Winter Dressing with Fatface

Florals, funky prints and vibrant colours take centre stage for the summer wardrobe. Gray’s, black and blues become our dreaded winter style. This makes the winter wardrobe very monotonous. With winter truly here in London, my warm bed and the fireplace has become a very difficult place to leave, especially when you hate the idea of dressing up in lumpy and oversized sweaters.  This winter makes your winter style effortless and fun by adding some chic pieces to your wardrobe.

Winter wear doesn’t have to be boring. You can add a ton of colour, layers and textures to amp up your outfit. I put together an effortlessly chic outfit this season with FatFace. When it comes to picking out your winter wardrobe, there are a few essentials like jackets and boots which you cannot ignore. I threw on a Poppy short puffer jackets with charcoal grey five pocket jeggings and colour block jumper.

The puffer jacket is a thick jacket with a super soft detachable Borg collar. This cosy jacket is perfect for when the temperature starts to drop. Jeggings are a chic alternative to your jeans this winter. The slim fit jeggings are easy to wear and come in stylish shades like charcoal and amethyst. I added a pop of colour to my outfit with the cashmere colour block jumper in grey and pink. The jumper is unbelievably soft with a relaxed fit which makes it easier to layer with any piece of clothing in your wardrobe. Another essential element in your winter wardrobe is boots. I finished my outfit with beautiful Oake Heel Ankle Boots in Navy. The ankle boots are made of luxurious nubuck leather and a chunky wooden heel. You can effortlessly pop these over your favourite pair of skinny jeans or jeggings and strut around the town in style.

I love warm and deep tones in my winter wardrobe. One of my favourite shades this winter is mauve. Get cosy this winter with a casual dress from FatFace. I paired the Aurora 2 in 1 Knitted Dress with stocking and ankle length boots. This double layered dress in the shade aubergine is different. It comes in 2 separate parts; a long sleeve jumper and a sleeveless dress. This dress can be worn is so many different ways. You can wear the sleeveless dress with any other jacket or coat in your wardrobe or pair it with the matching jumper. You can also layer the jumper with a pair of skinnies and boots.

I love the super soft fabric of this casual dress. Another interesting element of this outfit is the back. The jumper has a flattering split which makes it very fashionable. You can wear this on a day out shopping or even for work. I accessorized the outfit with a chunky beaded necklace and a tote bag.

Shoes I Can Wear All Day Long

Have you ever faced any of those days where you have to meet your friends for a casual brunch and then head to the office for some work. Dressing up for such days can be a little tricky. You don’t want to look out of place at any of those occasions. So I styled an outfit which is perfect for a girl’s day out and office wear. This is a chic style which take can you from brunch to beyond.hotter-shoes-1-3hotter-shoes-1-5

I paired a black full sleeves blouse with a bow neck along with a classic pair of dark blue skinny jeans and a statement bag. Tuck it in with a plain black belt, and you are good to go for work. For a presentation or a meeting, you can also tie up your hair for a more formal look. For a brunch or a day out with your girls, you can keep it casual by keeping the blouse tucked out, throw on some basic makeup and style your hair in beachy waves. This outfit is also appropriate for autumn. There is some light breeze, and it gets a little cold by the evening, so the full sleeves and boots come in handy.hotter-shoes-1-6The most important aspect of any outfit is comfort and he most comfortable thing about my outfit was the boots. Well you might think I am trying to sell the shoes here, but no that is what I said to my hubby dear after walking in London for more than 15 km in a day “I can wear these shoes all day long.”hotter-shoes

I got these boots from Hotter.com, who design and make all types of shoes for both men and women. The boots were brand new and even without breaking into these they were extremely comfortable. Generally, for most shoes, you need to break into them to make them comfortable and avoid any shoe bites. The first few time you are bound to get some sores or bruises. That is why I even carry Compeed in my bag, which I usually use when I am out in heels walking all day long or have bruises from new shows. But I honestly didn’t feel the need to swap, not with these new babies. I wore these shoes all day long and still no ache or no discomfort.hotter-shoes-1-4I rank them highly on comfort which is a winner and will make you wear your shoes again and again. It’s been two weeks since I have had them and it is only by force or them not matching with the outfit that I have to wear something else. These boots are perfect for the season as they keep my feet nice and warm. Plus they are super comfortable and snuggly.

Different Types of Boots in Trend – What’s Your Pick?

Boots are a winter wardrobe essential and today, there are just so many varieties out there! These days, they are not just a fashion statement but also a reflection of one’s personal style. So which kind of boot is your favourite?

Boots-in-Trend

I like almost all kinds of boots. Ankle Boots are practical and very versatile; a great choice to pair with both casual and dressy outfits. When I want to amp up the glamour quotient however, I go in for Knee-High Boots. They look great with short dresses or skirts so you can wear them when dressing up for a date or outing. Off late, these classic long boots have often been remodelled as Over-the-Knee Boots, though sadly, I don’t own such a pair as yet. They have joined the high-fashion bandwagon as a wonderful way to look great and stay warm. Maybe I’ll buy a pair soon!

Leaving aside my future shopping plans, another one of my favourite styles is the Peep-Toe Boots. This cross between peep-toe heels and regular boots has made them all the rage since Winter 2014. They are great for occasions when you’re all about style and not about the weather; open from the front, Peep-Toe Boots don’t really shield you from the chill completely but do offer some protection! But they certainly look fabulous and go very well with shorts and skinny jeans.

I also own a pair of the ankle boots, which is one of the most versatile pair I have, I have worn it with dresses, shorts, jeans. This one style should always be in your wardrobe and I promise you it will never go out of style ever for you.

Finally, on those days that my Bohemian side is out to shine, I usually pick up a pair of tasselled boots. They look great with kaftans, ripped jeans and fusion outfits even. But oh my! I could go on and on about my love for boots, quoting style-after-style that appeals to me. But the question is, what style is your favourite? I’d love to know so don’t hesitate to share!

The vibrant shades of neon from late 70s & 80s will return with lots all add ons this season. You can pair them with neutral colours such as gray, navy, or camel. And it is sure to add to your vibrant personality. You can also choose to do subtle neon on your eyes, lips, or nails and keep everything else neutral or dark.

The newest take on winter blue is powder blue. Also pink, be it light feminine pink or bubblegum hue, regardless of that you can’t go wrong with these colors this season. These shades with a hint of soft cream would be the favourite choice for tops and shirts this season. They offer both a modern classic and contemporary edge. Intricate embroidery removes the stark feeling of the hue

How To Buy The Right Winter Boots

How To Buy The Right Winter Boots

When it comes to winter essentials, you really cannot make it through the season with a pair of trusty and trendy boots to cover your feet. There are so many different styles, sizes and silhouettes available that making the right choice can be difficult and confusing. Over the years, I have picked up a few tips from friends, family and my own experiences, which make the experience of purchasing the perfect winter boots much easier. Keep these tips in mind for the next time you hit the shops!

Take Your Body Shape Into Consideration

It is not about buying a pair of boots – it is about buying the right pair of boots for your body. Ladies who are short should opt for styles that hit below the knee because anything higher will make you look shorter. Ankle boots and knee-high boots are always a good bet. If you are on the curvy side, stay away from calf-length boots, which will essentially cut your legs in half and make you look wider.

Think About Practicality

Your winter boots have to be stylish and chic, but they also have to provide your feet with grip and warmth they need during the winter. Look at buying boots that are lined with a material that will keep your toes warm when you are out and about – wool linings are always my favourite as they keep my feet really toasty, even in sub-zero temperatures. The grip is very important as well, because you don’t want to be slipping and sliding on the pavement.

Explore The Range

Even within a particular type of boot, there are so many different colours, materials and styles available. I would strongly suggest that you take out the time to browse the entire range that is available, both in stores and online, before making a purchase decision. Boots, when bought correctly, are great investment pieces that can last you for seasons you come, so spend your money wisely and on a pair that you are one-hundred-and-ten-per-cent happy with.

Look At More Than Just Size

Obviously, you need to buy your boots in the right shoe size for them to fit, but there are a few more numbers that you need to look at before picking them up. The first is the circumference. This will tell you just how easily the boot will fit your calf. Also look at the length of the boot shaft, which shows you how high the boot will come up to on your leg.
