Winter Outfit Styling Tips

There’s something about the winters that makes you fall in love with the season. The hot cocoa, snuggly nights by the fire place, Christmas, the snow and winter wear which makes the season special. But winter fashion can be tricky. You can easily look like a mess or freeze to death if you don’t get your outfit right. Many of us sometime think that winter fashion is boring and you have to replace your cute floral dresses with grey and dull sweaters. But winter fashion can also be interesting with a few tips and tricks. This winter let’s transform your winter wardrobe with these styling tips:
Skinny Jeans: Skinny Jeans are a must have for this season as they are extremely versatile, keep you warm and give a slender look to your outfit. Be it ripped or leather, one can never go wrong with skinny jeans. Team up a pair of skinny jeans with ankle booties and a cashmere sweater for a casual look. Skinny jeans or straight cut pants also look great with oversized coats without making your outfit look bulky. If you prefer wide legged pants then opt for a more structured coat and wedges for a chic look.

Wrap/Scarves: Wraps and Scarves can be your best friend this season. They can make any outfit stylish and fun in minutes. So invest in a variety of colorful and textured wraps and scarves. Also don’t be afraid to experiment with the different styles of wearing a scarf. Make the scarf the hero of the outfit by looping it around a plain black dress and transform your look.

Boots: Boots are a must have this season. Ankle boots are great for daily wear; you can pair them with almost any outfit. Be it a maxi dress and a jacket or turtleneck top and skinny jeans. Over the knee boots are also extremely stylish. Pair them with a printed skirt, a knitted dress or even over your skinny jeans for a trendy look.

Turtlenecks: Turtlenecks are great for winters. They keep you warm and can be worn for office wear as well as casual wear. Tuck in a turtleneck top with your favorite pair of trousers and a well fitted blazer with loafers for a stylish office look. You can also wear it by itself with a pair of jeans and some long necklaces for everyday wear.

Leather Jacket: A leather jacket is a wardrobe essential. Create a biker girl look by teaming it up with a pair of knee length boots, skinny jeans, and a graphic tee. Or pair it over a floral dress for a cool and casual look. You can invest in a basic black jacket or opt for colors like brown, tan, maroon or camel.

Jumpers: Cashmere jumpers are vital for winter. You can dress them up or down easily during the season. They are also extremely versatile, classy and look great with jeans, midi skirts, or dresses. For a formal look wear it with a collared shirt, a pair of trousers and a trench coat. You can also wear them with jeans, a statement bag and peep-toe ankle boots. For windy days you can team it up with a wrap to keep yourself warm.

Hats: Hats are like scarves. They add an element of fun to your outfit instantly. They can transform a boring black sweater to something chic if paired correctly. Team up a beanie with a formal dress, a trench coat and heels for office or pair a fedora with wide legged pants, loafers and a cashmere sweater for relaxed look.

Suede Dresses: Suede, Wool or velvet are the fabrics of the season. Style a suede dress with a cropped jacket, ankle length booties, leg warmers or stockings and a fedora hat for a boho look. You can also invest in suede or velvet skirts in bright hues like red, blue or maroon and create fun looks.

Statement Coat: Add a pop of color to your neutral wardrobe by investing in a statement coat. They can be oversized in vibrant hues like pink, orange or red or be textured and in neutral shades like black and grey. I have created a look with my statement coat by teaming it up with a pastel pink blouse, straight cut jeans and peep-toe boots for a casual look.

The Indian Bride needs no introduction; she struts with elegance and vibrancy whilst maintaining poised and dignified. There was never any dearth of creativity and experimentation in the bridal wear department, and with ever-evolving Indian fashion, but it is only getting better! Whether you want to play it low-key or go all out and make a splash, you can find options galore depending on your taste and style. The key to reflecting your inner beauty and joy has always been to stay true to your personal style. You are sure to exude confidence when you’re comfortable with your fashion choices. However, that does not mean that you compromise on staying in trend.

A blend of your personal style and emerging styles is the best way to go! It would be important to note that more than 73% Indian Brides who live abroad prefer to have their Wedding outfit custom- made to their taste (Source- Indian Hanger).

Keeping this in mind, we’ve listed down our tips on what you should look for when picking out your trousseau. The outfits featured in this post are available on IndianHanger.com.

  1. Play with colours: Gold, Beige and hues of Green are the new Reds. Elegant beige and gold Lehengas with ornate gold embroidery is sure to make any bride look divine! Since it is a classic ensemble, it is suitable for any Bride, irrespective of your personal style. Opting for these combinations also makes the piece versatile, as it can be worn at a later date as well.
  2. Fabrics: You can choose from silk, georgette, and even Banarasi silks with zari work to make a statement. Team your gold saree with a pop of colour in your blouse or choli to break the monotony. The highlight of such outfits is
that you can match them with any kind of jewellery; be it polki, antique gold or diamonds to complete the Royal look.
  3. Add a twist to your traditional outfits: Mix and match and play around your wardrobe a little to create a style statement. You can team a traditional lehenga with an embroidered off-shoulder or cold shoulder blouse just like the runway hits by Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra. This gives you plenty of room to show off your heirloom polki jewellery or tiered necklaces. Printed or embroidered crop tops in beautiful fabrics such as silk and brocade can be teamed with modern dhoti pants, sarees, high waisted skirts or lehengas to add versatility to your collection.
  4. Indo-western silhouettes: It’s time for Anarkalis and Lehengas to move over, so that we can say Hello to Gowns! Saree gowns and draped gowns are sure shot head-turners during a cocktail or reception party. You can also play around with a one shoulder cut that flares along the hem, anarkali gowns or organza pleats this season. They blend very well with traditional Indian accessories, whilst making a style statement of their own. Just a tip to keep in mind: Make sure that they do not weigh you down as that can be a dampner!
  5. Jacketed in style: Re-usable separates like jackets are quite a hit when teamed with palazzo pants, skirts, lehengas or even a saree. Choose from a heavily embroidered open jacket in dark hues such as brown, navy blue, maroon or black to go along with a simple saree with a gold border. Jackets are the go-to option for a Sangeet, as they are comfortable and will enable you to dance the night away!
  6. Get some velvet: The soft and luxe velvet fabric is a must have for every bride. Watch the intricate zari work/ embroidery come alive in velvet! If you prefer a minimalistic look, you can start by pairing your embellished saree with velvet blouses. If you are going for a heavier look, you can try an all over velvet embroidered lehenga. Believe me, it will make you look drop dead gorgeous!
  7. Accessories: You can always team your outfit with traditional polki, diamonds and gold. But how about adding some chand maang tikkas to look like the Royal Queen that you truly are! Try a chunky bracelet for your reception party and give the bangles a break. The Kamarbandh or the waistband has been a runway hit too. You can choose from plain, narrow, printed or embellished Kamarbandh’s in all shapes and sizes. It can be worn as a belt around your waist or under your blouse to give it that high waisted silhouette.

Most importantly, remember to ensure that you feel comfortable in your skin as the outfits have to be worn by YOU. Whilst you can follow trends, make sure you choose ensembles that make your heart skip a beat every time that you see them!

Style Advice – Let’s Experiment, Let’s be Bold

I am someone who is addicted to black. It’s a colour that I end up picking out all the time. I feel comfortable, confident and chic in black. But over the past few days, I was just going through my wardrobe and realised that I have a lot of black in my wardrobe. Black has a lot of benefits, it makes you look slimmer, and it’s versatile, matches well with other colours, it perfect for any time of the day, you can jazz up the colour easily and more. But however flattering the colour maybe for many people, I believe it’s important to have some colour in your wardrobe and break the monotone of black from our life.

I am not banning you all from black. But there is something such as too much of a good thing. Many times people also term as black as boring or dull, especially when you wear it all the time. Adding colour to your wardrobe can get tricky at times. It is important to know which colour can work for your skin and then play with tones and create lots of new outfits. Colour is one of the elements which can instantly style up your look. But when picking out a colour its best to understand your skin tone to see what suits you the best.

If you have a warm skin tone i.e. you have greenish, yellowish or light brown skin then you should go for warm colours like olive, coral, honey, and beige. If you have a cool skin tone i.e. you have pink, blue or rosy skin then you should go for cool colours like lavender, grey, blue or rose. If you have a neutral skin with pale or grey shades, then you should wear colours like jade, red, white and medium blue. But there are some colours which look great on every skin tone. These include colours like teal, blush pink, dark purple, marsala and pure white.

When incorporating colour in your outfit, it is important to balance it out.

Here,  I wanted my dress to be a statement piece, so I made sure the rest of my outfit was muted. I paired the wine hued dress with strappy black heels and a black bag. I also matched my lipstick to my outfit, rather than opting for a bright colour and keep the rest of my makeup simple with beachy waves.

I believe it’s important for us to experiment more with colours in our wardrobe, especially in corporate world. Sometimes, our work wardrobe is filled with boring neutrals like black, brown or navy blue. When working with people I’ve mostly seen that they have a monotone of one colour or lots of outfits in the same colour. But when we wear bright colours people remember us more than when we were the regular black. Incorporate some colour in your work wear by wearing a brightly coloured jacket with your formal black dress; offset your staple outfit by making the accessories the star by wearing bright-hued heels or a bag, step out in bright bottoms. Colour blocking is a new trend, use this technique by using black and shades of blue.

Your black’s have a special place in your wardrobe but don’t be afraid to experiment with a little colour.

Let’s get bold.

Life and Fashion is Beautiful! Positive Mind, Positive Vibes, Positive Life

Ladies with a passion for fashion – UNITE! Now, our world of style and sartorial pleasures is downright wonderful, filled with vibrant colours, quirky prints, statement-making embellishments, delicate details and so much more. Of course, there’s no denying that every stylish woman faces fashion-induced frustration from time to time. Do any of these situations ring a bell?
Life and Fashion is Beautiful

1. When the body isn’t hair-free and you want to wear a skirt/dress/shorts/sleeveless clothes because the weather outside is beautiful. Moral of the story? Shave (or wax) regularly!

2. When you don’t remember which group of friends saw you in an outfit. “Am I repeating clothes or was that another outing I wore this to?” Psst…check Facebook and Instagram – if you’ve worn to outfit before, you probably have photographic evidence lying around!

3. When you have your heart set on some clothes/shoes/accessories/makeup you thought you’d buy but is nowhere to be found when you visit the store next time. Well, that’s what happens when you don’t seize the day.

4. When you have your entire outfit planned in your head but something goes wrong when you finally put it on. “I’m guilty as charged – I change multiple clothes before finding something I’m still not perfectly happy with.”

5. When you decide to give lipstick a skip, go all minimalist with just lip-gloss on, and the wind starts blowing. Hair sticking to the lips is not a fashion statement and you know it.

6. When you leave the house in daytime and can’t remember if you put suntan on. “Like I didn’t have enough on my mind, now I have to worry about tanning and my weakening memory.”

7. When you want/have to wear heels and know it’s going to be a long day. Sometimes, fashion is not about comfort at all. But hey, no pain, no gain!

8. When you’re not carrying your lipstick and have to eat/drink something. “It’s okay. My lipstick is non-transferable. Yes, I’m sure my lipstick is non-transferable. Of course my lipstick is…damn! It’s so not!” Tip? Always use a straw!

9. When you think you’re having a good hair day at home, only to realize that your hair-luck ran out the moment you left the house. Sometimes life can be just so unfair! Ah, well, rock your new ‘do like superstar. You might even start a new trend!

10. When the sale season is on and you’ve already shopped too much at retail price. To indulge or not indulge, that is the question!quoteFashion is a funny thing, isn’t it? On some days, it makes us smile, and on others, it pushes us to the brink of annoyance. When you’re faced with a day like this, remember, that it will pass. Pull yourself together, walk with your shoulders held high and remember that life – and fashion – is beautiful. That’s why you fell in love with it in the first place, after all.

My Favourite Looks From the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring 2016

It’s that time of the year again when the fashion world is abuzz with activity. There’s an exciting line-up of Fashion Shows in store for us, kick-started by the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week Spring 2016.

Haute-Couture-Week-2016

And what a week it was! The most exclusive fashion brands showcased their Spring collections’ in the sartorially-charged environs of beautiful Paris. The events were held from January 24 – 29 and the who’s-who of the fashion world were there to attend them all. I followed all the news from the Paris Haute Couture Week 2016 very closely, because, well, I just couldn’t stay away from the glitz and glamour!

The collections of fashion giants like Chanel, Dior, Armani and Versace made quite an impression as usual. Their clothes were dramatic, striking and typically OTT, making a bold, beautiful statement with much panache. Jean Paul Gaultier’s display also garnered much attention with its emphasis on flashy, hippy styles of retro nightclubbing.

But my favourites were the collections by Valentino, Viktor & Rolf and Elie Saab. They stood out above the rest and left a lasting impression on their audiences. Valentino’s line reinvented 20th-century Venetian-pagan romanticism in some fabulous apparel, catering to modern fashion sensibilities and lovers of classics alike. Most of their outfits were floor-length pieces embellished with sequins, velvet-detailing and sheer bodices in warm, royal hues.

While Valentino achieved a fine balance of classicism and novelty, Viktor & Rolf remained true to their avant gardeism and captivated the audience with their outrageous clothing. Heaving influenced by Cubist artistry, they presented an interesting spin on conventional styles, using 3D construction and stunning pattern-work. One may doubt the wearability of this collection, but its brilliant conceptualization is simply undeniable.

I have to say though, even as I enjoy the occasional wacky collection, I have a weakness for uber-feminine, delicate styles. Naturally, my favourite collection from the entire show was the magnificent line by Elie Saab. Oh, I could go on and on about his “Enter India” collection and still feel I didn’t do it justice. Saab admitted to being inspired by the notion of a 19th century Englishwoman on a trip to India. His line up featured unique accessories such as lace-up combat boots, sequined Wellies, studded creepers and elaborate belt bags. There were also some exquisite beaded dresses with above-the-ankle hemlines. But the opulent floor-length gowns are what stole the show. In metallic shades with exquisite embroidery and glittery embellishments, these gowns combined the elementary lines of western clothing with the royal splendour of Indian lehengas. I love fusion styles, so naturally, my favourite piece was an ivory-golden gown with a flowy, head-covering train.

In the end, I can only say that I thoroughly enjoyed this Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. I believe that this brilliant start is a precursor to the wonderful fashion output 2016 is to bring to us. And these were just my favourites – I love to hear from you about what you loved from this show too!

Barbie Becomes Better With The Newly Released Dolls Having Varied Body Types

new-barbie

Have you come across the huge wave of social media appreciation that has gone Mattel – The Barbie Maker’s – way, ever since the release of their new dolls this year? I did, and it made me so very happy! Now, aside from the original Barbie body, the Barbie Fashionistas Line has “petite”, “curvy” and “tall” dolls too. Isn’t that simply wonderful?

Maybe this diversification of Barbie body types affected me more deeply because I have a closer insight into feminine body image issues. As an image consultant and fashion stylist, I’m privy to the insecurities and desires of women from different walks of life. You have no idea how many of these arise from a mindless longing for “the perfect body”.

Today, with so much discourse on the female body, numerous body types and new definitions of “perfection”, things are changing. Slowly perhaps, but there has certainly been some progress. I mean, look at this Fashionistas Line of Barbies that has been released in 2016. It has dolls with 4 body types, 7 skin tones, 22 eye colours, 24 hairstyles and many stylistic nuances. The first-ever flat shoes on a Barbie are also finally here. Surely, we are moving towards a healthier understanding of diversity and individualism and that is brilliant, no less.

In my opinion, this respect and appreciation of all body types is absolutely essential. We are all born unique, with varied physical features, and that’s just how it is. No brand, no toy and no designer label should set standards of beauty common to all, when we are all born so differently. True, the hour-glass figure has been considered the best female form since times immemorial. But we need to move beyond this mind-block and realise that different proportions suit different body structures and beauty is in fact, in the eyes of the beholder. As women, we should be intensely aware and proud of our bodily form and dress to accentuate our assets. We should wear clothes that flatter our body shape and that will boost our confidence in many, many ways.

With Mattel having realized this, the iconic Barbie is now a better reflection of different feminine body structures and complexions. This is a step in the right direction. I hope you’re headed the same way too!

How to Inject Colour into Your Spring Wardrobe

Spring is just around the corner, and we’re counting down the days until the official first day of Spring. So you know what that means, ladies. It’s time to pack away your navy, grey, brown and black, and embrace a whole new wardrobe of colour!

spring-wardrobe

Of course, some of us are bolder than others, and we all have different tastes. For some, we wear bright colours all through the winter, cos we just don’t give a damn. For others, the thought of wearing bright nail varnishes and shocking lipsticks is just about as much as we can take, let alone statement florals, pastels and neons.

So, here you have three simple ways to inject a bit of life (and by life I do, of course, mean colour) into your Spring wardrobe. And the beauty of all of these is you can go as loud, or as subtle as you like.

spring-wardrobe-1

Accessories

Everyone loves accessories, and we all know that no outfit is truly complete without them. If you’re a little apprehensive when it comes to wearing a lot of colour, accessories can be a great place to start. However, if you love colour and couldn’t feel more comfortable in it, then accessories can add a whole extra dimension of colour to your look. Also, let’s not forget money. Of course, hitting the high street for a whole new Spring wardrobe is simply not a luxury that most of us have, but pick up a few new accessories, and not only will you transform last season’s clothes into hot-off-the-press looks, but you’ll actually feel like you have an entire new wardrobe for a mere fraction of the cost.

spring-wardrobe-shoes

Shoes

If you’ve exhausted your standard accessories and want to make a slightly bigger statement, then there’s your excuse for a new pair of shoes. We all love shoes, and they are a great way to make a colourful statement without taking you a step too far outside your comfort zone. And if you’re not into your stilettos, fret not. Dozens of styles of flats, even trainers if that’s your bag, are available in a rainbow of colours to get you feeling colourful. What better way to give yourself happy feet this Spring!

spring-wardrobe-makeup

Makeup

Now, colourful make up, especially when you’re not used to it, can be pretty scary. The trick is to practice at home first. Literally everyone can look great with a bright eyeshadow or lip colour, but it’s about finding the right colour for you, and finding a colour palette you feel comfortable using. There’s no reason you can’t spend every day looking and more importantly feeling a million dollars, and what better way to achieve this than to treat yourself to some real, high end make up. Quality is the key here, as cheap bright make up will look, well, cheap. Lip tints and powdered eye shadows are a good starting point as you can use as much or as little as you like, and layering is always an option. Just promise us one thing: get creative and have fun!

Fives Ways To Rock The Statement Necklace Trend

Statement-NecklaceStatement necklaces are my favourite form of adornment. I love them for the instant glamour that they add to a drab outfit and for their easy-breezy versatility. Lucky for me, the statement necklace trend has been superhot for the last year and I do not see it slowing down anytime soon. The best part about these baubles is that they come in all colours, shapes and sizes, so there is bound to be something for everyone. Of course, many women are intimidated by these neckpieces due to their ‘statement’ factor. I often hear questions like “How should I wear this?” and “Is this OTT?”

So here I present you with five easy ways to style your statement necklace.

With A Buttoned-Up Shirt

Bold neckpieces work really well with a stiff shirt. The bauble adds a touch of glamorous femininity to what would otherwise be a rather bland outfit. I prefer to button the shirt up till the top so that the necklace sits neatly below the collar, offering a classy peek-a-boo. This look is ideal for adding some pizzazz to ordinary office attire without breaking the dress code.

With A Slouchy T-shirt

I am a huge fan of laidback outfits that involve graphic t-shirts, skinny jeans and comfortable shoes. Now, add a sparkly necklace to this ensemble and you have fashioned yourself a deadly outfit. Bold baubles are a great way to dress up casual looks. If you are leaning towards an edgy feel, considering layering metal necklaces of varied lengths a la Dylanlex.

With A Dull Colour

The good news is that statement necklaces are now available in a wide range of colours. This is an ideal inlet for ladies who are always drawn to darker shades like black, grey and navy blue (guilty as charged!) A vivid neon necklace paired with a dull grey blouse is an awesome way to infuse your look with a fun burst of colour. The brighter, the better!

With A Little Black Dress

Nothing screams sexy like the perfect LBD that clings to your curves and makes you feel like a million bucks. Of course, this classic closet staple needs something to spice it up. Hello, statement necklace! When you are heading out on the town, add a vibrant neckpiece to your black dress for a fun pop of colour. Finish the look with a feisty red lip.

With A Coordinated Colour

Bold jewellery pieces are not always about contrast. One of my favourite ways to rock this trend, and possibly the most unexpected one, is to match the colour in my necklace to another element in my outfit like my shoes or skirt. Not only does this bring the entire look together; it also adds an element of sophistication. If you cannot make an exact match, stick to pairings that are within the same palette of shades.

Clearly, statement necklaces work wonders in spicing up boring outfits, livening up dull colours and adding some oomph to a casual get-up. So, which of these looks are you eager to try, ladies?

High Heels stand for royalty and boldness!

Guest Post!High-Heels

High Heels stand for royalty and boldness!

Why do women like to wear heels? Why are they so obsessed with stilettos, wedges and various other kinds of high-heeled shoes? If I think practically, I would say high heels are the most uncomfortable shoes as they make walking difficult. Then, what’s that thing that makes ladies drool over every hot new pair of high heels they come across? Well, the answer is simple. Women in heels look gorgeous, sexy and classy, all at the same time. High heels make woman feel more powerful and boost their go-getter attitude. Hence, a sensational pair of heels is the favorite of every woman.

History of heels

The love affair of a woman with heels is not new. In fact, it dates back to ancient history when members of the aristocracy used to wear shoes of such kind. In ancient Egypt, shoes became the differentiating factor between the nobility and lower classes. Men and women both used to wear shoes with high wooden or cork soles on special ceremonies to define their social status. Unknowingly, the heel became the identity of superiority. Later in the early 15th century, the most fashionable platform shoe was invented. Within no time, it became a status symbol for high-class women in Europe. These shoes were then adorned with embroidery and lace work to make them look more attractive. Riding boots with heels were introduced in the early 16th century. Both men and women wore these practical shoes. By the end of 16th century, heels became a mark of royalty and only aristocrats were supposed to wear such shoes.

Modern-day heels

Ever since the heels came into being, many experiments have been done with their shapes and sizes to make them statement pieces. Today’s modern-age women prefer more practical styles like wedges as along with style, they provide the required support to their feet. As shoes really does matter, give your personality that extra push with a stiletto or pumps. Working women are rather more fascinated by these towering heels, and they often slip on a pair of their highest heels while heading to an important client meeting or interview. A lady who means just business often wear heels to work as she feels more influential while some wear them to make others perceive them as more influential. Whatever be the reason, just grab your BFFs and stand tall and bold.

Must-have styles

Wedges: Take a break from your boring flats. It’s time to accentuate your style with trendy wedges. For a day-out with friends, wedge heels would be the most appropriate choice as these are not just funky but comfortable too. Team a complementing pair with your solid dress and stay stylish and comfortable all day.

Stilettos: For enterprising ladies, a pair of black stilettos is a must-have. Be it making an impression in the boardroom or grabbing those eyeballs in an after-office party, a pair of stilettos would let you do just that. Stiletto shoes come with slender and high heels and make a woman look bold and stylish in an instant. So, now you know the secret of a flawless professional look.

Sandals: Nothing can better complement your sari look than a pair of high heel sandals. While going to a marriage, slip on a glittering pair of sandals to attain a flawless and feminine look. What’s more! Sandals are quite comfortable to hang out the whole day. There are so many variations available in sandals that you would love to have all of them. Strappy sandals are a big hit these days and look great with short dresses. Grab your favorite pair today!

Knee-high boots: The easiest way to survive your style during winter months is to wear those high-heeled knee-high boots. Wear your boots with a trench coat and give your look an edge with a printed scarf.

Fashion Trend Alert: Bright Lace

Colored-Lace

We have all loved lace since we were kids, makes me feel all girly and young again. When you think about lace the first thought that springs to your mind is the white colored lace we have all seen in bridal gowns in whites and soft hues.

The trend this season is taking a detour from the traditional and opting for brighter hues. Bright colors are the trend this season be it for the western or traditional attire. Added bonus is you dont need to be all skinny or perfect hourglass shaoe to carry of this trend.

The bright colored laces vs. the pale hues look good on all skin tones and body types, so go ahead and invest in that lovely dress piece this season.

Black and white: Timeless chic

While the trend of hot neons and bright tangerines may come and go, there is one fashion trend that is forever- the combination of black and white. Simple, elegant, sophisticated, fun, mischievous…there are a whole lot of looks you can achieve with this classic combination which been around for ages.

Black and white is for every season

Unlike pretty pastels and bright neons which are season centric, black and white can be worn regardless of the season or time of the day. For a hot day out in the sun, a white top with a black skirt works fine, while for a night-out, you can always reverse the combination.

Works for every occasion

The evergreen combination works well for every occasion. For a formal dinner with clients, pair a well fitted white shirt with tapering black trousers. Complete the look with a black jacket thrown on top. For a more glamorous look, you can never go wrong with an evening gown in black and white. If it is a little fun and in-your-face look you are looking for, geometric designs in black and white can create the desired optical effect.

black-white-dressWhen worn right, it can be slimming or add volume

Bright colors may not be for everyone, since they create the illusion of a wider frame. However, the classic combination of black and white can be tinkered around with to create the right illusion. If you have an apple-shaped body, black on top and white at the bottom gives you a symmetrical look. For a pear shaped body, the combination should be reversed.

Almost all accessories go well with the look

You don’t need to pull out your hair in order to accessorize your black and white look. While crystal and gold work best with this look, almost anything looks good with black and white. It depends on the appeal you are looking to create and the occasion you are wearing it on.

A pop of color is so in vogue

And if those reasons are not enough for you to go the classic way, here is another one- the pop of color that is trending these days. Pair your understated ensemble in black and white with a pair of bright heels in orange, burgundy or similar colors. Celebs around the world are going for the understated look with a dash of surprise.

Bright Color Heels for Adding a Pop look to your dress

Bright color heels are the latest in trend as far as Hollywood is concerned. In fact, bright colored heels can be perfect to add that pop of color to an otherwise subtle ensemble. Here is what they can be teamed up with:

LBD

That little black dress is the perfect reason to add a bright pair of red wedged heels or something more bold in lime green or pink to your collection. However, as a thumb rule, stay away from yellow if you are going to wear them with black. In all likelihood, you will end up looking like a Bumblebee than a fashionista.

The vibrant look

If keeping it simple isn’t your style, you could even go all out with colors, aka, Bella. A bright pink dress with matching colored heels work equally well to add that pop to your look. However, while going for this look, try and stay away from bright or patterned socks. While socks with bright colored heels are very much the trend, too much of anything can spoil the party.

There are graffiti heels too

For an outrageous (and cool) style statement, there are graffiti heels to be had too in all sorts of colors. If you are going for the graffiti look, try to keep at the top. Neutral colors such as black, beige etc. work the best.

The princess look

A flowing, feminine dress, combined with similar toned heels can make you look vibrant, youthful, elegant and bold, all at the same time.

If you are feeling apprehensive about the whole thing, here are 3 reasons why trying bright colored heels isn’t such a risky proposition after all:

  • They are easier to carry than bright colored clothes. Bright colored heels are an easier option to add those bright hues you have always loved, while still keeping it subtle.
  • You can change them in a jiffy. You may get stuck at a party with a bright orange top that’s making you look like a fool. But a bright pair of heels that isn’t suiting the occasion is relatively easier to change.
  • Of course, they are an easier way to add a new dimension to your look. Even a basic pair of white tee and denims can get a vibrant meaning with a bright pair of heels.
