Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio, London Shopping Experience

I visited the Pernia’s Pop-Up studio, London to try some outfits, and it is a one-stop-shop for all the wedding and Indian wear shopping.

Shopping is always fun, but nothing is more exciting than Indian bridal shopping. And what makes bridal shopping even more exciting is finding everything one needs from outfits to jewellery in one place. All the Asians settled in the UK will agree with me that shopping for Indian wear is a bit tricky here as there are not a lot of good options. One has to do a lot of research and go from shop to shop to find everything they need. I recently visited the multi-designer Pernia’s Pop-Up studio in London to try some outfits, and I am happy to report that our search is over. Located in London’s luxury shopping district, Mayfair, Pernia’s Pop-Up studio is home to some of the leading Indian designers. This is Pernia’s first international store and they have a beautiful collection of outfits to choose from. No matter what someone is looking for, there is something for everyone. With gorgeous lehengas, elegant anarkalis, chic indo-western pieces, and stunning accessories, Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio is a traditional wear heaven for all the would-be brides and fashion lovers out there.

The thing that I love the most about the collection is that it’s not just limited to heavier pieces, there are light outfits as well, that is ideal for smaller functions or evening parties. The collection is carefully selected and there is a perfect combination of pretty prints and edgy embroideries.

Some of the designers available at the studio are Payal Singhal, Anita Dongre, Masaba, Abu Sandeep, Kalista, Aisha Rao, Yashodhara, Seema Gujral, Nupur Kanoi, Anushree Reddy, Tarun Tahilani, and more. Women’s clothing is not the only thing they have, there are great options for men as well. So, the grooms get to have some fun too.

Pernia’s has an online store too, but I think being at a physical store is an entirely different experience. One gets to look at the outfits, see what they like the best, and then make an informed decision to buy them. There is a beautiful trial room at the studio, where one can try on the outfits. They have jewellery, footwear, and clutches too, so it’s easy to see what the final look will look like after adding all the accessories. In my opinion, it’s always a good idea to try and buy heavy Indian outfits, as they are an investment and we wouldn’t want to go wrong with those.

Designer Aisha Rao

They offer fitting services as well and there is also an option to get an outfit customised as per our preference. If we like something and want it in a different size, colour, or style, we can order and if it’s doable, they’ll get it made. I think it’s amazing to have a specially made designer outfit in our wardrobe.

I had a great time at Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio and it lived up to my expectations. I loved the collection and was so mesmerized by the outfits. Whenever I have to shop for Indian wear next, I am going to buy it from them. How to Style Culottes

Culottes look really good and when paired with right pieces, they are perfect for almost every occasion. Here is how I like to style them.

Culottes, a pair of clothing that looks really good but can be a little tricky to style. When paired with the right pieces, it is perfect to wear for brunches and even for formal events. The first step for creating awesome culottes looks is to choose the type of culottes that will flatter your body type. Once you have found that perfect culottes, you are halfway there.

To be true, I wasn’t always the biggest fan of culottes, as I thought they make you look short and bulky. But now that I have figured out how to style one, you’ll see me wearing them often on my Instagram.  Here is how I like to style my culottes to get fun, comfy outfits. Find more styling blogs here.

1.       With a Crop Top

A crop top and culottes according to me are made for each. The ease with which you can style these two together to get a flirty outfit is amazing. Whenever you are struggling to find an outfit for a last minute plan, just throw on a crop top and culottes and you are good to go. You can rock this outfit for a movie date with bae.

2.       With a Solid T-Shirt

A solid t-shirt is a must have in your wardrobe as it looks perfect with almost everything and culottes are no exception. The simplicity of the t-shirt and silhouette of the culottes balance each other out to give you a perfect casual daytime outfit. Always make sure that you tuck your t-shirt in the culottes to bring attention to your curves and highlight them.

3.       With a Jumper

This look is for the days when the weather starts to get a bit chilly, but you still want to look stylish. Take out your favourite jumper and pair it with your culottes to get an amazing casual look. To complete your look, you can either add pumps or a nice pair of wedges. You can even use a sweater instead of a jumper for this look.

4.       With a Jacket

Layering is always fun, and that is what this look is all about. Wear your culottes with a basic top and then throw on a jacket on top to jazz up your entire look. You can pick any type of jacket you like. For a casual look you can go for a bomber jacket and for a more put together look, choose a semi-formal jacket or a blazer.

5.       With a Printed Shirt

A printed shirt makes quite a statement on its own, but when you pair it with culottes it looks even more charming. This easy-breezy outfit is ideal for a day out, as it has the perfect balance of casual and chic. You can complete your look with a sling bag and a nice pair of sandals or wedges.

I think this one is the most experimental out of all looks and that’s why I have saved it for the last. For this look all you have to do is pair that versatile shirt dress with your culottes and there you have it an awesome outfit for lunch or your shopping spree. You can even add a chunky silver necklace to elevate the look.

I have always been a fan of scarf as an accessory and I love experimenting with it. Here is how I love to style it with my outfits.

If given a choice to choose just one fashion accessory to add some twist to my outfits, I would without a doubt pick a nice scarf. And the reason is simple, because it’s an evergreen, versatile accessory that can be worn on almost every occasion and can be styled in a number of ways.

No matter what size you are, a scarf never discriminates and looks good no matter how you wear it. I have been a fan of this amazing accessory since my high school days and over the years; I have discovered new, interesting ways to use a it to jazz up my outfits. The reason why I love a white shirt so much is, because you can easily dress it up or down according to the occasion and it will look elegant. You can even wear it with your PJs and I bet you’ll look fantastic. No matter what time of the day it is, a white shirt comes in handy for me when I am struggling to find an outfit to wear. If I knew of this top over slip dress trick a little earlier, I would have totally rocked so many of my last minute outfits. Toc Watch New Collection Feature – Ulysses

As a fashion enthusiast, accessorizing well has always been very important to me. And watches rank high on my list of favourite accessories, mostly on account of their unparalleled versatility. Of late, I have been wearing Toc Watches rather often, so here is a peek into this up and coming brand of highly covetable timepieces.

This year has been no different. A ton of shopping cardio session I have found my perfect dress for this holiday season. With a little bit of sparkle and a lot of style, I am all geared up for the party month.

This party season make sure to get your holiday dressing on point. A classic little black dress is a safe option but who says that it has to be plain Jane style? One popular trend for spring summer 2017 has been statement sleeves and ruffles. Designers have been showcasing ruffled, flute shaped or bishop sleeves in their collection on the runway. It’s a trend that has caught onto street style and has become very popular. But carrying off statement sleeves can be tricky. Off shoulder has been very popular this season, but now apart from the off-shoulder sleeves ruffled and fringed sleeves have also become extremely popular and chic. Instead of pairing the jeans with a regular white shirt combo I decided to make a statement with this ruffled top. The top is slightly fitted at the top and flares down at the bottom like a peplum top.  It’s a great outfit for a day out in the city, shopping or travelling. The blouse has a very casual and boho vibe to it. You can pair it with shorts for a casual affair or go for a white on white look with ripped white jeans for a chic look. I would suggest you go easy on accessories and makeup when sporting statement sleeves. I would prefer having the top be the hero of the outfit. So I have just worn a simple beaded necklace and a bracelet. I even tied up my hair in a low bun to make sure my sleeves would stand out and not get shadowed by my hairstyle.

Bold and Beautiful – Runway Makeup Inspiration

“Creativity is your best makeup skill, don’t be afraid to experiment”, words of the most influential makeup artist Pat McGrath are words every makeup artist must live by.

Known for her creativity, army of assistants and experimental bold looks, she is someone who has been creating the most iconic over the past decades.  She is someone who has given the makeup world most ingenious makeup tricks like adding a white curve to the cupid’s bow to make your lips look fuller, applying lip liner before a lipstick and blotting lips with a tissue and dusting translucent powder for long lasting wear and more.

Inspired by the looks she has created over the years I collaborated with some experienced talents in London like Aarti Kumar, Arthy Really, Desiree By Natasha, Sejal Anujah Shah and Aarsim Official to create some experimental looks that are going to be trending this season.

I wanted to get bold this New Year with my look and get out of my comfort zone. You know the whole New Year New Me kind of a feeling. So I decided so get bold with my makeup with some products from Pat Mcgrath Labs. I was really happy with the bold and beautiful look created by Aarti Kumar. Aarti is a vibrant and talented makeup artist based in London who loves to play around and create unique looks for her clients. She specialises in Bridal makeup and enjoys experimenting with new products and techniques. The first look she created focused on the glitter red lips. I was looking for a playful red tint to match my embellished skirt and crop top. For the second outfit, I wanted a fierce and feisty look, hence, the golden eye shadow and the funky lines on the eyes. The makeup made me look like a lioness and the sleek high ponytail made the whole look more intense.

The makeup did justice to the elegant handcrafted outfits by Sejal Anujah Shah. This clothing brand brings the best of both the worlds with its contemporary designs. The sleeveless white crop top adds structure to the high waisted skirt with intricate zardozi work. It is an outfit which can be worn for a sangeet or a fancy work event, party, or any other celebration. The skirt and the top can easily be matched with other outfits in your closet to create everyday styles.

Cold shoulders are really in this season. The second outfit is a twist from the regular off-shoulder or cold shoulder trend. The asymmetrical one-shoulder top is a great addition to the party wardrobe. I paired the top with skinny black pants and black shoes. I let my top and the makeup be the hero of the entire look. You can even layer up the top with a funky jacket for evenings.

No outfit is complete without the right kind of accessories. My accessories were styled by DesireebyNatasha. The brand is known for its exquisite collection of jewellery and watches made from semi-precious stones and pearls. They are elegant, modern and make any outfit pop instantly. They are also a great gifting option for someone who loves to accessorise.

I love statement bags which are fun, like the one I have incorporated in my look. The bags by Aarsim is just perfect for me since I have decided that this year I am going to focus on being happy and content with my life.

But a picture is only as good as its model….Hahaha, just kidding.. a picture is only as good as the photographer, and I love the picture play that’s been created with my look.
