Romance is in the air – Valentine’s Day Fun and Jacket Styling Tips

Whether in Love or out of Love, most of us have a love or hate relationship with Valentine’s Day. The true notion for those few days in run up to Valentine’s day is literally “Romance is in the air” with the window displays, the malls and all the markets being over the top decorated with Romantic gifts or symbols that represent Romance.

For me this day is special too and I treat this day as an opportunity to thank God for all the “Love” he has blessed me with in this life and here is a post to share my own created outfit for a wintery romantic date – to keep up with the spirits of Feb & coming season of Spring.

When it comes to winter fashion it always ends up being choosing between staying warm or fashionable. But you can stay fashionable and warm by playing with your winter wardrobe.

The main ingredient for a super chic look is a warm jacket. A jacket can make or break any outfit. Jackets are super comfortable and great for layering too. So if you are looking for some inspiration on how to mix it up with jackets or give your boring jackets a new life then look no further. Jackets and scarves are great for winter. You can create so many fun looks with them. Invest in a statement jacket to stand out this season. Scarves the Best Accessory to Style Outfits – Spring Season Outfit Post

Winter is finally coming down to its pleasantness, and in the fashion world, we are all geared up with the spring trends for 2017. Spring Summer Runway trends are bold and confident this year with metallic effects, bold lines and bright colours. Winter wear can get boring with the grey’s, blacks and blues. But you can break the monotony in your wardrobe by adding some vibrant accessories like a scarf, clutch, chunky bracelets, layered chains and more.

During this season when it’s chilly outside, I prefer adding a colourful or textured scarf to make the outfit fun. They are soft, warm and extremely cosy. Scarves are so versatile, and one can get them in all types of prints, colours and lengths. And the best bit is that there are endless ways one can wear them as. Replace it for a necklace or wear it as a headgear, a scarf is one of those things which can change your entire look.

You can layer it with your favourite jacket by tucking it inside the jacket and pairing it with your super skinny jeans and boots. If you are feeling lazy, then you can just toss it around your neck for a casual look. You can add contrasting colours by pairing a blue jacket with a vibrant red scarf, or you can play around with prints by adding a floral scarf over a solid-colored jumpsuit.

I created two looks from the scarves I got from Fatface. I love their scarves; they are great quality, soft and pretty. I paired a cable jumper in Ganache colour with dark blue jeggings also from Fatface with a brushed stripe mid-weight scarf. I draped the scarf around my shoulders for a casual look. This look is great when it’s cold outside. It’s oversized and thick, so it keeps me warm plus it’s super soft, so it feels great around your neck. I wore day-time smokey eyes with a lot of khol and a muted lipstick. You can even pair this scarf with a maxi dress. For a structured look wear a belt around your waist and drape the scarf around your shoulders for a day out.For my second look, I paired my two part floral spot snood scarf with my jumper and skinny jeans. This is a lightweight scarf which is stylish and perfect for spring. I wrapped the scarf around my neck in a double loop and kept it mid-length. In the double loop style, you loop the scarf twice around your neck and tie the loose ends under the loop for a structured look. You can see both the prints when you loop it like this; it keeps your hands free, it looks stylish plus it’s super easy.

I have intentionally kept the outfit the same, but you can see each scarf has made my outfit look different. Scarves can instantly change ones outfit and you don’t have to worry about wearing the same look again and again, as you play with textures and prints in scarves

Bold and Beautiful – Runway Makeup Inspiration

“Creativity is your best makeup skill, don’t be afraid to experiment”, words of the most influential makeup artist Pat McGrath are words every makeup artist must live by.

Known for her creativity, army of assistants and experimental bold looks, she is someone who has been creating the most iconic over the past decades. She is someone who has given the makeup world most ingenious makeup tricks like adding a white curve to the cupid’s bow to make your lips look fuller, applying lip liner before a lipstick and blotting lips with a tissue and dusting translucent powder for long lasting wear and more.

Inspired by the looks she has created over the years I collaborated with some experienced talents in London like Aarti Kumar, Arthy Really, Desiree By Natasha, Sejal Anujah Shah and Aarsim Official to create some experimental looks that are going to be trending this season.

I wanted to get bold this New Year with my look and get out of my comfort zone. You know the whole New Year New Me kind of a feeling. So I decided so get bold with my makeup with some products from Pat Mcgrath Labs. I was really happy with the bold and beautiful look created by Aarti Kumar. Aarti is a vibrant and talented makeup artist based in London who loves to play around and create unique looks for her clients. She specialises in Bridal makeup and enjoys experimenting with new products and techniques. The first look she created focused on the glitter red lips. I was looking for a playful red tint to match my embellished skirt and crop top. For the second outfit, I wanted a fierce and feisty look, hence, the golden eye shadow and the funky lines on the eyes. The makeup made me look like a lioness and the sleek high ponytail made the whole look more intense.

The makeup did justice to the elegant handcrafted outfits by Sejal Anujah Shah. This clothing brand brings the best of both the worlds with its contemporary designs. The sleeveless white crop top adds structure to the high waisted skirt with intricate zardozi work. It is an outfit which can be worn for a sangeet or a fancy work event, party, or any other celebration. The skirt and the top can easily be matched with other outfits in your closet to create everyday styles.

Cold shoulders are really in this season. The second outfit is a twist from the regular off-shoulder or cold shoulder trend. The asymmetrical one-shoulder top is a great addition to the party wardrobe. I paired the top with skinny black pants and black shoes. I let my top and the makeup be the hero of the entire look. You can even layer up the top with a funky jacket for evenings.

No outfit is complete without the right kind of accessories. My accessories were styled by DesireebyNatasha. Style Advice – Let’s Experiment, Let’s be Bold

I am someone who is addicted to black. It’s a colour that I end up picking out all the time. I feel comfortable, confident and chic in black. But over the past few days, I was just going through my wardrobe and realised that I have a lot of black in my wardrobe. Black has a lot of benefits, it makes you look slimmer, and it’s versatile, matches well with other colours, it perfect for any time of the day, you can jazz up the colour easily and more. But however flattering the colour maybe for many people, I believe it’s important to have some colour in your wardrobe and break the monotone of black from our life.

I am not banning you all from black. But there is something such as too much of a good thing. Many times people also term as black as boring or dull, especially when you wear it all the time. Adding colour to your wardrobe can get tricky at times. It is important to know which colour can work for your skin and then play with tones and create lots of new outfits. Colour is one of the elements which can instantly style up your look. But when picking out a colour its best to understand your skin tone to see what suits you the best.

If you have a warm skin tone i.e. you have greenish, yellowish or light brown skin then you should go for warm colours like olive, coral, honey, and beige. If you have a cool skin tone i.e. you have pink, blue or rosy skin then you should go for cool colours like lavender, grey, blue or rose. If you have a neutral skin with pale or grey shades, then you should wear colours like jade, red, white and medium blue. But there are some colours which look great on every skin tone. These include colours like teal, blush pink, dark purple, marsala and pure white.

When incorporating colour in your outfit, it is important to balance it out.

Here, I wanted my dress to be a statement piece, so I made sure the rest of my outfit was muted. I paired the wine hued dress with strappy black heels and a black bag. I also matched my lipstick to my outfit, rather than opting for a bright colour and keep the rest of my makeup simple with beachy waves.

I believe it’s important for us to experiment more with colours in our wardrobe, especially in corporate world. Sometimes, our work wardrobe is filled with boring neutrals like black, brown or navy blue. When working with people I’ve mostly seen that they have a monotone of one colour or lots of outfits in the same colour. But when we wear bright colours people remember us more than when we were the regular black. Incorporate some colour in your work wear by wearing a brightly coloured jacket with your formal black dress; offset your staple outfit by making the accessories the star by wearing bright-hued heels or a bag, step out in bright bottoms. Colour blocking is a new trend, use this technique by using black and shades of blue.

New Year Outfit Inspiration

New Year is all about a new beginning, moving forward, resolutions, dreams and hopes. But New Year also means party, time to celebrate the present and enjoy. I love the holiday season and love to end the year with a bang. I have always been enthusiastic about New Years Eve. Even as a kid, I loved to go to parties or gatherings. So every year I would look forward to my New Year plan with much excitement, I guess it was the shopping that got me most pumped up about the whole day. I would start looking for my outfit almost a month in advance.

Since New Year is something big for me, so is my dressing for the event. It’s such a glamorous event that I need my outfit to show my excitement. So for me sequins, sparkle or glitter in some form is a must. Also, it is apt for New Year since the parties are at night and everyone is dressed to impress. I prefer wearing bright colours over a usual black dress. You instantly stand out in the crowd with a little pop of colour.

So I guess by now you guys must have realised how excited I get about New Years. But I get even happier when I find the perfect outfit for this day. For years I have worn a dress more a less, so this year I wanted to wear something totally different and break the monotony. After hunting for an outfit for over 10-15 days I choose a lovely sequined top and a high-low skirt from Coast. It’s been a task for me to find this outfit since I’m a very selective person.

It’s a short capped sleeve sequined top in tones of blue and purple which teams up perfectly with the glamorous high-low skirt. Usually, if you purchase a fancy dress for New Year, then you don’t really get enough occasions to wear it again. But this outfit is extremely versatile. The top can be paired with jeans and even with lehenga or saree. I might do a fun post on this later. Just keep an eye out for this 🙂 and the skirt is so pretty that it will make a great addition to my cocktail wardrobe. I am pairing up the pieces with a silver clutch and silver high heels.

But if you are someone who doesn’t like to wear a sequined outfit then you can have some sparkle in your accessories like a clutch or hat. You can also pair a sequined mini skirt with a solid coloured blouse. Sequins can get tricky. To avoid looking like a shiny disco ball make sure that you don’t wear sequins from top to bottom. Let one item in your outfit be the hero.

Outfit Inspiration For Office During Winters

Mornings are the toughest, especially winter mornings. You don’t want to get out of your warm, cosy blanket and let alone decide what you need to wear to work in the freezing temperature. Choosing between fashion and warmth gets a little difficult and then you just end up wearing the same jacket for most of the season and hating your work wear which makes getting up in the morning even less motivating.If you want to know how not to dress boring for work, then check out my outfit inspiration for office wear this winter. I have created a classic professional look with a jacquard blazer and a silk blend top. I got the Kate Ponte Jacquard Blazer from Boden for my work wear wardrobe. It is a classic single-breasted jacket in navy blue with double pockets and a back split. The jacket is comfortable, stylish and has a good fabric. Plus navy blue is a basic colour which almost goes on everything, and since the fabric is thick, it is suitable for cold weather. This jacket is great for casual wear or work wear, depending on how to team it up. I teamed it up with a Ravello top from Boden as well. With pleated neckline and cap sleeves, this top is a relaxed and feminine piece. It works well with a tucked in look. I paired the top and the coat with skinny jeans and platform courts. You can also wear boots or heels. But I personally prefer platform shoes since they are more comfortable without comprising on the heel. For a formal look, you can even pair the coat and the top with a dark blue pencil skirt and heels.

Apart from this look, you can also think about blazers in warm fabrics like leather, velvet, or jacquard. Make your trousers more fun by going for jacquard or wool pants. They are warm, comfortable and stylish. Team them with your favourite cashmere sweater or a regular shirt and a long coat, and you are good to go. You don’t have to wear trousers or pants you can also go for a jacquard or knit dress and team it with leg warmers or slim pants. Shirt dresses or jumpers also look great with slim trousers. You can switch from your heels to ankle boots for more comfort during the harsh winters. If you want to dress up like a girl boss, then team up a silk blouse with a pencil skirt, knee high boots in suede with a knit scarf. Stick to sharp styles and mix and match different pieces in your wardrobe like a midi dress with a turtleneck sweater for a fashionable look. If you are going for a basic look in neutral shades, then you can add some statement accessories like a hat, bag or jewellery to make your outfit pop.

I wanted a casual everyday look so I didn’t tuck in my top. For a formal look you can even pair the coat with a tucked in blouse.

For my look I created soft waves and kept my makeup more natural looking with pink lips to match my outfit. Autumn is the season to try new clothes and mix and match styles with different layers. One of my favorite styles this season is trying some menswear as womenswear in outfits. I love this style because you can create multiple looks without investing a dime in your wardrobe. 😛 Over time such outfits have become a staple in my wardrobe. If you want to experiment with menswear then read on. Here are a few tips on how you can style an outfit from the male wardrobe in your house (be that from your dad’s, brother or partner’s.

I tried a casual look with my hubby’s office shirt (sorry dear hubby for that, but I haven’t spoiled it ;)). I knotted the shirt around my jeans, so that it doesn’t look oversized and I also rolled the cuff for a casual look. It is a structured outfit, for a more glamorous look you can even pair the outfit with statement heels. I prefer wearing flats whenever possible since they are more comfortable. But that’s just me.You can even style this outfit with skinny or crop jeans too, but I have put together this look by going for ripped jeans as I wanted a more casual Friday or a weekend look. If you want you can also button up and tuck in the shirt instead of knotting it up.

Have you ever faced any of those days where you have to meet your friends for a casual brunch and then head to the office for some work. Dressing up for such days can be a little tricky. You don’t want to look out of place at any of those occasions. So I styled an outfit which is perfect for a girl’s day out and office wear. This is a chic style which take can you from brunch to beyond.

I paired a black full sleeves blouse with a bow neck along with a classic pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a statement bag. Tuck it in with a plain black belt, and you are good to go for work. For a presentation or a meeting, you can also tie up your hair for a more formal look. For a brunch or a day out with your girls, you can keep it casual by keeping the blouse tucked out, throw on some basic makeup and style your hair in beachy waves. This outfit is also appropriate for autumn. There is some light breeze, and it gets a little cold by the evening, so the full sleeves and boots come in handy.The most important aspect of any outfit is comfort and he most comfortable thing about my outfit was the boots. Well you might think I am trying to sell the shoes here, but no that is what I said to my hubby dear after walking in London for more than 15 km in a day “I can wear these shoes all day long.”

Generally, for most shoes, you need to break into them to make them comfortable and avoid any shoe bites. The first few time you are bound to get some sores or bruises. But I honestly didn’t feel the need to swap, not with these new babies. Apart from this, for a casual style you can pair up the dress with sneakers. You can go for a solid shade like black or white or for printed styles. And for more formal look you can pair it up with heels, pumps or peep-toes as well.

Chanelling My Inner #BohoDiva

It’s that time of the year when the weather is perfect for experimenting with clothing. It’s not too hot, it’s not yet cold. And so, the Boho diva in me has been quite active these days, Naturally, I decided to write a post on how to fashion a chic bohemian look with effortless glamour. Also, with being in a 9 to 5 work mode all week long, when it comes to weekend I do love to wear free flowing, casual clothes so much more.
As you can see, I’m wearing a V-Neck rivet embellished tank top with simple blue denims and very little accessorising. My sandals are ghungaroo-embellished flats and bag, a printed tote. Even though nothing is too over-the-top bohemian really, the overall look is one of casual quirkiness that is rather charming.

The key to pulling off the boho look with class is to keep it simple yet edgy. Layering is always a good idea and so I wore a black sleeve-less tee under my light blue tank top. I have to mention here that this top is my go-to closet staple for days when I want to look good, but without going the whole nine yards of carefully putting together an outfit. My advice to anyone experimenting with the boho look is that you should keep it fuss-free yet unconventional. Don’t wear every piece of jewellery you can lay your hands on or something discomfortingly attention-grabbing. Focus on fashioning something unique with your regular clothes using colour-blocking, layering, accessorising and so on. Since there are no rules with this look, you can do any kind of makeup from a barely-there nude finish something bolder, brighter, more exciting. I chose to wear deep red lipstick and some minimal eye-makeup to keep the look fresh. And oh! I genuinely felt so carefree and wonderful in this outfit – my inner boho diva was completely alive and kicking!

Maximizing Style with Minimal Fuss: #OOTD Maxi by Myrah

With 2016 flying by at an unbelievable pace, autumn is here now and I couldn’t be more excited. This is a busy time for the fashion industry and a joyous treat for fashion mongers like me! And you know what the best part of this season is? The weather! It’s not too hot or too cold and you can wear all sorts of combinations, colours and textures; the options are endless!

But I do have some favourite styles I like to play around with at this time of the year. Maxis are my go-to outfit and this post is a tribute to the versatility and comfort they promise. Don on a maxi and all you need to think about is the styling. No worrying about looking fat or thin, feeling hot or cold, or being uncomfortable when going out for a long time.So when I was on a shopping spree sometime last month, and go this beautiful blue maxi from Myrah that you see me wearing in the picture. It appealed to me for it has an ethnic print in blue and cream and I simply love fusion outfits! I just had to buy it. And honestly, this isn’t my first purchase from Myrah so I knew the dress will not just be effortlessly stylish but also of great quality and price. In fact, I have a special liking for clothes by this brand for these very reasons and am quite a regular customer. In terms of styling, I chose to keep it simple since the maxi in itself is quite striking. I wore big silver earrings and platform heels, and added a rustic touch with my jute handbag.
