Festival Makeup – Bohemian Summer Look

It is often said that leave a little sparkle wherever you go. Glitter is one of my favorite when I want to add some oomph to my outfit. It’s never a dull moment when you have some glitter on. A good way to incorporate this trend is my sporting glitter makeup. A little bit of sparkle goes a long way and makes sure people give you a second glance. A lot of times sporting glittery makeup can be a little too intimidating and scary. Also, a lot of people do tend to go a bit overboard with it. The key to dramatic glitter eyes is moderation. So if you want perfect party eyes… then glitter is the way to go!

Here’s how you can wear glitter with ease and steal the show.

I created the glitter makeup look for the Godiva Festival. The Godiva Festival is a three-day free music festival which offers great music, entertainment, international food and drinks, children’s fun fair and more. It’s an all in one event which is celebrated in the city’s War Memorial Park. They have 5 stages, 4 tents and two fields filled with fun activities for everyone.

The festival outfit look has a very boho vibe to it. You generally see people sporting fringes, psychedelic prints, hats, boho jewelry.

Instead of going for the obvious flower crowns and chunky bracelets go for something unexpected and add some glitter makeup to your outfit. I’ve created a very versatile and comfortable festival look.

I paired a red summer dress with some lace detailing with my glitter eye makeup. I matched my makeup with the tiny glitter bag with all my essentials. The dress is quite simple. So, I jazzed it up with my makeup and accessories.

I wanted to keep my jewelry to a minimum because who wants to take care of it while you are having so much fun. So I wrapped my necklace as a bracelet for a funky style and used a neck tattoo instead of jewelry for a more fashionably comfortable look.

There are various ways in which you can pair your outfit with a glittery look. You can even sport a short dress or a long gown and add some color with a contrasting outfit. But when you are trying the glitter look to make sure you match it with your outfit. Avoid looking like a shiny disco ball by complementing it with some sober pieces in your look. Keep your outfit simple so that it can bring out the elegant look and make your makeup look charming. So don’t be afraid to sparkle a little, because she who leaves a trail of glitter is never forgotten.

I am currently obsessed with this glitter makeup look and am planning to create one more look soon. But this time I want to experiment with some colors so I am looking at shades of mauve. Are you excited about this look?

Taking Office Wear into Off Duty Style

When it comes to style, I’m a big believer in fluidity: transitioning daytime makeup into night-time glam, styling up a casual t-shirt with a sequin jacket for a night out on the town, repurposing beachwear in the city with some carefully selected accessories – you get the idea. And while we’ve all spent a lot of time thinking about how to dress up certain casual items in our wardrobes, I’m sure most of us have not thought quite as much about how we might dress down our work wear to make it more fun and fashionable for the weekend. But it’s time to start thinking about it, pronto, because it will open up a new world of possibilities in your wardrobe. Trust me.

The most important thing to remember is that this style is all about balance. To make your work wear more stylish and less serious, you need to balance it out with elements that are carefree, casual and even bohemian.

That’s what I kept in mind as I started to style this cute rabbit print shirt. In order to brighten up the look and take it from corporate to colourful, I decided to pair the shirt with a pair of cobalt blue cropped pants. Not only did these pants match the print while brightening up the look; the cropped style took the fuss out of wearing a shirt, instantly giving the look a carefree vibe. Next, I threw on a bohemian coin necklace over the shirt, to add some more fun to the ensemble. This simple addition took my entire outfit far, far away from the office space and into a more relaxed, weekend-ready zone.

The final additions were a pair of sunglasses (I never leave the house without them!) and a pair of strappy heels – but you could just as easily pair this with white sneakers if you wanted a super casual outfit. And with that, I was ready to rock my corporate shirt out and about over the weekend, in a look that was carefree and chic, yet put-together.

If you keep the idea of balance in mind, you can pretty much take any piece of office wear you own, and style it for an after-hours or weekend look. If you wanted to style your regular black trousers, you could easily dress them down by pairing them with a simple white t-shirt and sneakers, or a tank top, leather jacket and boots for a more edgy outfit. You can dress down corporate work dresses by throwing on more bohemian jewellery, switching up your hairstyle (for example, from a chignon to a messy bun) or even throwing on a cooler jacket (leather, denim, bomber…the possibilities are endless!)

The trick is to open your mind to experimenting, to mixing and matching, and to understanding that clothing items don’t have to be worn in only one way – you can wear them however you please! By starting to reuse your formal clothes over the weekend, you will not only get more wear out of them but also expand your off-duty wardrobe greatly. And as every fashion lover knows, it doesn’t get better than that.
