Chanelling My Inner #BohoDiva

It’s that time of the year when the weather is perfect for experimenting with clothing. It’s not too hot, it’s not yet cold. And so, the Boho diva in me has been quite active these days, Naturally, I decided to write a post on how to fashion a chic bohemian look with effortless glamour. Also, with being in a 9 to 5 work mode all week long, when it comes to weekend I do love to wear free flowing, casual clothes so much more.
boho-diva-zaful-1 boho-diva-zaful-2 boho-diva-zaful-3As you can see, I’m wearing a V-Neck rivet embellished tank top with simple blue denims and very little accessorising. My sandals are ghungaroo-embellished flats and bag, a printed tote. Even though nothing is too over-the-top bohemian really, the overall look is one of casual quirkiness that is rather charming.

The key to pulling off the boho look with class is to keep it simple yet edgy. Layering is always a good idea and so I wore a black sleeve-less tee under my light blue tank top. I have to mention here that this top is my go-to closet staple for days when I want to look good, but without going the whole nine yards of carefully putting together an outfit. I was lucky to have found it on www.zaful.com quite by chance while browsing the web late one night. Incidentally, Zaful’s collection is quite trendy and affordable, alongside being of great quality. I have been purchasing their creations ever since I bought this top and simply love the prompt and efficient delivery service they offer.
boho-diva-zaful-4So I teamed my favourite Zalful top with a pair of plain denims to avoid going overboard with the bohemianism. Instead of wearing very striking clothes, I carried a statement bag, wore some bangles and bracelets, and put on a pair of funky shoes. The idea was to look like I had just thrown on whatever was within easy reach in my closet and still look fashionable.

My advice to anyone experimenting with the boho look is that you should keep it fuss-free yet unconventional. Don’t wear every piece of jewellery you can lay your hands on or something discomfortingly attention-grabbing. Focus on fashioning something unique with your regular clothes using colour-blocking, layering, accessorising and so on. Since there are no rules with this look, you can do any kind of makeup from a barely-there nude finish something bolder, brighter, more exciting. I chose to wear deep red lipstick and some minimal eye-makeup to keep the look fresh. And oh! I genuinely felt so carefree and wonderful in this outfit – my inner boho diva was completely alive and kicking!

My London Fashion Week Outfit 1-Tessuti Haul #AutumnFeels

I hope you’re enjoying the lovely autumn weather as much as I am. Don’t you just love the colours – these hues of brown, yellow and orange all around us? I just can’t get enough of them! In fact, much of my autumn wardrobe is inspired by these warm, beautiful shades that look good on everyone. Currently I am enjoying the buzz with London Fashion Week and here is a sneak peek into one of many outfits I have worn during the LFW this season.
1-tessuti-michaelkors-handbag-1In honour of my love for the orange palette, I decided to write a post on a classic autumn ensemble which celebrates orangey hues. As you can see in the picture, I have teamed a deep orange top with cropped white jeans. A pair of white flats with cut-work detailing and white Michael Kors tote complete my ensemble. The outfit creates a chic, casual look which is great for daytime and evening outings. The makeup, though subtle, has a pop of colour on the lips, which adds a dose of glamour to the overall look.

Maximizing Style with Minimal Fuss: #OOTD Maxi by Myrah

With 2016 flying by at an unbelievable pace, autumn is here now and I couldn’t be more excited. This is a busy time for the fashion industry and a joyous treat for fashion mongers like me! And you know what the best part of this season is? The weather! It’s not too hot or too cold and you can wear all sorts of combinations, colours and textures; the options are endless!myrah-maxi-dress-3

But I do have some favourite styles I like to play around with at this time of the year. Maxis are my go-to outfit and this post is a tribute to the versatility and comfort they promise. Don on a maxi and all you need to think about is the styling. No worrying about looking fat or thin, feeling hot or cold, or being uncomfortable when going out for a long time.myrah-maxi-dress-4So when I was on a shopping spree sometime last month, and go this beautiful blue maxi from Myrah that you see me wearing in the picture. It appealed to me for it has an ethnic print in blue and cream and I simply love fusion outfits! I just had to buy it. And honestly, this isn’t my first purchase from Myrah so I knew the dress will not just be effortlessly stylish but also of great quality and price. In fact, I have a special liking for clothes by this brand for these very reasons and am quite a regular customer.myrah-maxi-dress-5 In terms of styling, I chose to keep it simple since the maxi in itself is quite striking. I wore big silver earrings and platform heels, and added a rustic touch with my jute handbag. The makeup was also subtle, though not bland. The aim was to let this Myrah beauty work its charm and grab all attention while I could keep the accessorizing and makeup minimal. And it worked! I got just so many compliments for this ensemble!

And this is what I love about maxis – they are glamorous without trying! And they look flattering on everyone, regardless of their body type. Moreover, you can wear them on all kinds of occasions – casual outings as well as semi-formal or formal events. I tend to pick maxis for day-wear when going out for brunch, picnics and shopping. I can already feel that the autumn weather is going to have me wanting more such outfits in my closet. Maybe I’ll buy a couple more from Myrah. Ah, that sounds nice!

OOTD – Chic and Fashionable Off Shoulder Blouse

The off shoulder style is one of the biggest spring fashion trends this season. From dresses to tops to jumpsuits off shoulder styles are there everywhere. Off shoulder tops are one of the most versatile options that one can have in their wardrobe. You can play around with it and dress it up or play it down with your accessories. They are super cute and work for everyone. I also find them to be sexy in a sophisticated manner since you show a little skin strategically.
Off-ShoulderI am sport a navy blue lacy off shoulder top with white capri’s. The top are intricate floral lace and ruffle on top. I wanted a super casual look so I opted for bare minimum accessories. I wore brown sandals, studs for earrings and a bracelet. Since I was going for a casual look I went for natural and subtle makeup as well. I paired my outfit with a pink lipstick and some blush.Off-Shoulder-3There are several ways one can carry off the off shoulder trend. For a super casual look for can pair an off shoulder top with boyfriend jeans and a pair of slip on shoes or pair it with an A-line midi skirt for a vintage look.

Off shoulder tops come in various shapes and sizes you can sport a spaghetti strapped off shoulder dress with skinny ripped jeans, sandals and a long necklace for a super stylish look. For a boho look or when attending a music concert you can sport an off shoulder crop top, choker, bunch of bracelets, printed shorts, boots and a fancy hat.
Off-Shoulder-4Off shoulder can also be worn to work. You can layer an off-the-shoulder top over a blouse with trousers. You can tie your hair in a sleek ponytail or a bun. If you have a meeting then you can throw on a blazer over your off shoulder top and keep your face makeup free. For a bold look you can pair a solid colored off shoulder top with printed pants for a cool look. If you are a fan of flared jeans you can wear it with a loose off shoulder top, multi layered necklace and wedges for a retro look. You can also make a regular tee into an off shoulder top by tying it on one end and letting the opposite side fall down your arm.Off-Shoulder-5

Adding Oomph To The Ordinary With Classy Contemporary Jewellery – #OOTD

A couple of days ago, I was feeling extremely lazy. I had a casual outing planned for the day but found myself lacking the desire to dress up! Now that is a rare occurrence in my life, but I guess everyone is allowed one of those days. Sometimes you just want to wear the first thing that falls onto you when you open your overstuffed wardrobe. And that’s okay, as long as you have some tricks up your sleeve.Deevara (7)Deevara (8) On such days, keeping your look simple is the way to go. But you’ll probably object that lazy or not, you always need a little bit of jazz. After all, you are a trendy diva, aren’t you? Ordinary turnout is not your thing. Neither is it mine. So I arranged a quick-fix that would turn my plain, comfy outfit into statement attire which screams “casual chic”. I put on some classy fashion jewellery and immediately, I felt and looked so much better!
Deevara (2)Deevara (9)And that’s when I decided; I must do a post on how to glamorize simple attire using classy, contemporary jewellery. As you can see, I’m wearing a pair of fitted, basic blue jeans by Next and a striped blue-and-black kaftan top by COs Stores. I wore string sandals to match my informal clothing and stayed away from all accessories other than some light jewellery.
Deevara (6)Deevara (5)The pieces I am wearing – the beaded necklace, the charm bracelet and the statement rings – are all by an up and coming brand Deevara Jewels. I first encountered their collection at the Bollygoods Show this year and was instantly captivated. You see, even though the brand makes only contemporary fashion jewellery, there is something very elegant and exclusive about it. It doesn’t look like junk jewellery you bought off the streets – it is beautiful and subtle and very fashionable!
Deevara (10)The red and white beads of the necklace offer a contrast to the black and blue beneath. Since the top has a boat-neck hemline, it’s perfectly suited for a long neckpiece. The silver bracelet too went well with the colour scheme. The delicate charms and multiple wrap-around strings make my wrist look more dainty. Both statement rings have a chunky stone set in German silver. This adds a wee bit of rustic appeal to the otherwise uber-modern outfit.
Deevara (3)And this is what I love about Deevara Jewels’ – their unique approach to jewellery design. Their pieces are a fusion of classic aesthetics and contemporary stylistics. They bring something new to the table and that, to me, is very alluring. They use semi-precious stones for creating Indo-fusion jewellery that is spectacular yet affordable. Currently based out of Denham, Deevara’s collection can be accessed through their Facebook Page and Instagram accounts. I’m adding the links so may check them out too!

Do you see what I did here though? My final “lazy day look” isn’t bare and boring at all. This is because I used jewellery intelligently to boost the trendiness of the ensemble. Do you have any such quick fixes and fashion hacks to share? Comment and reveal!

Outfit Post – Oversized Blouse with Crop Trousers with Key Jewellery Pieces

I have always had a soft spot for eclectic and sophisticated jewellery. I fiercely believe that your baubles can make or break your outfit, and that the right type of jewellery has the power to elevate a good outfit to ‘#goals’ status.

Recently, I was trying to put a carefree yet on-trend look together – something that was perfect for easy weekends, but also scored high in terms of style. I started by working with a pair of black cropped trousers. This silhouette has been all over the runway and streets for the last few months, and I really wanted to experiment with it.

Lily-and-Rose-Jewellery-4

I’ve realised that when it comes to sporting cropped trousers like a superstar, a good pair of heels can do wonders for the look. I chose to pair my trousers with peep-toe, block heel boots – the ultimate statement footwear. Finally, I threw on an oversized blouse.

Lily-and-Rose-Jewellery-3
to ramp up the cool but casual vibes and balance out the proportions of my look. I am head-over-heels in love with the beautiful powder blue shade of this top. Aren’t you?

Lily-and-Rose-Jewellery-8

Once I had my ensemble in place, I started to think about the finishing touches –namely, jewellery. I brought out a gorgeous turquoise bracelet and matching pendant. The blue stones from the jewellery accentuated the blue of my blouse, and brought the look together perfectly. However; I don’t like to go over-the-top with matching. Over the years, I have learned that you don’t have to coordinate every single detail of your dress and accessories to perfection. In fact, you probably shouldn’t, because too much matching can easily become overkill. I much prefer to break the monotony and experiment with bold pieces that make a strong style statement in their own right.

Lily-and-Rose-Jewellery-5

So, that’s exactly what I did! I finished off the look with a pair of statement earrings that ended up becoming the highlight of my outfit. It just goes to show that a little bit of bijou can go a long way!

In the outfit above I have used the jewellery collection from Lily & Rose.

How The French Do It

I spent the last weekend flipping through some fashion magazines when I realized something – there is nothing as elegant and classy as the French fashion sensibility. It’s not for no reason that Paris is considered the Fashion Capital of the World – there is something about French stylistics that is truly exclusive, unique and lovely.

French-Fashion-Styling-Outfit-4

And here’s what that is – minimalism. The French fashion mantra is to keep your look clean. That’s not the same thing as going in for simple, classic clothing. Minimalism is about making your clothes the heart of your ensemble, having very few accessories and letting the makeup be subtle. And personally, I’m all for such styling. Which is why, I decided to put together a look featuring an outfit by French brand Turbowear and you can see the outcome for yourself.

French-Fashion-Styling-Outfit-5

The dress is a flowy, A-lined number made of cotton jersey and net. It has geometric patterns, cutwork neck and nape detailing and deep, summery shades. I live the slight net border at the hem of the skirt which gives a huge edge to this outfit. I believe one can never go wrong with French Styling be it any occasion.

French-Styling-Outfit-Post

To highlight the outfit, I wore nothing more than small pearl earrings and a black pearl bracelet. I chose a pair of open-toed mid-heeled sandals, which added a delicate, feminine touch to the look. I carried along a yellow crossbody bag which complemented the yellow in the dress – you do need a roomy carryall for a day out with friends for sure. For an evening do, I would have taken a simple black clutch instead.

I also did carry a light jacket with me, but that was more for functional purposes – it tends to get chilly here in the evening during Spring.

French-Fashion-Styling-Outfit-3

Since I kept the accessorising minimal, the cut outs in the neck and nape area of the dress – which add so much oomph to the outfit by showing skin in a coy way – got highlighted well. Had I added afew more accessories, this statement dress would’ve lost its charm. I realized that such French styling is perfect for days when I don’t want to be bothered with accessorising and heavy makeup. I could then even wear such a dress to office, though only if paired with a black blazer and block heels for a more formal look of course.French-Fashion-Styling-Outfit-2

I like that this dress has that versatile quality – even though it’s light and summery, it can be worn for formal occasions if styled intelligently. And versatile clothing is the forte of Turbowear. They make beautiful outfits using edgy accents and unique detailing, which tends to draw much attention in fashion-friendly crowds. You can visit their collection at the website : http://www.turbowearshop.fr/

I can see myself wearing quite a few items from their collection. What about you? Feel like experimenting with the minimalist look? Do share your thoughts…

London Fashion Week AW16 – Outfit Details #OOTD

Finally, the wait is over and I am incredibly excited to share my London Fashion Week outfits with all of you.

This year’s, London Fashion Week was held from the 19th to the 23rd of February and I attended the first three days. Needless to say, it was an extremely busy weekend, filled with several fashion shows and a lot of travelling across London, but it was totally worth it!London Fashion Week Day 2 - AW16 6As always, February is a very cold month in London and it was much more windy that I had anticipated (you will see what I mean as you see my #ootd pictures!) so it was important that I stay fashionable and cosy.

Day 1

The first day of London Fashion Week was pleasant, but breezy. I attended a special movie screening at the 20th Century Fox Studio in Soho as well, which made it a very long day, but that is nothing new for a Friday night in London is it, apologies I was so busy the first day running around, I actually missed taking lots of pics of my outfit, so typical of me TBH and the one below is the one from my iPhone courtesy a nice friendly person at one of the events. You can find all the outfit details below to see what I wore this day.London Fashion Week Day 1 -AW16Outfit details:

Day 2London Fashion Week Day 2 - AW16 5Having been more fashion conscious than practical and walking around in heels on the first day of London Fashion Week, I was ready to give my aching feet a well-deserved rest. I was so glad that I had remembered to pack my flat Aldo shoes! I always make sure that I pack at least one pair of flat shoes when I travel, especially when I am going to be on my feet all day long. London is all about walking, whenever I travel to London I love taking lazy strolls around, its such a place that you never grow out of it. The day started out rather pleasant, but ended with buckets on rain. In fact, I had to duck into a hotel for lunch to simply find some cover. London Fashion Week Day 2 - AW16 4London Fashion Week Day 2 - AW16

But overall a good day with lots of running around in rain and attending shows. But you know what however busy I am, I will always find time to take a coffee break. I am addicted to coffee trying to reduce my intake but you know what I love it still. Below is a pic from my stop to Nero!London Fashion Week Day 2 - AW16 - 2 7Outfit Details

My final day in London had arrived, but I have no doubt that I will be back soon! The day started out rather cold, or at least, I felt that way, so I slipped into a big jacket to stay cosy. I was really happy that the weather warmed up later in the day, and as the sun came out, I found myself in my groove and having fun as usual.London Fashion Week Day 3 - AW16 - 6London Fashion Week Day 3 - AW16 - 2We visited the London Bridge, Westminster Abbey and finally, Tate Britain. Strolling around the galleries is definitely one of my favourite things to do in London. This day definitely reminded me of my love for London – it is one of my favourite cities in the world and a place where I truly feel at home.
