Say Hello to Spring in Style

Say Hello to Spring in Style

With the Spring-spun bonanza of merry sunshine, blooming flowers, and fresh fragrances comes an endless stream of sartorial inspiration. I love experimenting with trending Spring styles and try to incorporate my personal fashion preferences into every look. Here’s a list of my favourite Spring trends – read on for some Spring-fashion winners!

Frills Dress

Outfit Featured from Very.co.uk

The youthful vibrancy of frilly clothing is a perfect match to Spring-time merriment. Though some ladies avoid frilly clothing, fearing it may have them looking silly, if you style them right, rocking those frills is a cake walk. For my Spring frills look, I teamed up a black frilly dress with flat leather boots and statement earrings. The dark color of the dress and the minimalist accessorizing created an outfit that’s perfect for day outings as well as evening events. The final effect is cheery and youthful; perfectly reflecting the Spring season’s glory.

Jeans Jacket

Outfit Featured from Fatface.com

I love denim fabric and when in jacket-form, it’s even more delectable. Jeans jackets have made a comeback this season, and I’m loving it! You can wear jeans jackets as comfy accessories to dresses, jeans, shorts, and skirts. My go-to style is pairing a sleeveless jeans jacket with a printed dress or skirt to add depth to the outfit. The contrast of uber-feminine clothes with rugged denim accessories is bold, beautiful, and great for the inner-boho-diva in you.

Culottes

Culottes are Spring-fashion’s favourite child. They never go out of fashion and re-invent themselves year after year. Casual and comfy, culottes are a great option for daytime outings and informal evening dos. You can go in for printed or embroidered culottes for charming, feminine ensemble. For a more bold, androgynous look, go in for dark-hued, plain or striped pieces. Pair them with fitted tops for a morning outing and jumpers/jackets for evening-wear.

Star Print

Outfit Featured from Hush-uk.com

Floral motifs are Spring staples, but this year, the stars have taken over! The star print is trending and I’m all for it. In my starry look, I’m sporting a grey jumper with a huge star applique on the front. But there’s are loads of other options to choose from. Small-starry prints are great for flowy dresses and strappy blouses. Mid-sized colourful prints are great for quirky top and bottom wear. Large or single-print stars (like the one on my jumper) create a striking yet casual statement effortlessly. So find your kind of star print and have some fun with it!

Jeans with Statement Lining

Jeans from Hush-Uk.com

One would think that innovating with jeans is something of a lost cause. Everything’s been done, from funky colours and cuts, to embellishments and rips. But there’s a new trend brewing and it’s statement lining. The lining on jeans’ sides have become head-turning stylistics this Spring season. I’m wearing a pair with darkened and chafed lining for a casual, chic look. I’ve spotted several other interesting statement lining styles too. Beaded, pearl lining looks wonderful, as do embroidered and sequined linings. I’m sure to pick up some more denim with statement lining soon. What about you?

Floral Headbands

In the accessories department, one of the fascinating trends is of the floral headband. While a few years, floral motifs were a go-to for Spring clothes, shoes, and bags, they’re now oft used in hair accessories too. Floral headbands are a feminine quick-fix for any outfit. Yes, they’re not the easiest to pull off, but channel your inner princess and you’re good to go. I’ve worn floral headbands to daytime outings such as brunches and picnic. But you could also experiment with them as party accessories.

Belted Suits

If you’re wondering about some desi trends for this Spring season, I feel belted suits are quite charming. Blending a traditional style with western stylistics perfectly captures the essence of the modern woman. Team up a classic leather belt with a floor-length kurta and watch the magic happen! This fusion look is sure to win you many compliments, as it did for me. I wore a brown twisted-leather belt with a blue, printed kurta and matching dupatta. The brilliant sunshine and noontime beauty was the perfect accessory to my elegant belted suit.

Statement Jackets

Jackets are a great accessory all year ‘round. But wear them in Spring season and you’re bound to invite a lot of attention. I prefer to wear jackets that are off-beat in their stylistics – that makes you stand out from the crowd. I have a whole section of my wardrobe just for jackets and have put them to good use to beat the Spring-time chills. I’ve enjoyed wearing long printed jackets, short embroidered ones, and also some sleeveless styles. The point is to use jackets as elegant accessories to an otherwise simple ensemble. Yes, they bring the jazz to the outfit!

Crop Tops

Crop tops have arrived in a big, big way. They have been topping the chic charts since last year and Spring is just the time to whip them out. Ending just below the abdomen, allowing scintillating peeks at the midriff, crop tops can be fashioned to suit all kinds of looks for almost any occasion. Since summer has not hit us yet, I’ve been wearing longer crop-tops that do not expose the belly yet. They look great with jeans and skirts, and effortlessly stylish no matter what the occasion is.

Floral Prints

This is most certainly a no-brainer. Spring fashion and florals are a match made in heaven. Floral prints are one of those classic styles that I never want to shun. I love the delicate femininity that such motifs bring out in all kinds of clothing. While wearing floral tops, bottoms, and dresses, is rather familiar, if you want to experiment, go ahead and put on some floral accessories. Wear floral scarves, jackets, or even socks. You could also sport handbags, clutches, and hats with floral prints, to try something new. Simply put, if it’s springtime, you can’t go wrong with floral prints.

Statement Shoes

Nothing says fashion-forward like a pair of well-crafted shoes. If you want to make a statement with your Spring attire, make sure to stock up on some beautiful statement pieces that are hard to miss. I’ve got myself a pair of floral-print sneakers which perfectly complement my casual outfits. I’ve also been wearing a pair of silver brogues quite often, on account of their versatility. They go with casual as well as formal outfits and are quite the eyeball grabber, I must say. If you, too, want to Spring to be a fashion feast for you, do stock up on some statement shoes this season. You’ll not regret it!

So, here I’ve listed out my most favoured Spring trends. How about you lovely ladies? What have you been wearing in Spring 2018? Do share!

London Fashion Week AW18 in review

Fashion weeks lasts forever. Such is the impact of London Fashion Week. Though it is for a week or so, but one can reminisce it for longer period of time.

Undoubtedly, the biggest event in the fashion calendar of the UK. And once again, London Fashion week went over like rainbow this year. Let’s have a look at the high points of LFW AW18, a few designers whose contribution made the week even bigger and better.

Christopher Bailey, Burberry’s president and chief creative officer said goodbye to Burberry after 17 years

This year the brand caught the eye again. The reason, however, was something different. Reason being it was Christopher Bailey’s Last Burberry Show. Every celebrity showed up for his last show. The whole crowd was notably star-studded. Burberry created a capsule of reissued pieces from the Eighties and Nineties. The brand is now also selling its Rainbow Check collection, as part of an initiative to support charities that help LGBTQ, in store now.

Ashish’s glittery London Fashion Week

Ashish showed his latest collection at London Fashion Week, and the highlights from the show were Glitter because, yes, there was a whole lot of glitter. Ashish’s inspirations this year were predictably unpredictable. He actually took his inspiration from the swinging Sixties, and his set was designed similar to that of a bazaar.

To adhere to the theme, many of his models stomped the catwalk holding plastic bags. There were very little things on the runway that didn’t sparkle. Many of the clothes were candy-striped in shimmering colours of the rainbow. Other items just had hints of glitter – like the embellished denim jacket, also multi-coloured trousers and jumpsuits with fringed sparkles.

Mulberry staged its first see-now-buy-now show at Spencer House, Princess Diana’s ancestral London home

The spring collection took in a patisserie palette, with pink satin ruffle skirts, linen suits with long. There were delicate printed dressed too in the collection. Mulberry celebrated the best of British style. The collection itself took its hint from English eccentricity. Models on the ramp wore ruffled ballet-inspired pumps with round fluted heels made an attempt in recalling China collection that one might expect to find in a grand British country house. Some even came draped with multicoloured gemstones. This year the see-now-buy-now show also marked a break from convention for Mulberry.

Some glamour from Temperley

This season, Temperley was highly inspired by the first female aviators, and the whole collection had a romantic, vintage feel to it. Temperley’s catwalk included military combats, stylish cropped trousers and a flattering cinched-in waist, and all-over sequined party frocks. The ramp was also highlighted with some perfect party outfits. Flowing bias cut dresses with a thigh-high front slit, sheer nude dresses, one kimono-wrap jumpsuit. the dresses provided strong scenery to the brand.

J.W. Anderson: One magical mix: Men’s, women’s and pre-collection all together on the runway for the first time

After 10 years, Northern-Irish designer Jonathan Anderson switched things up and presented both his menswear and womenswear collections at the same time in his very first mixed-gender format.

Their collection had a modest, naive feel to it including long, drop-waist dresses, swingy handkerchief hemlines, crinkled or pleated fabrics, ruffle details and light, fluttery layers done in an original J.W. pattern of yore, or in baby blue or pink. It was a big collection of knits, some edged with thick fringes, and others with fat doughnut shapes at the wrist and edges. The designer clearly chose to have fun with clothes and undoubtedly charmed the whole collection.

Winter Jumper Outfit Inspiration

Winter might be ending soon, but the nip in the air is still making it the perfect weather to adorn some cool bright jumpers in style. In particular, I am an avid fan of jumpers, because they are one of the most versatile pieces to style, and can easily be dressed up or down to suit the occasion. This winter, I decided to push the boundaries and play around with some fun and new ways to style a jumper.

The first look is not as much about how you style the jumper as it is about what type of jumper you select. In gloomy weather, it is instinctive to turn to a darker palette of navy blue, black and grey, but I urge you to try something different – perhaps, a pop of colour to brighten up the day? For this look, I brightened up good old jeans and black t-shirt combination with a vibrant yellow jumper from SheIn.

The chunky, oversized style of the jumper gave the ensemble an effortlessly stylish feel, and I finished it off with a bright pink scarf to cut through the yellow and tie the look together. The rest of my look – shoes, accessories and makeup – was kept purposefully simple. I wanted the colour palette to do the talking. And it did.

Shein – Drop Shoulder Lantern Sleeve Slit Textured Cardigan

Usually, when the winter rolls around, we pack away our summer staples and push them to the back of our closet, only to bring them out again when the cold weather is truly behind us.

For my second look, I started to think about how I might incorporate a summer staple into a winter ensemble – layering was my answer! I threw on one of my favourite summer dresses – a beautiful yellow piece with a gorgeous floral print – over a pair of trusty blue jeans. But there was no way I could step out onto the street with my arms bare in this freezing weather!

And so, I slipped into a cosy jumper, which finished off the look in style. I deliberately chose a more muted maroon shade with a very simple pattern, so that the jumper would not clash with the summer dress I was sporting below it. Not only does this look make a great style statement; it also enables you to mix and match for new outfits, without breaking the bank.

Shein – Boat Neck Striped Knitwear

If colours are not your cup of tea, that’s completely alright. You can still sport a neutral, even monochrome, outfit without looking boring. The trick is to play around with textures.

For my final look, I chose a grey colour palette – but wanted to create a look that was still exciting, with the jumper as the star attraction. So I opted for a grey jumper with a bold start print and paired it with a textured skirt, sheer stockings, a grey felt hat and my trusty booties.

Although most of the items were grey, their different shades and textures gave the outfit some extra oomph. I love a good pop of colour so I finished the look off with a vibrant handbag, but you could easily sport a chic leather bucket bag or tote instead.

Shein – Star Pattern Boat Neck Sweater

The next time you wear a jumper, think of it as a central part of your outfit rather than something that is obscuring it. Play around with prints, colours, sizes and textures – the possibilities are endless!

Need New Year’s Party Outfit inspo

December is the most wonderful time of the year. It’s like the FRIDAY for the full month, filled with parties beginning from Christmas to New Year. It’s that time of the year again where we gather all our finest outfits from our wardrobe. Out with the boring winter hues and in with the inner disco diva.

Christmas is too sparkly said no one ever!  I love adding some sparkle to my Christmas and New Year outfit. Each year I start hunting for my perfect holiday outfit for over a month. This year has been no different. A ton of shopping cardio session I have found my perfect dress for this holiday season. With a little bit of sparkle and a lot of style, I am all geared up for the party month.

This party season make sure to get your holiday dressing on point. A classic little black dress is a safe option but who says that it has to be plain Jane style? Give the staple outfit a fashionable twist with some lace or shimmer detailing. Add some feathers or embellishments to make your outfit stand out. Feeling bold? Go for a smoking velvet black suit for a refreshing twist. I picked out a LBD with a twist for this season.

The Arabesque Dress from Coast is eye-catching limited edition collaboration with The Royal Ballet. This feather printed asymmetrical dress is designed to turn heads at any event you attend. The fitted bodice and sweeping high low skirt make me feel like a ballerina floating on the runway. This fall-winter has been all about prints. The Arabesque Dress takes this trend into the holiday season with a stunning dress that’s festive and timeless in its own way.

I paired this dress with a glamorous Jamie Sparkle Necklace and Ivy Longline Earrings from Coast. The timeless design and the sparkling crystals are perfect for dressing up the V-neck line of the Arabesque Dress. The sparkling zirconia leaves channel the inner diva in you and matches perfectly well with the feather print pattern on the dress.

As you know I am a huge fan of some sequins, shimmer or sparkle when it comes to holiday dressing. This year I decided to add a glitzy touch to my outfit with a Myra Glitter Clutch Bag. It’s a statement piece with glitter ombre effect. The envelope bag comes with a detachable chain strap, so it can be worn as a sling bag or can be held in your hand and ended up adding a little more sparkle to my outfit by matching my Glitter Clutch with silver statement heels.

Winter Dressing with Fatface

Florals, funky prints and vibrant colours take centre stage for the summer wardrobe. Gray’s, black and blues become our dreaded winter style. This makes the winter wardrobe very monotonous. With winter truly here in London, my warm bed and the fireplace has become a very difficult place to leave, especially when you hate the idea of dressing up in lumpy and oversized sweaters.  This winter makes your winter style effortless and fun by adding some chic pieces to your wardrobe.

Outfit Details:

Winter wear doesn’t have to be boring. You can add a ton of colour, layers and textures to amp up your outfit. I put together an effortlessly chic outfit this season with FatFace. I threw on a Poppy short puffer jackets with charcoal grey five pocket jeggings and colour block jumper.

The puffer jacket is a thick jacket with a super soft detachable Borg collar. This cosy jacket is perfect for when the temperature starts to drop. Jeggings are a chic alternative to your jeans this winter. The slim fit jeggings are easy to wear and come in stylish shades like charcoal and amethyst. I added a pop of colour to my outfit with the cashmere colour block jumper in grey and pink. The jumper is unbelievably soft with a relaxed fit which makes it easier to layer with any piece of clothing in your wardrobe. Another essential element in your winter wardrobe is boots. I finished my outfit with beautiful Oake Heel Ankle Boots in Navy. The ankle boots are made of luxurious nubuck leather and a chunky wooden heel. You can effortlessly pop these over your favourite pair of skinny jeans or jeggings and strut around the town in style.

I love warm and deep tones in my winter wardrobe. One of my favourite shades this winter is mauve. Get cosy this winter with a casual dress from FatFace.
