care of, what about the base i.e. your face? The makeup moguls suggest skipping heavy bronzing, highlighting and sticking to the glow. Just a neutral blush and a pinch of highlighter on the cheek is enough to make you rule the day.  Remember to  keep it simple and natural. For all those getting married during the day, our stylists recommend it to keep the entire make up fresh and dewy. The neutral base on your face along with peachy pink lips and glittery golden eyes will make you summer-y stunning. Techniques like air-brushing, though a bit expensive would also help in ensuring that the make-up lasts long.

Hairs:
Now give those long straight tresses of yours a welcome break and make way for wavy braids and side swept fish tail braids. We are not saying goodbyes to those waves, but we just want them tighter and curlier.  We also recommend keeping accessories like padding, hair donuts and sausages handy to create that bohemian or romantic look in a short span of time. This way the hair stays secured for a longer duration as well. Thanks to Kate Middleton, seashell-shaped buns are also making a wave, although they may not suit everyone.

We always keep a watch out for all the trends and recommendations. But nevertheless, we also believe in staying true to one’s style and intuition. Yes, we believe in letting your heart speak when it comes to deciding on your make-up and hairstyle.

So, before blindly following a make-up trend, we advise you to discuss your options with your make-up and hair professionals and decide these much in advance, so as to save you those last minute panic attacks. Remember that despite the makeup, the most stunning bride is the one who has a natural glow, which stems from her inner happiness. So, here is to a colourful future for all those stunning brides to be.

  • To ensure that your makeup stays on for long without getting patchy, always start with a good-quality primer suited to your skin quality and complexion.
  • Never step out without lip colour, it is your biggest weapon. If nothing else, at least have a tinted lip balm on at all times.
  • Always use the appropriate makeup brushes when doing your makeup – it makes a huge difference to the final look.
  • Balance your makeup; if your eyes are bold, let the lips be soft and muted and vice versa; if your cheeks are highlighted, make sure to contour accordingly.
  • Use mascara on both lash-lines. It opens up the eyes, giving the impression of big, beautiful eyes.

  • Whenever buying new makeup products, in particular, for the skin, try it out on your skin at the sales counter. Makeup looks different on everyone and distinct from its appearance in the container, so it is always better to test it first.
  • When putting on makeup, keep a bunch of q-tips and makeup remover handy. This is an easy way to get rid of smudges and tiny flaws.

5 Makeup Tips for a Flawless Finish Everyday

Makeup-Tips

Women love their makeup and a good portion of us “getting ready” period, is spent putting on numerous products. But makeup enhances the looks, only when done well. So here are 5 makeup tips that will help you get your look right every time!

Match Products to Complexion

From base makeup to skin enhancers, lip-colours and eye-shadows, always go for shades that complement your skin tone. Nothing looks more shabby than wrong-toned foundation, unflattering cheek stains and jarring eyes or lips. Always test products at the sales counter before buying to make sure they are the right choice for your skin.

Always Accentuate One Feature

Whenever you’re doing your makeup, accentuate only one of your features, be it your eyes, lips or cheekbones. If you try and highlight all three features, you’ll probably end up looking like a heavily caked geisha. Drawing attention to just one feature tends to create a soothing look which is striking and glamorous nonetheless.

Be-Aware (beware) of the Weather

Always do your makeup in keeping with the weather conditions outside. If it is hot and humid, use lighter, gel/water-based products. If it is dry and wintery, use hydrating, cream-based ones. And keep blotting paper handy at all times. You don’t want any smudges or sheen to ruin your look, do you?

Use Q-Tips for Correction

What do you do when you make small errors while doing your makeup? Those little smudges? Those squiggly lines? Use Q-tips. Before starting your makeup, dip a Q-tip in makeup remover and keep on your dresser, ready to use whenever you falter. This way, you’ll clean up what’s botched without making a mess or having to re-do everything, all over.

Use Clean Surfaces Only

Any surface you use your makeup on/with need to be clean. So wash your face and hands thoroughly before donning on your products. If you work on unwashed skin, all oil and impurities and dirt will get trapped inside and later cause pimples and blackheads.

Use these  makeup tips and you’ll notice the difference, everytime!

Be a Beach Beauty

Beach-HolidaysHere is a step by step guide to get you ready for the golden sandy beaches with confidence.

  • Sun Safe – Whether you go for cream or oil, its essential to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Sun rays not only damage and age the skin but can also lead to skin cancer. Before you head out make sure you use a good sunscreen. Make sure you reapply your sun cream or oil regularly, especially after the dip in the water.
  • Nail It – Pretty Hues or Bold Bright nails look best on the beach. Before applying polish give yourself a manicure to make sure your nails are in a tip-top shape. Don’t forget your feet either, a nice pedicure and a beautiful pair of flip flops or open toed sandals in the evening will make you stand out in the crowd.
  • Protect Your Locks – Your skin isn’t the only thing that can get seriously damaged in the sun, your hair can too. All that sea salt, chlorine and sun can play havoc with your hair and turn your glossy locks into an unruly frizzy haystack. You either use a nice SPF protection for your hair or repair remedy to add back the lost moisture and repair any damage done throughout the day.
  • Smooth Skin – Pre Holiday, get your skin glowing by buffing and exfoliating. You can use a body scrub or use a body brush.
  • Minimum Makeup – Heavy makeup on the beach is a complete no-no, but if you can’t dare to bare, a slick of waterproof mascara with a sweep of subtle lipstick will keep you looking fresh faced and gorgeous. In the evening some bronzer and metallic shimmering eye shadow will enhance your tan and give you a healthy glow.
